An epic return for the Impact series. also a correction - the Strix X570-I does seem to have a 40mm VRM fan underneath the IO shroud towards the top.
ASROCK seems to have a better X570 ITX board. It has thunderbolt 3 built in and supports ecc ram.
@@allansh828 Intel freed Thunderbolt 3 ( as part of usb 3.2 standard) so AMD motherboards can use it.
@@allansh828 How does AMD boards have thunderbolt?
why didn't show more of the case itx of asus :'( ? regards
quick question if you throw a large top hats on the louqe s1 would this board be able to fit
It's like if an ITX board grew a beard
Look this ASUS! Thanks MSI for the sponsor :D Awesome :D
Great coverage.
Buildzoid recently said that a single 8 pin CPU can provide 400 watts, which would be more than enough.
The two buttons at the bottom are labeled "safe boot" and "retry". "Safe boot" works with OC to enable booting with default values while not clearing the BIOS, and "retry" allows for retrying to boot with OCed RAM that failed to train, to try to train them again.
The mitx board does have active cooling on the VRM and chipset. Look where the white print is on the IO-shield, there is a fan hiding under there!
Noticed that during the edit, hard to see in the dark :P
@@symetik9625 On the Strix board?
@@symetik9625 No problem!
The Impact boards are always beast for overclocking. VII Impact took my 4790K to 5.1ghz with 2993 DDR3.
The first thing I thought when I saw this announced was, "I wonder what Optimum Tech think about it."
The Strix X570-I Gaming looks good. Looking forward to see this tested with a 3700X in a DAN A4 case.
@@llamakob3745 He said Strix X570 which is full ITX not the Crosshair VIII DTX..
@@llamakob3745 He said the Strix X570-I Gaming which is the same form factor as all other ITX boards before it the ROG VIII Impact is the one that won't fit because it's (Mini DTX) form factor.
Gonna be hard to keep that cpu cool in the dan due to the low profile air cooler/92mm liquid cooler limitation. I would rather see the impact board with a dual rad setup in an ncase m1!
I don't understand where's the love for the mATX X570 mobos. :(
it's even more niche than itx unfortunately.
Hmm that M.2 thingie looks VERY flimsy
Super flimsy. Which is weird because the one they put on the x399 Zenith Extreme is perfect.
One 8 Pin EPS Connector is more than enough, the VRM will overheat long before it would fail
The 8 Pin EPS can do up to 28A @12V (336W)
Overclocked 16 core on all cores could well exceed one EPS. 2700x overclocked is 270watts, 7920x is 400watts (yeah I own both). Even allowing for efficiency of 7nm, you better believe 16 cores (which is comming) will max that EPS out and who knows what kind of crazy overclocks it might do.
I think the VRM's PWM controller says it is a ASP1405I which other websites say is a Infineon (IR) IR35201 controller that works in a 8+0 phase mode? So I'd guess it's more than 4 phases or else they wouldn't have spent the money, whether it's 8 real phases, 8 phases via doublers or 6+2 or something else entirely I guess requires someone to take a closer look.
the price looks to be mental aswell.. but do want not gonna lie
Any chance this board will fit in an Ncase M1 with a 240mm bottom mounted radiator?
chillin over here with a sata ssd and a b450m pro4
Is it perfect for r9 3950x 16c!!!!
All these new mini-ITX boards and none have USB 3.1 headers! The only one I've seen is that DTX form factor one which won't fit in my case.
Yeah, them going DTX was a mistake and not having a USB 3.1 headed is another. Currently there are a couple mini-itx intel boards that have 3.1 headers
@@RevolverOcelot79 buy the frigging ITX then sheesh... there are TWO different ones, buy the one that fit your needs and ignore the other one... move on
Are there actually any good Mini-DTX cases out there?
You can't go wrong with a streacom DA2, very premium.
Can you check out ASrock? Are they doing a new deskmini for the ryzen 3000 series?
They just confirmed support for 3000 series APUs on the old deskmini
Gonna get this and put it in a LianLi TU150 for a portable workstation. Can't wait for July!!!
Does anyone know if this motherboard will fit in a H200 case without any kind of case modification or brackets?
too bad the impact is a dtx form factor board, otherwise would have been the go 2 board for every high performance ITX build, but it only will fit the largest ones
it fits the ncase m1
@@serviceaccount6475 yep, as i said it will fit larger itx cases
According to Buildzoid the vrm is 4+2, like you mentioned that Asus has done before around 2:10 onward.
I've been waiting for so long to have asus to make a VRM water cooling motherboard
I cannot wait to check out that too
4:10 what is that case?!??
I think it's the ROG Strix Helios
@@antoniskazou nope it's their new prototype mini itx case. Check bitwit video.
Looks hella good. Looking towards more reviews of this board
If only they did Micro ATX X570 boards.
Yay! Mini-DTX! *Looks closer* What is that knob hanging off and why isn't there a second PCIe slot? C'mon guys. Those of us into Wireless VR would kill for a true mDTX board and case options.
Air-cooler compatibility tests for the itx would be very interesting. Vrm and m.2 heatsinks look massiv.
Buildzoid of Actually Hardcore Overclocking makes some claims about this board in a video titled "The Crosshair VIII Impact is almost certainly a 4+2 phase VRM and that's fine". He references YOUR video at 1:22. Check it out if you're interested. For those unaware: Buildzoid does board analysis for GamersNexus; some pretty in-depth stuff.
I was unaware the NCASE M1 supported mini-DTX. I actually saw some people cramming flex-ATX into it. That little case just never stops impressing.
I am really tempted to move my gaming rig back to my Ncase just so I can get the Impact.
What’s the case at 4:03 ?
Mine! I want this Mobo... I've been waiting for a Crosshair AMD SFF Mobo for a while now and looks as if we're going to get one!
Actually you can see a fan under the IO shoud for Strix borad, and a fan frame with 2 screws at the side, at around 3:47
64 gigs supported?! Are we getting 32gig modules?!
Doesn't fit in the DanCase tho :(
Sweet, I have been waiting for an AM4 mDTX board. Still want to see one with x4 and x16 slots so I can make a small streaming pc and not have to mess about with bifurcation hassles
Yo I don't know very much about the mounting points of the PCB but with a little custom work on the spine and the large tophat for the Ghost S1 you shooould be getting it in there?
I'm super skeptical about x570, those little fans are just one more moving part to break which is also increasing prices and then the doubling the power output of the chipset is asking for some 1st gen problems.
The Asus Strix X570-I Gaming can handle the 12 core which means it can handle the 16 core, I personally think Strix X570-I Gaming is a better option if you don't want to pay the extra $$ for what I consider unnecessary for are ITX Motherboard when they both have the same 8+2 VRM configuration.
Impact in the NCASE M1 with one 240mm rad on the side, one slim 240mm on the bottom (undet the waterblocked GPU) with the best noctua fans that fit. Dream ITX?
Hussein Barakat
It would be neat but loud.
@@Revenant_Knight why, should be quitter than a 240 aio and air gpu +/- slim fans on the bottom.
Hussein Barakat
The slim Noctua 120s are loud at full RPM and in gaming you will need it. Plus you will have the turbulence issue.
The side rad, to keep GPU cool, should be an exhaust. This is louder than an intake. I just swapped my NZXT X52s from intake to exhaust and they doubled in volume.
You’re also looking at tubing routing nightmare.
Additionally, the pump noise through the cases thing aluminum is very noticeable.
@@Revenant_Knight interesting..
Optimum Tech, verify! :)
@@Revenant_Knight why must it be in exhaust? And why would it be louder? Harder to exhaust?
ASUS mother review sponsored by MSI?
Computex trip was sponsored by MSI, not this video.
I feel perplexed because I can't tell if this would fit in the Phanteks Enthoo Shift X, but I doubt it
A shame that mini-DTX board still sports just one PCIe slot. Put two on there, slap two Radeon VII on it with a single-slot waterblock and then load it up with the highest core-count Ryzen CPU and you have a tiny little machine that just screams. But oh well, size constraints and that chipset needs all the cooling it can get.
then get an mATX bor if ya want more slots
Was the SSD drive addon card connector so flimsy or wasn't it properly secured like RAM?
Don't suppose you could check out the AsRock X570 mATX board while your there, could you.,,looks like its going to be just about the only X570 mATX release :((
damn, dunno if I should go asrock or rog itx, they are going hard
do you mean the asrock phantom gaming itx?
Yeah... Killer board. I understand that there is a PCIe multiplier, so Iid like to know how if at all this can help with SLI. Look forward to your next video on this one.
Should it not be possible to have the Impact in a Ghost with tophat on the bottom, Mini DTX is just a bit longer, so if you have that extra space from a tophat I would think it could fit? I hope you can get your hands on one and maybe test it in the future.
Love your content!
Hmmm how come they didn't release this board ?... can anyone tell me where to buy this...(if they really released this board) ?
Are real heatsinks that hard to make?
Every manufacturer cries about having to put a fan on the chipset to keep their test-cuts in alu block co-designed by Fisherprice. The solution is to look at the pre-2010 mainboard cooling solutions.
Well, the heatsink for chipset must be very low profile so it dosent block GPU.
Does Croshair VIII have a thunderbolt-3 like the GIGABYTE mini-itx counterpart?😡😐
The Crosshair looks awesome, that M.2 daughterboard seems to sagging a little though, can you confirm?
it does sag but it's due to having no support from a case so should be fine
Does this new GPU placement mean we will need longer riser cables than what the Louqe Ghost S1 comes with?
My case is on its way but I’ve never used a riser before so not sure what to expect.
oh man an x570 impact board! I can't wait to put it in my gho-- "it's unfortunately mini-DTX"
Noooooooo ;_;
Yeah don't really understand the point of that spec, might as well have made it mATX.
@@pronstorestiffi Easy to understand though: most mini-ITX cases have two PCIe brackets, so they support mini-DTX. Mini-ITX has otherwise a hole behind the GPU, and ASUS wanted more board space for 8 sets of components for the VRM, and a premium audio solution. Voilà!
Edit: forgot an interesting point. Standard PCB boards can accommodate exactly 4 DTX boards or 6 mini-DTX boards, allowing for no wasted material and reducing cost.
Imagine paying for a premium case instead of shoebox case for 40 bucks and it doesn't support dtx
Ujiltrom M Except most mini-itx cases don’t have the space for this.
@@RevolverOcelot79 most actually DO have space for it, except the few cases that use PCIE risers to move the gpu elsewhere
Is this going to get a release in the US?
Would the Dtx fit in a sentey zaber you think?
I'm gonna say no: there's a metal wall to mount standoffs to secure the GPU riser cards. It will conflict with the additional length.
@@ujiltromm7358 Exactly. I actually think they screwed the pooch with this design as this board wont fit at least 8 cases off the top of my head.. Plus, no 3.1 USB header.
@@ujiltromm7358 how about on the salvo s401? Similar style but w/o that metal wall.
this is my next motherboard :O
i hope to get a x570 board with the. most M,2 slots
Do you think that this will be able to fit in the sliger sm580 @optimum tech?
Will it fit the InWin A1?
Do you think that this will fit into my NZXT Manta?
i wonder if it can fit into lian li q37
What about Abee RS01? It's so hard to get a NCase now
If you use a small or medium top hat at the bottom of the ghost could you then fit the impact??
the 570i strix has 1 fan
Ooh that lady at the beginning holding the graphics card is bae 😳😍
I legit thought it said WII on the thumbnail...
Hoped for mini-itx but mini-dtx is good enough
Keep watching
Strix is good but you want the best! Its maximus! Err crosshair!
then buy the fecking ITX board? it's RIGTH THERE!
more rog boards
would this board fit in a corsair 380T ?
i was wondering what it was called and it is not called so-dimm but dimm.2 slot
I t is a SO-DIMM.2 slot, because it is the same size as a SO-DIMM slot; if it were DIMM.2, it would be the size of a regular DIMM slot.
What about mATX options? Will there be any at all at launch? °_°
Gamers Nexus showed a pic of a Asrock mATX today
@@ottersonxtc9759 OK, found it: twitter.com/GamersNexus/status/1133564149026267136
Thx!
Sorry but I stopped watching after I heard about the size
Yea, a bit of a screw-up on their part.
Seems like total overkill if I'm just a gamer and not a content creator or pushing high overclock. Hell, I probably don't need more than 6 cores or even need an x570 but I still want one, stupid marketing
well, it's you who is an idiot. Just buy the one which costs 150 USD.
why only 1 Gbps RJ45? what about 2.5/5Gbps ? :/
board come with realtek 2.5g
@@aravindhanvivekanandhan5649 not according to Asus website ("Intel Gigabit Ethernet")
Would this fit in Corsair 280X microATX case
yes
they'll regret the non itx form, very very dumb
No they won't. The smallest standard mini-ITX case with two PCIe brackets support mini-DTX.
@@ujiltromm7358 That's not true. As a matter of fact this excludes at least 8 SFF cases I can think of off the top of my head.
@@RevolverOcelot79 read what he said? he said those with 2 pcie brackets will support it (since it tucks in right where the GPU sits when you mount it... it will NOT fit those that use pcie risers like the DAN A4 etc.
Ill be buying it but I love mATX lol guess they're not that dumb?
Will this fit to inwin a1 plus
hmm, will this fit in the ncase?
From the pics I've found of the interior, as long as you don't want to use a bottom radiator that's too wide, you should be fine.
This one looks fine (but barely) with a rad that's barely wider than 120mm, I think that's an Alphacool one: 0x7d.com/photos/ncase-m1-build-v2/IMG_6612.jpg
Typically, a HardwareLabs Black Ice Nemesis 240 will conflict, while a Black Ice Nemesis 240L (aka BitsPower Leviathan 240) won't.
Probably will cost $300 or more.
