Early spring is exiting to watch them emerge from dormancy. Always funny to me . When people think something is wrong , when the first petioles lay flat with no traps on them . Not realizing they produced for strictly photosynthesis.
It's actually not good for the trap either, the trap needs to completely come to prevent bacteria from getting in. When he fed the first trap he should have manually removed anything that was left. In nature, rain and wind dose it, bit in a home setting it need to be done manually or it will develop bacteria and kill the trap and possibly the plant.
This fellow worked for 161 days to make this video but in case of me, I would have given up in 1 hour. Really nice video fella, nice job. Keep making more fantastic videos like this. 🙂
1- Lights was always on 2- We didn't track the humidity, just placed it in a terrarium and filled the bottom with some water 3- Mixed from perlite and peat moss, ratio 1:1 4- As you can see in the video, it's around 3 weeks
I use these types of videos to fallow the growing rate to my own plants . From their first non trap petioles, used strictly for photosynthesis in the spring , to longer summer petioles and good trap sizes and rapid turnout . To shorter fall petioles and the largest most rewarding trap sizes .
How do you get around the changes of light if you don't mind me asking? How many hours between each photos. I understand timelapse but don't understand how you don't have variance in light since I know these need good amount of light?
The light was setup in a studio, so it'd stay the same all the time. The timer is set differently depending on types of plants, growing stages, etc... Typically around 40 mins to few hours.
I recently bought 1 and planted 3 kinds of carnivorous plants 1 of them being the venus plant and I was wondering if the white stuff popping up is sign of them starting to grow or not

Great video.. Did you manage to get a stalk on it with more seeds? I did before and when on holiday, my aunt watered it - with tap water. I came back to a black plant like the dead ones seen around the main plant in video. Going to try again but collecting rain water first before I order one. They are quite partial to small amounts of cheese and a bit of ham. NOT too much - about the size of a small fly. Smaller than those in video. It's how I got the stalk growing which you don't normally see in videos.. ua-cam.com/video/p758acTInHI/v-deo.html
I'm also thinking of that plant with tendrils that are sticky..Wouldn't mind trying to get one on them living in my room. I can't think of the name of them. Pitcher plants can get too big so it's not those. Hang on while i wiki it!! Drosera capensis, commonly known as the Cape sundew -> ua-cam.com/video/41WJRKEJeuo/v-deo.html

The bug getting half his body disintegrated while he’s still alive was pretty rough to watch

The catch shouldn't be any bigger than 1/3 the size of the trap.

How tf do these things reproduce???
They make white blooms.

Where can I find this terrarium? It is exactly what I'm looking for.

You probably have a different species of flytrap from the one in the video. Based on your description you most likely have a “Spider” variant
