I've recently fallen in love with these guys so this is exactly what I was looking for!! Just care, if I had a few babies that would be awesome, but I just want my fish to be healthy and live their happiest life! Thanks for the awesome and super informative content!!🙏✌️
Great little fish, fun to watch and very active. They were initially wrongly classified as a Rasbora, but definitively reclassified in 2013 as a Danio.
In the netherlands these fish go for about € 3,00 Usually 5 for € 15,00. I have them in a 30L heavily panted nano tank and they are breeding and fry is growing up. I don't feed any special foods, just fine flakes and that works well.
Cool video on one of my favourite species.Thanks. You are the wrong way round though about their classification. They used to be considered as Rasbora but have since been reclassified as a Danionins, hence "Danio Margaritatus". Can't believe how pricey they are over there. They cost £3.50 to £4.50 over here in the UK.
I rescued a single male from a local Petco. He was the only one left in the tank, he looked healthy, and I worried that he'd probably get sick and die if left there. They haven't gotten any more healthy CPDs in since unfortunately, but he's absolutely thriving in the heavily planted 29g.
Been trying to breed these guys for a few weeks the big difference was your 2.5 hours after light to remove eggs. On first day of doing this I collected 15 fertile eggs. Love your vids Nick and thanks all you do not just for the Australian community but for the hobby at large.
I had 17 cpds in 4ft heavily planted low boy with 10 green kubotai rasbora. Thought they'd get on really well. However, the green kubotai hogged all the food chasing away the cpds and my cpds dwindled to 4. Managed to get a wee 10 gallon filled it with lots of epiphytes on driftwood with a male dragon betta and 5 ottos. Removed the remaining 4 cpd from the big aquarium to the wee tank and added 11 more cpds and now they are loving life. Always at the front of the tank enjoying their space

Really good content, and good advice as always. With your breeding Tubs, when do you start removing the methylene blue? You started feeding infusoria but the water had changed.
Day 1-3 is methylene blue and each day adding the eggs, but then need time to hatch and become free-swimming in the tub before moving them to a 2ft tank. So still unsure, my thought is to do small water changes to dilute out the methylene blue.
This is the only video I've watched that outlines feeding frequency. I read somewhere that they should be fed 2-3 times a day which seems like a lot/ a mistake in the article. Mine are doing okay so far with krill flakes
@@didnthurt4077 They are mostly opportunistic middle feeders. They are a carnivorous specie so they prefer food that is moving (it triggers their hunting instinct). Hi thank for the great video, I got myself 6 CPD's and want to breed them. I have been feeding them baby brine and the males are starting to show breeding behaviour. I setup a moss trap but haven't seen any eggs currently... Any ideas why?
could be a few reasons. 1) you are taking too long to harvest the eggs and they are getting eaten. 2) they are in a planted tank and there lots of other places to spawn instead of the moss trap? 3) they may be too young still. I also have found that natural morning light triggers their spawning. When I get eggs it's in the morning. If there aren't any there before say 11am, i won't get them that day. They are typically daily spawners though. Some groups seem to do better than others...haven't worked out why
