The difference is that Gamefreak develops, Nintendo publishes. One thing has nothing to do with the other. This will take no effect on game developing in the slightest...
@@notsoAceTrainer Gamefreak develops under nintendo's rules and instructions and it's obvious with the deadlines. Which means it has everything to do about it.
Nintendo needs to lose this case otherwise other companies will take a note from Nintendo and stifle creativity and innovation by patenting their mechanics and preventing other people who want to make a game.
Nintendo needs to lose this case because if they win it's yet another corrupt piece of trashy toddler getting their illegal way with money, that they illegally acquire from the illegally overpriced games.
Hope you don't mean me, as I am not american and I did study a fair bit of law at university, so I can at least have a bit of an attempt at interpreting it 😁
This case really makes me deeply sad. I've never been a Palworld fan, I tried it via Gamepass and it didn't really hit me, though the game's still fun and a lot of other people have a lot of fun with it. But what disappoints me is that nobody wins there. On one side, indie games/monster catching games are most likely to be under an even greater pressure and people may lose an actually enjoyable game. On the other hand, many people start to hate both Nintendo and their fans whether they support the lawsuits or not. I was so stressed on that day I had to go offline for a good while to take a break from that stream of negativity. I don't know, I just hope that Pocketpair wins the court.
I absolutely feel the same way. I do understand that they have the right to do it as whatever they infringed upon is Nintendo's patent, but I fear the repercussions it might have on the community as a whole. There was innovation in the way you play in PLA, sure, but we don't know if another dev could take the concept and evolve it even further with their own spin on it. Now, in case they win, it likely will not happen.
@@notsoAceTrainerYeah, I feel like, as more years pass, it gets only harder to be a Pokemon fan. It's just a controversy after a controversy. It makes me so tired. Yeah I agree. There is nothing wrong with the game but leaning into the whole Pokémon aspect wasn’t a good move in their part. My problem is that some of them actually look like the Pokémon we know and it rubs me the wrong way, it looks like a Copymon id see in mobile game ads. They could’ve made completely new designs like TemTem, that game is a clone but it is actually original while keeping the inspired monster catcher mechanics.
Yeah, that might have been what got then in Nintendo's radar but they likely cannot sue for that as they are not technically copies (maybe law-wise), so they went after another thing.
Yeah that’s kinda what put me off of Palworld. I know Pokémon doesn’t own a single concept that they used as a basis for designs, but there’s a difference between two monsters based on the same thing and straight up having grass Cinderace or not Lycanroc. Digimon, Yo-Kai Watch, Temtem, Nexomon, Coromon, Cassette Beasts, etc prove that it’s possible to have designs with the same basis but different execution. Heck the Dragon Quest comparisons people use is actually an example of how the same ideas can be executed differently.
99% sure they have nothing to do with this. First, the leaks could all be fake - as they've been for the last 3 years or so. Second, I think it is more due to the fact that they literally just ended a 15M$ lawsuit the day before filing for this one. They ended one, started another - both with the Pokémon Company too.
@@notsoAceTrainer fair points. I wasn’t saying the leaks are real, i figured Nintendo might not want people talking about leaks because it may encourage real leaks
This dissapoints me. I like Pokèmon, and I like Palworld. Pokèmon is an RPG,whereas Palworld is more along the lines of Ark Survival with Anime Monsters instead of Dinosaurs. Are there design similarities betweren some Pals and Pokèmon? Yeah, there's no denying it. But who are Game Freak to complain about inspiration? Tyranitar is literally Godzilla and it's paradox form is just Mecha-Godzilla. I'm dissapointed in how Game Freak seem to think they now OWN the monster catching genre. I hope Game Freak and Nintendo lose this case,Nintendo is way too sue happy these days and Game Freak needs to accept that they don't own a genre. It's not about the designs, that's the issue. They might have put them on their radar, but their not the cause of this. So, inspiration is not the problem... it's something else, likely a game mechanic - which is an issue for the genre itself, considering how much the work of different minds can evolve an idea.
@@notsoAceTrainer Pokemon's game mechanic is infridgement itself then considering the whole core game mechanic exists since the 80s. And even the slightest change they tried to make on legends arceus, the whole game mechanic is copy/paste from monster hunter.
I may like Pokèmon, but I'm really sad to see Pokèmon bullying other monster franchises like Digimon, Monster Rancher, Yu-Gi-Oh, Neopets, Palworld, Yo-Kai Watch, Bakugan, Monster Hunter, Monsuno, Moshi Monsters, Nexomon, TemTem, Monster Sanctuary, or Chaotic for Pokémon to stay on top especially with petty lawsuits and patent trolling. I am really sad to see what Pokèmon have become. Fans supporting Pokèmon bullying fans of other monster franchises as well as attacking fellow Pokèmon fans who have disagreements with the directions Pokèmon is going through makes me feel ashamed on admiring Pokèmon. Pokèmon needs to have some friendly competition because Pokèmon doesn't own the word monster taming genre. People are allowed to like other monster franchises besides Pokèmon as well as criticizing Pokèmon. Pokèmon should be ashamed of themselves for their actions such as bullying other monster franchises as well as monopolizing the monster taming genre. If Pokèmon wins the lawsuit, it would be the end for various monster franchises like Digimon, Monster Rancher, Yu-Gi-Oh, Neopets, Yo-Kai Watch, Palworld, Bakugan, Monster Hunter, Monsuno, Moshi Monsters, Monster Sanctuary, TemTem, Nexomon, or Chaotic as well as potential new monster franchises.
I think you misunderstood the current lawsuit information. Other monster tamers you mentioned are not in any sort of danger - the situation here is simply related to some kind of (most likely) gameplay mechanic that Palworld also uses. Other games/franchises do not have it and so are not affected directly by it and are in no danger. The problem is the precedent it creates which might stagnate the genre.
Palworld is a disgrace and I am supporting Nintendo and The Pokemon Company on this. I hate Palworld. Personally I want the game shut down. But whatever happens in the conclusion of this lawsuit happens. But there is no chance i am going to play a game that clearly ripped off another franchise.
@@NitwitsWorld what is weird about hating a game that was created from stolen designs and concepts? Seems like you just want to defend a creators who have no integrity. And that says a lot.
@@JamiePokemonTrainer I'm too poor to buy the game. So I can’t tell you if the game is good or not. Plus, I have other things to worry about. Like banking and moving
Palworld was INSPIRED by Pokemon. It did not rip them off. Besides, technically Pokemon ripped off another game called Dragon Quest. Nintendo does not have the ability to sue for gameplay. Not to mention simply looking SIMILAR to a pokemon doesn't make it a rip off. If that were the case Pokemon should also sue Digimon as well, as there are also plenty of pokemon that Digimon ripped off. Simply just because you do not like the game does not mean that Palworld needs to be shut down, and the reasoning for people and/or Nintendo wanting to sue Palworld is bullshit because Game Freak have blatantly ripped of other games and franchises as well. It is honestly super petty to see Nintendo and Game Freak suing Palworld when the two games only share SOME gameplay aspects and some pals only SLIGHTLY resemble Pokemon. If Nindento and Game Freak want to sue Palworld for similar monster designs, that'd be like Yu-Gi-Oh suing Game Freak for blatantly ripping them off for the fact that Reshiram and Zekrom are literally just the Blue Eyes White Dragon and the Red Eyes Black Dragon respectively, only Reshiram and Zekrom have been "Poké-fied." Just because two designs look similar doesn't mean one can claim that it is a blatant copy, especially if the two designs have enough differences to be able to know which is which. Plus, people who mindlessly hate on Palworld don't seem to have any idea of how different the two games truly are. Sure both Palworld and Pokemon have the whole monster catching mechanic, but Pokemon is a RPG style monster battling/trading game. Palworld is an openworld sandbox survival game which allows you to do whatever you want with your world and your pals. The two games at their basic are two entirely different games with different gameplay styles in mind. Plus, I'm pretty sure Pokemon doesn't allow you to basically enslave/butcher your pokemon, nor does Pokemon have guns in it, not even in the Japanese version. Imo, people who just mindlessly hate on Palworld either haven't actually played the game to compare it to Pokemon, haven't a single clue as to what they're talking about, don't care, or a mixture of all. Either way, Palworld is different enough from pokemon that Nintendo doesn't have any legs to stand on in any argument, and Palworld will most likely win the lawsuit. Plus, Nintendo once tried to sue another company for the a similar reason and they lost the lawsuit because, and I quote, "You cannot copyright gameplay."
@@steelhorizon3133 yeah, none of what you said changes anything. Palworld did rip off pokemon. That was the creators intention. They knew how popular pokemon was so they decided to ride off the success of pokemon by stealing the designs and concepts from it. Nintendo does have ground to sue them and rightfully so. Palworld is a lazy game created from stolen ideas and it deserves to be shut down. I will not listen to any Palworld fan as they are too pulled in by the lies and manipulation from the creators.
