The Tesla app has just been updated with one of its biggest changes for iOS users, you can now use Siri shortcuts and the shortcuts app to control your Tesla.
In this video I'll show you how to use these new Tesla Apple Siri Shortcuts and explain what you can do with them.

Very helpful and I definitely plan to use it, though mostly for the dog mode. I really like to be able to turn on the climate controls 10 minutes before getting in the car and dog mode is close enough!

Hey! Nice video! I have a question for an automation and couldn’t figure out if it’s possible.
Sentry mode obviously used a lot of battery, but for me it’s a very useful tool. I would like to turn it off at my home location between 22:30 and 5:30 since no one is going to use the big parking garage at those times. So I did set up the automation for this time - brilliant. BUT let’s say I am out with friends and park the car in the city, I would like to have sentry mode on the whole time/ night.
So I would need an automation that says, turn of sentry mode between 22:30 and 5:30 but only at this address..
Is anything like that possible?

Hey yeah that should be possible, you can just create two and use the one you want 👍
Regarding confirmations, I believe you can create a custom shortcut (recipe) that would execute a tesla app shortcut but only after presenting you with a confirmation. You don't need to tie the siri command to a single tesla app task.
Open Tesla Trunk works for me. I did rename it Open Trunk. I don’t have any special technical skills. It’s great.

For those struggling with the apple watch, to get rhe shortucts app on the watch to show them, i think you need to go into details on each shortcut and turn on the 'show on apple watch' button. Hasnt resolved for mine yet but fingers crossed!

Very informative thanks…however like many people in comments my I watch Siri just fails. Like many say…asks me to download app or add key to wallet. You make it look easy in the video from the iwatch but I am 3 days in trying everything. The Tesla shortcut is showing up in app as being an active watch shortcut…???
Hi Mark, thanks for another great vid! I've got "shortcuts" on the iphone but despite using my tesla app a zillion times no tesla actions already show on "shortcuts" and i cant see how you can "add" tesla to the "shortcuts" app on the phone.... any ideas? Many thanks
Thanks Nick! So please make sure all apps are updated on the app store as you need the latest version of the tesla app and 2023.26.8. Hope this helps
I set it all up, but when I tell my watch to lock my Tesla, it says I need to install an app on my watch. I can't figure out what's going on. Any idea?
It will sync to your watch after around 2 hours
Mark how do you get your phone to show up show while filming looks really slick I notice you can’t delete lock or un lock tesla or rename it which is a real security issue as everyone has the same trigger to unlock Tesla where as all the other tesla short cuts can be removed or renamed
Hey so I basically screen record the iPhone (you can do this within control centre or search in settings) I then send that video to my Mac and import it to Final Cut Pro (I have to add in the iPhone frame myself) - Yes I agree they need to improve these to allow renaming.

Definitely not working on the watch. Are you sure your watch isn’t still using Watch app for Tesla, Mark? If I look on Shortcuts app on my watch is doesn’t have any shortcuts for apps that aren’t installed on watch. Shortcuts need to be shared with watch but I cannot see how to do that for Tesla shortcuts, only personal ones.
@@somewaresimSame here. I have however just created my own simple shortcut for preconditioning and got it to work via my watch
A question Mark. Why would someone precondition their battery each day at 8am (or any time for that matter)?

Great question, so preconditioning the car helps warm up the batteries and apparently the car is more efficient once pre-conditioning for 15-30 mins before a long drive. So it could give you an extra few miles on a long journey. Not really worth it for a short one.

This video should be more helpful with the new action button now with the new iPhone 15 pro. Very powerful tool when combined with the shortcuts
Great video! Got all the shortcuts working apart from “open boot” which is the main one I wanted! 👍🏻 it says the shortcut is run, but the boot stays closed?! Anyone have a similar issue?
Same here. Seen in another video that it’s an issue for many. Hopefully an update will be on the way soon

Do you have the Tesla app on your phone? You will need your iPhone connected to the car for it to work.
I have the app open and phone is connected to the Tesla. Still getting the error

I am having trouble when I speak to Siri it asks me which app and it lists Tesla, Tessi & Wallet!!!! Can you please help
Whenever I walk into a restaurant (for example) someone could say loudly 'Hey Siri, open Tesla'
Then watch how many people panic!!
Siri on my watch asks me to continue on my personal device. It looks like it is a bit hit and miss at present.
It takes about 2 hours to sync over I've found
Hi Mark (and everyone else). Any clues how to create a 'precondition battery ONLY shortcut' for those mornings when it's cool / cold outside ?
The main reason I would like this is because my REGEN WARNING light comes on nearly every time I leave home (the car is usually at 100% because I have an LFP battery). I've heard this REGEN issue can happen because the battery is not warm enough - hence my need to precondition JUST the battery. I don't need or want the interior to be preconditioned which just uses up power.

Hey I don’t think this is possible, only with the temperature or you could navigate to a supercharger (but not actually go to one)
I agree 'precondition battery ONLY shortcut' would be nice. Note there's another reason REGEN DISABLED icon is on when the battery is at 100% independent of battery temperature. A battery should never be charged when at 100% SOC - doing so would destroy the battery.
@@MBrown Hi again Matt. Navigating to a SC is a good idea, I've tried it a few times, BUT... I have to be IN the car and just about to go somewhere. I was hoping for a shortcut I could use on my iPhone (or watch) so I could precondition prior to leaving - say 10 to 15 mins before I leave). I see you can do it with the button you have stuck to the dashboard - but I don't have those, just my iPhone/watch... I wonder if it would be possible have one of those buttons set up in the house, so you could press it, and have the battery all nice and toasty before leaving? (It's just a thought - I have no idea if this is possible). Regards, Greg.
@@rayfifo7016 G'Day Ray, and thanks for the reply. Yes, I am aware of the battery 100% full / regen light on issue. However my battery is an LFP battery which can be charged to 100% every day, and left like that on the Tesla home charger (which turns itself off after the battery is at 100% *AND* the BMS has rebalanced the cells).
Got them set up but I cant get them to work w Siri from the apple watch - keeps saying I need an app or car key in wallet. I did check "add to apple watch".

It could be your worst nightmares using these shortcuts . It’s bad enough that Siri listened to my conversations and actually pocked up certain words I said and goes off the do things. The last thing I want is Siri goes for a drive in my Tesla etc. Users Beware! I’m not kidding.

It’s says you need to add the app or card. Tesla app is already downloaded and I can see all the shortcuts in that shortcuts app, but Siri isn’t working 😢
Hmm that's strange make sure app and car is updated and reset phone.
Mine keeps says no car selected when I try and run the shortcuts. Any idea on how to add the vehicle to shortcuts?

Hi Mark, when I ask Siri to open the boot of my car, it complies, but when I ask Siri to close the boot, it repeatedly asks for 'Tesla' or 'CarPlay.' My car does not have CarPlay. How can I resolve this issue so that Siri can close the boot without asking for 'Tesla' or 'CarPlay

@@MBrown from each premade shortcut you can create a new one. Doing that allows you to pick the vehicle. Then you can change the title to reflect what you’d say. But taking those steps is a bit of a pain

It was a Tesla app update, make sure it's up to date in the App Store

@@SpaceDope. Do you mean frunk instead of bonnet, and trunk instead of boot ? (Siri might be confuse between frunk and trunk though IMO).

Seems like Siri can’t identify my command. So I told him to open tesla charging port, but I think he understand it as opening an app

What am I missing? I followed all these steps, including activating Siri to the Tesla shortcuts, and all I get when I issue a command to Siri is "You'll need to download an app for your car, or add a car key to the Wallet app." I can't for the life of me figure out what is going wrong. Please help.

Yeah its sometimes a permission issue

Wish there was a shortcut to defrost Tesla. Is that possible?
Hey yes it's on the app, go to climate and press 'Defrost' or within the car use the rear windscreen Demister and that flicks on defrost too.
I don't think you explain how to do this from your watch. My watch says you need to download an app. Then again I don't know anything about shortcuts.

I have 3 Teslas. You completely skipped over the fact that multiple cars is not supported.
I was wondering about that. I have two and can’t fire out how to select which one I’m controlling.
I think I figured it out. It runs the command on what ever car you have selected last in the app.
