      Not to mention we don't let the yellow dandelions grow for a whole year, we mow them down every week, so how do they ever survive long enough to turn into the white ones?

      @@PrimeCircuit Yes, some trees do ever so slowly move from their positions to new positions. I believe plants are alive in a similar manner as animals, they just have different "organs" and different methods of communication. How is it if we mow them down before the process is complete can they completely regrow the stalk, flower and seeds over the course of a night or two? That's like auto regeneration, if that's how they work how come no one has isolated what ever gene is in the dandelion that makes them grow like that and applied it to growing food? So many people are clueless.
    Dandelion is an amazing plant. It is there for a reason and its job is to improve the soil. We can use the entire plant to make coffee, teas, food and medicine. No part of this plant is toxic. The plant is not a weed. All plants growing where we don’t want them are weeds. This is an incredible plant. It has nectar and pollen and is able to reproduce without any help from pollinators. The dandelion is the first food of the year for hibernating insects when they wake in the spring. The dandelions only stay around for as long as it takes for them to repair the soil. Once its job is done, it will leave. You can’t fight them. They always win. It takes one tiny root left behind to regenerate the whole plant. Pick them, eat them and enjoy them. When the flower is done, they become a field of wishes for us all! Love these plants and care for them! Enjoy all they have to offer. It is the first flower a child will give you and that makes it magical all by itself.

      Well, technically they are an invasive weed in the USA. However, I purposely leave my yard "weedy" because I hate having a large expanse of just grass. I like to see flowers and various interesting plants. This year I have something that looks like grass in a way but has pretty purple tiny flowers. I plan to attempt to identify it. Might even help them spread a little more since they are nice to look at.

      They only look bad if you want them to look bad. I think it adds a lot of color, and they fix nitrogen and bring up nutrients from deep in the ground which helps the rest of the grass.
      You could try adding some other seeds to your lawn to compete, like clovers and daisy.

    What? Nooo. I don’t know about that timeframe. These mofos spring up out of nowhere all yellow in the morning, then when I come home from work in the evenings they’ve all turned white.

    It looks like the flowers have a hard time opening. Did you film the blooming part in continuous light?

    • @seeminglyforever
      @seeminglyforever  3 роки тому +2

      I filmed it completely under 24 hours of light. Dandelion received natural light only during Winter time..

    • @ran.glacialis
      @ran.glacialis 3 роки тому +2

      @@seeminglyforever That explains why the flowers open so hesitantly. I'm surprised they even open at all considering it was filmed under completely constant light.
      Anyway, great video! I am always impressed by people who have time lapses running over such long times.

    Beautiful, many, many thanks! I usually eat the green part in salad. Should I wait a year first (wait that the flower is here) otherwise I kill the plant? We call it "flur da radic" when it is yellow and "bufin bufaia" when it is white, because you can "bufer", "blow" them out :-)
