This is one of the most underrated dunks in the Slam Dunk Contest from the NBA. One of the most forgotten dunks. This was the first of 2 dunks from the final of 2003, between Desmond Mason and Jason Richardson. It was a great final. This one shows Desmond Mason doing a between the legs, with the left hand. After this, J-Rich would do a alley-oop double pump reverse. D-Mason would come back with a 2-handed windmill. Jason Richardson needed a 49 to win it. As we all know, he did the alley-oop, between the legs from the baseline, probably the best dunk in SDC history. But y'all gotta remember, this one belongs in the top 10 too. Desmond, we miss your dunks, hope you'll be healthy all of next season.

I deff agree it's 1 of the most undurrated dunk in NBA slam Dunk history. It's called the Lean between the legs dunk. He did that Jordan dunk (the lean) so he lean and also put it between the legs with left hand man. That's just sick!

for me, that dunk is better than Carter between the leg in 2000 because of the hangtime

belmar69 It’s also harder to do while holding the ball (ie: Desmond’s dunk)

Both, and remember he dunked with his left hand, but he is right-handed. And look how high he jumped. He could dunks look spectacular, for example a 2-handed windmill, it looks natural, finesse, he was just spectacular.

how far he was out, how high he brought the ball up before putting between his legs, and the overall shock value which came with this dunk, i remember watching this and normally you have a idea of what they are going to do, i had no idea he was gonna do this.

Yeah Kenny Smith is so funny, I love TNT Inside the NBA where he is right now. Last time, Mike Bibby demonstrated the pick-and-roll. Chris Webber set the pick. As Kenny said: "So, we've got maybe the best shooting point guard, the best passing big man (Bibby and Webber), and we've got Charles (Barkley), a bad defender. Haha so funny

@woutakasinistra Yea i know, im not even talking shit, im saying he should of won the 2004 dunk contest, he pretty much won it with the off the glass between the legs, which nobody in the NBA has never done and will never do ever again, And he was so close to completing a 360 between the legs,

Wrong. There's a reason why they're hype. Firstly check which hand and leg he did that with. Then check how high he brought up the ball with the non-dunking hand before putting it between his legs, then check how high he was when he put it between his legs. Then check how far he planted his feet and jumped from. Then look at his almost "windmill-like" form. Even his entire take-off route wasn't that optimal, usually instead of dunking from the front, they'd dunk it from the sides of the basket. Nobody had done this before and still they haven't done it, to to mention the between the legs dunk hadn't even been done that many times yet when this occurred (Only Orlando Woolridge, Isaiah Rider, Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter IIRC).
Just for reference, compare this dunk to when Kobe did it, Kobe did the easiest version of this dunk and it was done exactly opposite to all those things I listed.
