- Upside Down Pizza
Green Pepper thinly sliced
Red onion think sliced
Sauteed mushrooms
Meat of your choice
Pizza Mozzarella
Provolone
Parmesan
Pillsbury pizza dough in the tube or make your own or buy it fresh.
1 small can pizza sauce
Veggies of your choice, I enjoy peppers, onions and mushrooms on mine. I would recommend that you sauté the mushrooms first because they do let off a lot of water and will make your pizza soggy.
Meat of your choice. For this recipe I chose standard pizza salami and ham but this would work well with left over chicken, ground beef that was browned, Italian sausage. I could see endless possibilities here.
Cheese. I chose three different cheeses here. Pizza Mozzarella, provolone and parmesan.
I’m using a 10-inch fry pan with a handle that will withstand the 400-degree temperature of the oven. Brush the pan with olive oil or whatever oil you use the most. I put a think layer of thinly sliced peppers and topped that with a thinly slice layer of red onion. Next, I added some sautéed mushrooms and then the sliced meats. I added a good layer of cheese and then the provolone. Lay the provolone so that it covers the whole pan almost to the edges. This is the base for the sauce. Spread the pizza sauce on the provolone making an even layer. Now, open the tube of pizza crust and unroll it. Stretch it to fit over the pan. I trimmed away the excess but it you like lots of crust you can keep it all. Now tuck the pizza dough down the edges of the pan until the edges reach the bottom of the pan. Brush the pastry with oil. Place in a preheated 400 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes. I left mine in for 22 minutes and it was perfect. Let sit for 5 minutes before you flip the pizza over onto a cutting board.

I will be making this pizza. Thank you for sharing. We love good pizza. I was so happy when my husband loved pizza as much as I do. He's Italian, and I'm Irish/English/Cherokee Indian. My family didn't eat Italian food, and that's my favorite. I didn't know he was Italian until he invited over for dinner at his parents' house. I was in Heaven with real Italian gravy(sauce) sausages and pasta. Then his Mother made Sicilian deep dish pizza with homemade meatballs. Oh my it was delicious. The Christmas meal was manicotti with homemade crepe shells that literally melted in my mouth. She and Pops taught me how to cook Italian food. Funny thing is my husband really doesn't like Italian food as he says he had it all the time.
Have a great evening.
Wow-Wee just the way I like it. This is fit for King Henry The 8th. Thanks for sharing.
Hahaha, thank you!
This looks wonderful! I would turn that extra dough into garlic knots.
Yum. Being Sicilian this looks great! Black olives please.😊
Next time I make it I will use black olives, and maybe chicken and feta and alfredo sauce. It certainly goes together fast. Thanks for watching. Colleen
Nice idea. I love deep dish pizza
Nice job, think I’ll try it
Yummy.

This definitely looks delicious.
Oh, I've got to try this! It looks so yummy and easy to make. Thank you!!
Hi Kathy, It was super easy and was really yummy hot. I was more than we needed and when I went to snack on it later the dough was a bit soggy so next time I will use my homemade dough. Cheers, Colleen
What a great idea!! You could make 2 smaller ones , if just husband and wife🌞. And freeze the other. I did as you suggested let it sit for 15 min. Then turned it over, came out great! M in az. (Went to the $ store & bought some cheap rimmed pans)
O flip & freeze) super😄 thanks
This pizza looks so good! Thanks Colleen! 😊
I’m trying this for dinner tonight! I’m sure that my husband and kids will love this!❤
I plan to use my mandolin to slice my veggies super thin. Let sit 10 min before inverting. Invert on to a sheet pan and return to oven to brown the top.
I’ll give your pizza a try, never had a upside down pizza, looks delicious
Thank you! We really enjoyed it and its so simple!
Can’t wait to try making pizza this way. Thanks

Many years ago I made an upside down pizza. The recipe is on the Bisquik box or the Cook book. It wax over 20 years ago.

Thank you Keith for your kind words! I appreciate you watching all my videos. I hope you do try this. It is a good simple recipe. Take care, Colleen
Looks yummy
It was surprisingly good!
Thank you Debra, it is really good!
I going to try it with puff pastry that’s all I e got. Good luck ypthe me 🤟👍😊
Good luck Louise!
Looks great! When I’ve made them I used homemade bread dough. Yours flipped better than mine. I plan to use parchment paper next time because mine stuck to the pan a bit. I think you did great and I agree with letting it sit in the pan a bit before flipping.
Making it now...thanks for saying COOKED meat i wasnt sure if it should be cooked or not. Cant wait for it to be done!
Our pizza looks delicious. You have peaked my interest in trying to make one for my family. Thanks for sharing.
It certainly came out better than I expected and I can't imagine we will do it any other way from now on.
Your pizza looks delicious Colleen !! Gif bless ❤️🙏🙋🏻🌈🌈
Thank you Becky ❤️
Colleen I leave mine for 15 minutes to set before I turn it out.
Never heard of upside down pizza! Love the idea! Gotta try 😊
Hi Colleen, Glad you had a nice time off. This pizza looks great. It's another recipe I'll try. Thanks for posting.
Hello, it was so good to spend time with the grand babies. They are growing way to fast and I don't want to miss everything.
Yum!
Thank you Valorie, it definitely is a keeper recipe :)
Thank you Valerie! It is yummy indeed! And so simple. Cheers, Colleen
Looks good! You did a great job flipping it! I would probably wait 10 minutes before flipping as I am not as coordinated as you!
I think it would be good to wait a bit anyway. Next time I won't be so quick to flip.
This looked really good. I too might try sauteing the veggies first. I am really anxious to make this. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Cindy, ai think next time I would saute all the veg first to get rid of the soggy bit. But overall it was good.
Interesting concept. For the soggy, I'll saute all the vegetables. I really like deep dish pizza. At first I was thinking that it would be like a Detroit style but it isn't close. It's its own thing. I have all of the ingredients except for the provolone.
I'm happy that you had an enjoyable time with the family. Have a great week
Hello Lisa, I wasn't sure how it would come out but was pretty happy with it. I would saute all the veg first next time. And I will try it with homemade crust next time.
Ohhhh yum. I have some homemade frozen pizza dough in the freezer….maybe I should try this instead of the usual, thanks Colleen 🌷🇨🇦
Hope you enjoy it. Next time I will definitely try with homemade dough. Cheers, Colleen
It looked so delicious as you were cutting into it. Thank you for sharing your process. I will definitely try it.
It is really good Kathy, I would make a few changes next time but I will definitely make it again.
Looks delicious! Will definitely try. Thank you 😊
You are most welcome! Thanks for watching!
Oh Colleen, its about 3.30 am in the UK right now, and I am drooling at the finished pizza.Iam going to share this recipe with my grown up children to try it looks amazing...provolone cheese is very expensive here, I wonder if there is a cheaper alternative to use. Have to say,my heart was in my mouth waiting for you to do the flip! I was urging you on and even held my breath..talk about drama! What a success..fun times watching this..thanks Coĺleen!
Hello, I am happy to you follow along while I perform these crazy stunts. lol. I am always up to try something new and this one just seemed interesting. It turns out it was delicious too! Take good care, Colleen
That looks yummy I love a good pizza 🍕 I’ll try this for sure
Looks delicious and one I would try. Thanks ❤
Thank you Beth, I admit to being skeptical at first but it turned out great!
I've tried 3 times and mine turn out awful but I'm not giving up.
I had never heard of upside down pizza, but this definitely looks good. I would use that cast iron pan, saute the vegetables in it, then build from there. I can't do salami but agood ham or cooked hamburger would be nice, I'm sure.
I just found your channel today, and I've been binge watching your videos. I live just across the rocks from you in Sundre,AB. It's nice to see a fellow Canuck doing my kind of cooking.
Hello Mary! It is wonderful to have you here on the channel. My husband drives through Sundre hauling power poles so I know where you are for sure. Cooking the vegetables ahead would be a great idea because it would take the extra water out of it. Thanks for subscribing. Cheers, Colleen
Mmmmmmmmmmmm❤❤
It is a good recipe. I am adding it to my recipe book!
I would have thought you’d put the cheese in first thing 🤔🤔🤔
I miss you I lost my mom but I'm back with you luv you
Microwave your peppers first to get that extra water out 😁
That's a great idea, thanks for sharing it. Cheers, Colleen
Sounds a lil like a deuce calzone
Oregano

Please leave out gd my father's name in your voice and video Please and know that you are not doing it for wait it's worth Please stop and do want you with out the vain of are of are lord Please
This definitely looks delicious.
Is was really pretty good. I would do a couple of things different next time. I would saute all the veggies to remove the extra water, make my own pizza dough and let it sit for 10 minutes before I tried to flip it.
This definitely looks delicious.
Hi Cindy, It was very good. Things I would change next time are that I would saute all the veggies to get the water out. I would try it with homemade pizza crust or buy it at the deli. I would also try chicken with alfredo sauce. The only downfall is the cost of the cheese. It is certainly not cheaper to make the pizza this way over buying it from a pizza joint.
