Dude, Im a 59 year old do-it-yourselfer. I'm tired of putt'in off a project I know I can do myself. I got some starter gear and I turned my usual 3-d carved pumpkins into some really cool stuff. Now I want to expand my abilities, skulls flames and bullet holes are a great start. Your video is top notch and helps a lot . Thanks
What amazes me is after about 18:50 when you start adding the shading around the holes they jump off the canvas and come to life. I really appreciate the fixes as I’d get discouraged and give up rather than do a simple fix. Also beginners watching need to notice that as you’re doing the smoke you keep the air on continually so you don’t get spitting and tip dry. I picked that up from one of your previous videos Thx
Thanks for your comment and appreciate your comment and well done for picking up on those little tips, thanks for spending your valuable time watching my vids. 🙏🏻🤩
Those annoying spittings when ya press the air on the guns and you are right about that. I just realized last night that I should keep the air flowing to prevent that, but I truly wish airbrush companies would prevent that in the first place.
I stopped going to these airbrush lure makers and started watching your videos and my technique and art work has gone through the roof as well as my clients thank you.
Really you are a great artist. When I was young I used to put stickers of bullets on my bike to make it look good. People used to get impressed by seeing them and they used to ask me time and again where did you get it from. I used to say that I got it from outside. I like race bikes. And the artwork done on it impresses all the youth a lot.
I've been airbrushing through probably about 23 years I guess and I talked myself from watching people back then I didn't have no internet or anything that go watch my buddy that did shirts and of course I had airbrush magazine and that they really helped a great deal but there's just been able to see a person do it in action is always the best I mean you can learn so much from watching somebody and I'm glad that there's people like you out there that are putting their heart into showing other people I've actually met persons that that didn't want to show nobody thinking I guess they were scared someone would get their customers not me I taught for probably I guess close to 20 years and I had the guy asked me why aren't you afraid to get you know better than you and get your your business I said I want them to I wanted to be able to get better cuz they're at somebody's going to ask him how they learned and they're going to save me but today there's so much offered up on the internet that you know and don't cost nobody nothing but I'm thankful to the Lord that there's somebody like you out there doing that to help other people to understand may God bless you sir and your endeavors to teach and show people the wonderful art of airbrushing cuz it's not just about t-shirts it's about all art may Jesus Christ bless you and your endeavor
I love your lesson here, and it gives me ideas to do other things. Now, when ya did shadows around the bullet holes, I didn't really get it, I was like, "wait, aren't bullet holes indented?". Then when I saw you do one, it made sense, the metal parts (or paint particles of the metals) sticking out, so I'm thinking these bullet holes are from bullets shot from the other side, thus causing the metal or paint parts sticking out on that side (the exit side). So, actually, you can make bullet holes cause from either side (enter and exit side)... (yes, I Googled metal bullet holes lol). Keep up the great work, mate, I like watching your lessons!
I just tried this as it looked so cool. I'm a newbie at airbrushing and Wow. The results were amazing. Thanks for the video it was truly inspiring and easy to follow.
Looks great as always. I love how you curved the smoke around the top of the bullet hole. It really added to the 3D effect. Thanks for continuing to show us your tip and tricks!
Love this! They look amazing! I’ve had an airbrush for ages, but I’ve not dared use it. I’ve psyched myself out of it since I have no clue at all😂. Your videos are awesome, thank you for your tutorials, and for explaining it all so well ☺️
Many thanks for your comment and compliments on my videos , I plan on releasing more simple special FX to help everyone out I am glad this video is being so well received . Cheers 👍🏻
Pull it out and just have fun..There are paints available now that are just pour and shoot. You can slowly hone your craft while learning more and more about mixing and technique ..Its really not hard at all to just do basic painting. Bullet holes and flames are for advanced painters. Theres many other things you can do with an airbrush though...I started with noi help at all. I just learned by having fun and trial and error..I learn something new just about every time I pull it out and start a project
Great tutorial. I thought in your torn paper bullet holes and in this one, if you put a mark in the center of the grey part it will make lining up the template easier for the black spray.
I enjoyed watching your talents, just received my brand new double action kit, three guns and a compressor. I would have liked to learn more about the paints, thinners, and clean up. Had no idea there were water based paints for this. I was going to use my lettering paints, One Shot, but will start searching for the other. Thank you from Florida.
Very awesome work,,,!!!! May I ask,? I cannot recall ever seeing a bullet hole “entry “recreation, I imagine due to basically just be a hole. The two videos of yours I have seen are exit holes. I suppose it’s just not that big of deal. But have you ever thought of doing an entry hole and an exit hole side by side? What would the differences be? Thank you
The entry hole would be just that: a hole. The forward impact of a bullet on any surface will push the material out the back. So yes, these are exit holes.
lol great fun, enjoyed that. The damn black was struggling to flow well at the start of them shadows, but your white highlights are so fine, that paint is performing so well for a white
I think that, to make it more realistic, a good way paint metal color first, put the positive templates, and then paint it blue. Then, paint the black circles that replicate the holes.
I have an extraction fan which I turn on when I am spraying a larger area, apart from that the airbrush atomises so fine I don't have many issues...also my stainless steel bench helps as I can just wipe overspray and paint leakages easily. Hope that helps.
That new black paint that they came out with would be good for bullet holes it says it's 40 to 60% blacker not sure if it's possible to use in airbrushes not sure how they make it but it sure is dark seen a vid on it.
Hi, Thanks very much for all your videos and talent. Obviously I have subscribed and I do have a quick question. If I buy the Iwata compressor that allows two airbrushes, does this mean that I don't have to clean one brush before I put a different colour in it or will it dry out ? Thanks, Vince NZ.
That was aweasome. I've been needing to get an airbrush so I can paint a firearm with duracoat plus to mess around with. I used to paint cars. Whats a good descent priced airbrush you would recomend.
Nice video, I would like to do it on my motorcycle tank but I would like to know what kind of paint should I use for metal?...also, if I paint them on a black background how do I make the shadows around to make them tridimensional?... Thank you
I use Trident airbrush colours which you can safely clearcoat over, you can also get Createx colors or use house of Kolor urethanes if you don’t want to use waterbased all are safe to either acrylic or two pack clear. Hope that helps 👍🏻 In regards to shadows maybe add a little dark grey around the bullet hole which blends into black to allow for shading .
@@AirbrushAsylum thank you for the answer, the only thing I am worry about is that I will try to do them with a single action 350 Badger...hope I can. Thank you again
Absolutely nice Video, thank you very much. A new video with Instructions to Airbrush structures for skin and bones? Thank you very much from Germany 😊👍
The mixing bottles are from trident and come in a pack of 10 for about $17.50 AUD you can purchase through our website at airbrushasylum.com.au or via Trident dna-paints.com for international orders 👍🏻
When you switch to colors like the white to add highlights, or any dark to light color at all really. do you just switch the colors in the cup entirely or just add a few drops of a brighter color and mix it up? I've only really been doing basecoats so far and haven't done any art like this yet.

Nice, I like without the smoke. I can do this straight up in a few pencil types on sketch paper.

@airbrush Asylum, I see you have no drop sheet etc below or behind. is this because the paint does not travel too far?
