I could tell you was shook. I'm a white boy but I grew up in that environment. I lived in OT, Ghouls, coconut grove, And liberty city. I also lived in NYC for over 10 years in Harlem. I'm 41 now, so I got a lotta life I've lived. You handled yourself in the right manner. I'm thankful I grew up around the hoods. It taught me how to survive. Now I'm chilling and living my life in Indonesia. Far far away from all that 😅 but you ain't really seen a hood until you've seen a third world country hood like I have here. Stay humble 🙏🏻 and always thank God "Allah" 🙏🏻

I moved out the hood and got my life together to be able to do so, but man I can’t say sometimes I miss the genuine vibe of sitting outside w everyone all day and just feeling the love. Unfortunately they turned it into a war zone years before I left so being outside is a thing of the past knowing you can lose your life from strays or just being related to someone or simply cause you favor them.

Ya humbleness protected you. The people that live in neighborhoods like Overtown are usually always cool if your humble and your intentions are genuine. They can smell bullshit a mile away and they are very protective of their environments because for most it's all they know and they have experienced a lot of trauma causing events. I been living in Florida for 14 years and I'll tell you this, even though they are high crime areas, I feel 1000x safer in places like overtown then in some of the gated communities and areas where they don't like minorities. I have been throughout the ghouls as well. I done been through almost every hood from Dade county to Palm beach and in between just due to an old job I had and we had no choice but to be in the mix with the people for 6+ hours a day. Salute to your channel, and I'm gonna follow just off respect for how you handled yourself in the trenches. Major props for asking for the light fade too😂

After reading your comment it stung me a little bit and I had a epiphany. I’m in my 40’s now(46 to be exact) and definitely understand what you were saying about getting older and having regrets. I didn’t start traveling until I hit my late 30’s and should have been doing that. I was too busy hanging out, having fun, partying and pretty much wasting time. Having dead end relationships with Women that I knew earlier on meant me no good but I thought my love and time could change them and I was terribly wrong. Threw away a lot of my prime years and really don’t got nothing to show for it. The stuff that counts that counts anyway like a wife and kids etc. Didn’t mean to leave this long comment. Born and raised in Miami lost two friends being shot and will never forget my 40 years in Miami.
Bruh understand it’s extreme poverty there and people not mentally right stay safe be a lil more aware in certain areas in Miami, that feeling you felt was death lingering you can smell it in the air by Lincoln field
Man I felt this walking in Brownsville in NYC. Walked past some dude arguing on the phone telling someone to come outside and fight him and maybe 20 mins later someone was shot on that corner, dunno if it was related, and that was the nicer part of Brownsville.
I had walked past a certain point and something just changed, idk the people, the look of the area, something just wasn't right. It wasn't even fear, there wasn't sweat, my heart wasn't pumping, but something told me the further I walked, the more dangerous it would be and I would be going far past the point of "mind your business and no one's going to bother you" and into "those niggas on the corner are about to mind your business for you."
So being in poverty makes a person insane

This is one of the hoods in Dade that was crazy dangerous in the 90's and early 2000's. All that shit is crazy and next to each other; Overtown, Liberty City, Brown sub and Lil Haiti.

I just moved to Brickell from New York. Overtown will be completely gentrified in 5-10 years. The real estate is close to Wynwood-Downtown and it’s valuable. They’re already raising rents and knocking down all the projects

Overtown,rolling 60's, and new Orleans, Oakland ca,is my favorite hood video's.....based on it was different generation, and real hood structure, what I mean about that is, you don't see no guns,dope,money,just showing the positive impact in the hoods..We all know ,them hoods is with the business ,no different from any other hood,but blacks are under the microscope, think ,be positive, creatively, everybody got guns,money, dope...we want to see the creatively with our youth,ONE LOVE.
