What a super presentation! I appreciate how you use the cut page strengths when they add to the workflow. So many users (myself included) tend to overlook the cut page. Thanks Chris for a well organized, engaging and useful tutorial.
Thank you! I find there are specific instances where the unique features of the Cut page can enhance many workflows. I’ll be aiming to address these in future videos. Stay tuned as they say! 😎
Thank you. This might be the best video on this subject...and I've watched a lot of them. I learned about tools and setting in DaVinci Resolve that I haven't been using correctly. This video was very helpful. Keep them coming please. New subscribers.
Thanks Chris, a terrific tutorial as always - that in this case rescued my Saturday night. On Saturday I covered a demo (pro bono) and produced a 2 min video for the organisers that afternoon. That evening they phoned and said can they have a TikTok of it as well, something I haven't done for while. I had a recollection that you had done a tutorial on it recently, had a look - and bam - 12 mins after viewing your video had it nailed! As others have said, the the Cut section is something I have not really explored before, preferring to go straight to the Edit page, but I shall definitely look into your other videos about editing in the Cut page now.
Wow! Thank you! This has got to be my favourite piece of feedback so far... It's great to hear when someone uses a technique I've demonstrated like this. Seems I DO know what I'm talking about 😉 Fantastic! 🙏🏻
Hi Chris ! Love your video, it shows the real power of the Cut Page. Also, on the side note, thank you for this video, I am about to take the test for trainer certification and it made a real good refresher for me !
Love to see a video on how to correct the horizon of very wonky, rotationally challenged footage +-30°. Stabilisation at best smooths the path from one extreme to the other-some of the time.
Great video, I didn’t know that the cut page had those handy guides and such! I’ll definitely use that page when formatting my work for a different resolution. Any solution for using those guides on the Edit page? Thanks!
There’s limited support for custom safe areas in the Edit page, but a solution could be to create a graphic using the correct dimensions (1080x1920 for example) using a graphics program - most of them have presets for this sort of thing. You could then import it into your project and overlay it in your timeline. HTH.
Chris, I have watched all your videos to learn how to do editing better and more smoothly,. That has been the result for sure, the last 2 videos were after watching your tips, they were better than the 368 or so before that are on this channel. I have a new format on my Golf Play videos, and trying to find the right effects, titles and formula for editing them. I am using the background removal tool pretty successfully, but could use some tips for sure. The current series is Playing every Golf Course I can find in the UK on my software of choice, GSPro in my Simulator with real Golf Clubs . Subscribed and will be watching for the next tips to improve more! Thanks again for the education and such well explained tutorials. Even an old guy from the Abacus generation Gets it, LOL
@@Chris.Roberts they are tough on my old body, I play a few rounds a night and no way to keep up with editing, I am so slow editing I think editing makes me hurt more than the golf.
Sort of. It’s based on the exercise I wrote for the Resolve 17 Editor’s Guide but has been adapted slightly. There’s also a similar exercise in the Resolve 18 Editor’s Guide that follows similar steps but in the Edit page.

Amazing, I learnt quite a few tricks here. I might give the CUT page a go, I never use it. Thanks!

Sounds like this may be a task for Fusion. It would be useful if you could post some example footage.
