  • Learn how to safely deal with big roundabouts with traffic lights or give way roundabouts.
    This is lovejits first driving lesson on big roundabouts. We talked about how to deal with big roundabouts safely and then went through each roundabout taking various exits.
    Initially he was a little unsure of how to select the correct lane and how to move left to exit, but by the end of this lesson he was very happy with his progress.
    How to drive safely. How to pass
    This video is filmed during a driving lesson. It is filmed for educational purposes.
    Throughout the video there are highlights to show how you should be driving safely.
    I hope this video will be useful! :)

      @@roxel9993 I’ve personally had 1 instructor who would take a really disappointed and harsh tone when I’d get something wrong (older guy in his 50’s or so). Didn’t end up passing with him and had to change cause it was costing me money but I wasn’t getting much better. I changed eventually to a much younger guy who I ’d talk football and just life in general with and ended up passing. You have to be comfortable with your instructor, please, never feel because they are older that they can just speak or act anyhow to you. It’s your money firstly, but your happiness and peace of mind in an already challenging environment learning to drive. All the best.

      @@roxel9993 Me too I had an instructor she must've been in her 70s tbh but like she'd say odd stuff idk how to explain. One time I was hesitating to turn at traffic lights and she went "This is ridiculous" lol. But like sometimes she'd be so harsh but it also helped in solidifying the rules into me I guess. I found that she'd be too strict with the rules, especially with braking; she wants me to brake reeeeaally smoothly. The second instructor I had was a man probably in his 50s and he was sooo chill lmao. I can't believe he just trusted me. And he was so nice.

    On a spiral roundabout I agree with an initial right signal on approach but when your in your lane spiralling outwards would a right signal not be confusing as other motorists may think you want to change lanes ? Just a left signal when exiting ?

    There’re no big traffic controlled roundabouts in my area, as I have never driven one before I do find them more confusing than giveaway roundabouts. As a new driver, I do find big roundabouts kinda daunting at times, in fact I had a few close encounters when exiting big roundabouts. Basically, when you’re trying to move over to the left for the exit of a big roundabout, sometimes you get idiots speed past you and cut you off from the left despite the left signal, which can lead to collision if you don’t react to it by slowing down or staying in the right.

    When both lanes go right and you chose left.. the cars in right MAY THINK YOUR indicator is to swap lanes. As the highway code states UNLESS signs and markings state otherwise, then signal. As the Marking is advising to turn right only . The signal can be confusing. We know a signal is designed to help not confuse.

    Great video. Long time driver here, but I don't live in a region with spiral roundabouts, so I'm trying to learn how to do them properly for when I do drive on them. Great explanations. I do have a question about the signalling. These are not standard roundabouts as they have multiple marked lanes. so, should not signalling be for lane changing when you find yourself in the wrong lane? If I saw a car in a left lane to me indicating right I would think they wanted to come into my lane?

    • @ClearviewDriving
      @ClearviewDriving  2 роки тому +1

      Hey thank you for watching, with the big spiral roundabouts it’s always a good idea to start with a right signal at the entry to make it clea.
      You would also only signal left when you’re about to exit. So if the vehicle next to you is signalling, they should just be leaving the roundabout from that lane.
      With multi lane roundabouts you can just go in and follow your lane round as it just becomes a big one way system or a ring road.
      Hope that helps

    Driver should to take a lesson how to hold steering wheel correctly. This is very common problem when you sit in to truck. So many drivers are lost, mamy more gears mean less time for both hands with steering. In Scandinavia we do lessons how to drive and steer just with one hand. Fully loaded truck need to change gear from zero to 30 miles 5x times during steering wheels.

    why do you teach to leave roundabout in right lane, and not the left as it is usually taught? on the test it is a fault if you exit roundabout in right lane whilst left was clear. only when you overtake or/and plan to go right soon after on the next roundabout/junction you can choose right from what I was always told on other videos etc. So would be good to have answer for that :)

    Busy roundabouts are easier if you can move off the exact second you want to. It is easier to get into gaps if you can start briskly as the gaps move with traffic flow. If you stop to give way with your wheels straight and the car pointing precisely in the direction of travel required you do not need a sluggish angled move off.

    The last roundabout is not designed correctly. Once you enter to take the 3rd exit, The spiral should take you to the lane from which you could take the 3rd exit. However , you deliberately have to switch lane to take the 3rd exit and there could be someone to your left.

  • @rexstout8177
    @rexstout8177 4 місяці тому

    The older I get, the more it seems to me that dedicating lanes to a particular exit is a cause of more problems than solutions. The elegant simplicity of roundabouts is lost when one stresses about whether the correct lane has been chosen, not to mention the dangerous last minute 'corrections' we sometimes see.

    • @ClearviewDriving
      @ClearviewDriving  2 роки тому +2

      Hey at big roundabouts if you know your exit is after 12 it’s better to start in the right
      On the roundabout without the traffic lights, the middle lane also goes right but you would only know that if you’re familiar with the area but it’s not a good idea to use the outside most lane to go around the roundabout
      It’s difficult to explain but it’s definitely safer to start right and then spiral out
      With teaching new drivers I don’t want to teach them to do these roundabouts and know them off by heart, it’s about just learning how to safely manoeuvre any roundabout (so a safe rule they can apply to any roundabout any area)
      Hope that helps :)
