So many people are clueless. Dandelion is an amazing plant. It is there for a reason and its job is to improve the soil. We can use the entire plant to make coffee, teas, food and medicine. No part of this plant is toxic. The plant is not a weed. All plants growing where we don’t want them are weeds. This is an incredible plant. It has nectar and pollen and is able to reproduce without any help from pollinators. The dandelion is the first food of the year for hibernating insects when they wake in the spring. The dandelions only stay around for as long as it takes for them to repair the soil. Once its job is done, it will leave. You can’t fight them. They always win. It takes one tiny root left behind to regenerate the whole plant. Pick them, eat them and enjoy them. When the flower is done, they become a field of wishes for us all! Love these plants and care for them! Enjoy all they have to offer. It is the first flower a child will give you and that makes it magical all by itself.
Its actually depressing that we mow dandelions, they have so much good use from being a pollinator to bees and butterflies, to being an edible plant for us.
I've loved dandelions since I can remember! I'm always blowing their seeds everywhere. They're so beneficial for us medicinally and for the honey bees, please help the dandelions thrive!
Well, technically they are an invasive weed in the USA. However, I purposely leave my yard "weedy" because I hate having a large expanse of just grass.
