I want to see you do EVERYTHING ok. No need to ask if we want to see you try something. Yes... Yes we do!
Lisa S ditto that!
Double ditto.
I just want to be in her and her fish room’s presence. Just to admire all the work that goes in to it, and take notes on everything I could learn. 😂
My CPD tank has a pretty full carpet of dwarf sag. I've always found my CPDs spawning in the "grass". I wait several days until I think there are fry then use a siphon tube and gently press it down on the sag... Into a 2 gallon bucket... wait a bit and check with a flashlight. There's usually a few each time up to about 5. They then spend time in a Marina breeding box (hang on) until they can join the tank again. Last noticed spawn I raised about 27. There is healthy shrimp population in the tank now (culls) but recently I saw two young ones join the group. It's fun to have tanks of fish that repopulate themselves! Most of the fish I have were born in house.
Yes would love to see more dwarf cichlids. I love kribensis.
I love my CPDs. They are quite beautiful, and while they don't school, they are always chasing each other around and showing off to each other. The males are total nutcases, they make my tank really active.
When I was breeding these guys I had them in a 10 gallon with a dwarf hairgrass carpet. Every day there would be new fry on the top of the tank, I'd just scoop them and put em in their own 5 gallon. Super easy!
I swear you could film a rock and I would watch it! Love your videos, thanks so much for sharing with us all.
Ha ha ha! I agree wholeheartedly :D
I came for the species spotlights and stayed for Rachel and her family! Really the only UA-camr I consistently watch and admire. None of the content is stale and I'm always learning new things from our Fishpimp! Plus her tanks are just stunning. She's the best aquarist on the internet, bar none.
You always have tons of shrimp and fish breeding all over your fish room. It's always intersting to know what you do to have success. Always appreciate the information you have and how freely you share and show what you do.
👍💕👍
The colours of all your fish are amazing all so healthy love cpd's
I agree with Lisa S! I love watching your videos and learning from them. I love apistos and would love to see more about them.
This eye shadow 💕💕💕💕💕 you should also do makeup tutorials 🤣🤣
I absolutely love your videos. Your fish foom is a huge inspiration to me. Thank you for sharing! I'm also very jealous of your rice fish, I've been looking for some for a long time.
I ordered Chili Rasboras for a planted 20 long 9 months ago. They were SUPER tiny and all looked the same until they started to mature and color up. Out of the 7 Chili's, one ended up being a Phoenix rasbora. I am pleased to report I have had 4 babies...but...they are ALL Phoenix rasboras...look just like Mom! So now out of 11 fish, I have 6 Chili's and 5 Phoenix. Not exactly the original plan but I'll take it!
Wish, I had a Rachel at home to catch my CPDs within seconds, like she does at 2:20.
I just love CPDs. Once, they have settled in, they are actually quite active, wiggling around with their fins all the time. They always seem to be dancing. I made some underwater footage of them, where they are just beautiful...
That tiger lotus is looking great that you planted in pot. Beautiful, I going to have to use that idea in my 75g,again thank you for videos
Love those wild guppies to pieces! 💕 I think my cories spawned - - I didn't know and thought it was snails eggs! Doh!
I love Apistogrammas!!!!! Would love to see more! 🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿
Thank you so much for this. I have a little patio pond with some danios, and so far, only 2 fry have survived this year. Happy to see what works for you, and try it out myself! Please /do/ show anything you think is educational or beneficial! \m/
I have had my tanks about 6 months and I've successfully been able to breed my Corydoras and now I have 7 baby corys, and I also incubated my mystery snail clutch!!! Thank you so much for your inspiration!!!
Congrats!!
@@RachelOLeary thank you!!!
Yes please do get more. I love your videos.
Oh i would love to learn more about apistogrammas i love them and they will breed no problem but they keep eating their own fry, i have got an extra aquarium now but haven't got the apistogrammas anymore. I hope te get the cacatoides tripple red and also the blue rams. Love your video's, have learnt so much, thx!!
Your fish room looks fantastic! Well done 👍🏻
All species you showed here are interesting, and the tips are great.
Thank you for an educational and informative video! Hoping for more tips about breeding setups in the future!
These guys are on my list to breed for years. We got the Ember tetra breeding down pat now. Mum bought her special guppy varieties. Now I am on the lookout for the next breeding project for the greenhouse. SLOWLY building a business. So hard to do without getting into debt, LOL.
The only way to make a few into many. I was king of Tiger barb and Arulius barb breeding back in the late 80's. I used to have a 50 gallon..no filter, just light and White Clouds bred and a few would survive to the point it was like a neon tank. As long as the Java moss grew thick.
YES PLEASE MORE DWARF CICHLIDS! I found out my building's super breeds apistos and I'm just waiting for a good time to make a setup and get a pair!
WOW your apisto pair is absolutely stunning!! more of them!
Nowadays the good nano fish are going for $12-15 each..even common Neons are $4 each. I used to buy very small ones like 10 for a dollar on into the 90's.
Thanks for this great video !
Yes, more dwarf cichlids, I need to learn more about them !
Definitely keen for more Apistogramma / Dwarf Cichlid vids - Got a lovely pair of Macmasteri in my community but they still haven't bred! :(
Laetacara curviceps would be a fabulous breeding tank - and more people need to see this beautiful gentle cichlid.
Tk you for your videos. Like I need more animals...... But now you have got me interested starting a fish tank.... Can't help but like how beautiful a properly maintained fish tank is... Tk u again for all the information.. much respect!!!
I'm looking forward to watching the breeding process as it's something I'd like to try one day. 😊
All of your tanks are awesome especially the pleco tank and we'll all of them.
Keep up the great videos!
All of your tanks are awesome! Looking forward to the Cory videos. I have a male and female Panda Cory that I have seen the eggs on the glass and plants, not sure what to do. Andie and Dandy are 3.5 yrs since I've had them, they were pretty small when I got them. Great videos and lots of great advice!! THANKS
Love seeing any of your tanks. Species spotlights are always great. I never get tired of nano fish. Whatever you throw out there will be watched with relish. Love hearing the parameters of the fish you present as well as the history of the breed, where you got them, their lifespan, what you feed them, etc. Thank you.
Love, love, love the video.
Love your videos!!
Yes please do an episode on dwarf ram cichlids. Always enjoy your videos.
CPDs always remind me of miniature trout.
Yeah Brook trout to be exact
Looking good...
What a fantastic vid. I'm temoted to try breeding my Threadfin Rainbows and Emperor Tetras. Thanks for sharing
Cpd are fantastic first time breeding fish and they look like micro trout in my opinion
I agree! Minature trout for sure in looks.
They look like tiny brook trout ! I LOVE them!
Thankyou....❤ your awesome videos. fr. Ontario Canada. Cheers☕
The kribensis could be the start of your West African tank! 😁
Also, those wild guppies at the end are my favorite fish! They're easy, hardy, social, funny to wacht and breed without lots of care! Unfortunately because of the heat waves this year I lost all males and my colony is starting to die off. Maybe I'll find them again one time!
Dang, those Filament Tetras are looking mad sexy. I love breeding the non-annual West African killifish. Spawn like crazy and most of them don't bother the fry. Feeding fry can be tricky, but if you have live moss there is usually sufficient infusoria to get them going post hatch until they can take larger food. Vinegar Eels, microworms and baby brine will grow them faster but, not necessary if you're just doing it for the fun of breeding.
Thanks to your wonderful videos, I have had shrimp reproduce like crazy, and I successfully raised a huge clutch of Mystery Snails, but fish intimidate me. After watching this video... I'm ready to give it a try! Thank you!
that is awesome! Congrats Carole!
Those CPDs are looki g gooood.
Oh yes the breeding of a cichlid especially the little ones are those dwarfs that is so cool I'd love to see that how to do that I know how to do with the big one so I've never tried the little ones like Rams and what's in that never tried those but yeah that be great to see I love watching your channel you always have such interesting thing I love all your fish. Just gorgeous even though the tiny I'm used to having big fish but wow they're gorgeous alright well please please take care of you and your family please take care of yourself and may God bless you can't wait to see what's next
Yes, would be interested re the D. Cichlids, I've never had Cichlids. And I am sooo jealous of the fact that you caught that fish so easily. Ha! The very idea of catching my fish to move them and then catching them again to move them back...hysterical!! The guppy grass did not work for the rosies btw, but interestingly (can't remember if I already told you this), my Chili Rasboras, clearly took advantage as I had 10 brigittae in the Boraras school and now there are 12. I would reallllly like more Rosies however...and you have none on your list boo hoo. I guess I'll have to dump in some more plants and try yet again :) Yes to more videos like this one.
catching fish is very much understanding how they behave. i watch fish all day long, so find it pretty easy to predict how to catch them
Oh no, you mean I have to spend even more time watching my fish lol :) What a great excuse for me to spend more time doing that...I could claim I'm doing research for a thesis Love it. For you, yes True True.
Love your breeding vid. So awesome to share your success tips just because you want to be helpful. Love that there's a strong woman in the game . In my community and circle of friends. I often feel like I am the only one. I'm going to be checking some more of your stuff out. Greetings from Wilmington Delaware!
Celestials are one of the fish I want to get once I set up my larger tank. Now, I know where I can get them ;).
Would love to see more Apisto keepers! I keep/breed Apistogramma Bitaeniata & Hongsloi! They're just great fish. :) Personable, albeit I find them to be sensitive as heck (much to my chagrin. they're similar to GRBs in that regard, imo!)
I'm actually getting a breeding group of L450s that apparently was sourced from you arriving tomorrow, super excited for the Hypancistrus adventures! Would love any advice/tips you have about these guys, I've been researching tons, and I'm still reading only very vague articles. Would love to hear your personal experiences!
I have my corydora sterbai for about a year and last month the female laid eggs, like 10 times. unfortunatly other fish ate their egss before i could remove them proberly. but last week i found to my suprise a baby sterbai in my java ferns. Was so exiting to see.
btw would love to see you work/ breed ramirezi. beautifull little fish
do the long fin green bristlenose need a special cave I am growing out a few and wanted to know if they need different cave from my other plecos.
I’ll never get over how bad ass your fish room is🖤🖤🖤🖤♥️♥️♥️♥️
Right on! Thanks again for your take on this! (Have you noticed that there is a strain or location that has orange and yellow fins? I was wondering if it was a human selected traight, or some natural variant.)
I Also LOVE breeding CPD and Erythromicrons. I have a couple videos on the colony breeding and also breeding over marbles or screens. However, it's my favorite, to colony breed in a 10 or 20L and plant it well on the bottom with moss and dense plants. I know some people get upset- but i also think hybrids of the two look really neat also.
Yes show us more of the amazing dwarf cichlids.
I got home on Friday to see my GBR pair spawning. They took turns to guard & fan the eggs. Ate the unfertilised. Very cool.
Then, Sunday morning, one of my Nerites rolled over them 🙃
Oh well, it was a good first try. I think the wigglers/fry would end up as a snack for my greedy Lemon Tetras 🤷🏻♂️
Yes! Dwarf cichlids. try Apist. Macmasteri! I wish I can get my hands on them but I know I never will because of how tight my budget is.
Thank you for Sharing.
Awesome setup 👍👍👍👍👍
Could you explain how to breed neon and glotetra widows?
I would love to see more dwarf chiclids! I think that would be awesome!
Rach...what are the feeding discs that you are using in this video?...Thanks, Bob
Love the South American Dwarf cichlids and breeding them.
Can I ask what the fish are called behind you, when you sit in the beginning? The large one? They look so cool! 🤩
Hi Rachel
I wondering if you can tell me what plants you have had absolutely thrive with adult bristlenose?
I recently got a Bolivian Ram, my first ever cichlid. I'm also curious about Apistogramma borelli, since they come from the same river as my Black Skirt and Black Neon Tetras.
I would love to try these little guys..
Anything Apistos, yes please!! I love my Cacs. So much personality.
Rachel I have 2 baby CPD and Dwarf emerald Rasbora hybrids have they been discovered before and if so could you link something please
I am down grading my fish tanks, i have broken down 2 more tsnks leaving me with only 3.
Wao nice Content !!!
Hi Rachel, Your videos are very educational and exciting to watch. Can’t wait to see what you do next.
Speaking of breeding CPD. I have two pairs in my 10g tank. Recent I have been getting 30 or so eggs weekly. All of them turned white. How come these eggs are not fertilized? Could it be the temperature is not warm enough? The tank has no heater, the night temperature is around 68F. Thank you!
Apistos, yes of course!
What fish do you recommend in a community tank with these fish? I’d like to add shrimp as well.
Love your vids ,i have 2 blood parrots who recently released eggs but none developed ,i see now their ready to breed again but picking another area in the tank can you make a vid about Blood parrot breeding ?
Have tried a few times to get some baby corys. Even with an air stone the eggs still mold. What can I try? 🤷🏼♀️
My grandpa's always trying to push his cpd projects onto me haha. Unfortunatly for him im way too busy trying to keep my trili cory fry alive U_U
Love your video,,,I think breeding neon tetra would be good
I'm new here and I love animals.
I’m curious about the corrydoras breading. Last week we had our first eggs, unfortunately the eggs have been eaten.
What temperature do you breed your bristlenose Plecos at?
I am in love with pygmy corydora
Have you ever worked with Brilliant Rasbora?
Wow Rachel , sorry your fish jumped, 684, here, ever considered raising Archer fish? I Once had a Placo that was so big I made the pet shop buy it back. I'm also fond of Farowallas...
Yes to the Apistos.
might i suggest a list of fish names discussed in the video? that would aide in looking the specific video up....
Capt Dave and LittleJohn
I agree. Ty 😊
I love your eyes wou6 you consider a teaching on how to do your eye shadow they are just fantastic I just love your eyes
i really don't know what I am doing in all honesty
I've only managed to successfully breed two species and both were by accident lol The first ones were blue Mickey mouse platies. I bought 4 females and one male. In a week I had double in 3 months I had over 100! The other species were albino peppered corydoras. Only got one baby to survive because they always eat the eggs but then again I wasn't really trying to breed in the first place. Also I think I might've bred my otocinclus? I started with 6 and now I always count 8 so unless they're cloning themselves I might have actually bred them accedently? Lol I have no idea!
Hey Pimpy,.. what type barbs were those in the tank nxt to the white clouds???Odessa Barbs correct?? I purchased 7@ lfs few days ago, lady said they were Blue bar barbs, then went on to say they were checker board barbs? i was like umm,.. noo i don't believe those are the correct name but she sold them to me for $1.99 the Blu barb price. happy about that but wasn't 100% on the species type. Also curious how to sex them, are females a plain drab color or are they same as males?
The content is very educational. I always luv to watch new vids.!!
Although i will say that i never have much luck with CPD's. They always die within a week whenever i've bought locally, i may have to reach out further in the breeding community for a start of a good stock. Do u sell any? I'd be interested if so,.. Again thx for the upload!! Keep doing what u do best;)
Do you have any cpds available?
I spy with my little eye something new and exciting coming under the 150 :-)
how much do you think you make from the fish room and out side tubs? i kinda screwed up school so im planning other things out
Not enough to live on
Really? You caught that fish with ease. I'd have to chase that thing around the tank a few times and half tear it down to get that little bugger, lol! Yeah, my lfs guy wants me to raise some more Super Red Bristelnose again. Just waiting for the magic to happen now, lol
Is there a particulat time of day that they breed? Like most tetras breed early morning before and during sunrise.
CPD's spawn non stop
👍
How do I order fish from you? I’d love to start breeding. 🥰
Id love to learn about dwarf cichlids that do well In hard water. So many dwarves I see prefer softer water.
Check out the various Lake Tanganyika shell dwellers. They all need hard water. Rachel has a bunch of videos on multies - Neolamprologus multifasciatus...
so funny, just started breeding mine a week ago the first time and had success. the only thing is, that i wasnt prepared with the right food. i am waiting for my brine shrimp to hatch and hope they stay alive until than.
You can order micro/walter worms online to feed them in the mean time and have those as back up food in the future. Just keep the colony alive. Or you can make an infusoria culture as well. Check out Mark's Aquatics on YT for breeding those and Aquarium Co-Op for breeding vinegar eels/worms also for feeding baby and adult fish.
