- Todays Ford Model A question of the day comes from Paul in Hawaii!
His engine block has a quarter inch hole in it and he wants to know if there’s a way to fix it or does he have to get a new block?
@ModelA gives good advice on how he can fix it!

Good advice! Simple and budget friendly. I’ve had cracked blocks and was able to stop drill ends grind a channel so ole JB had a place to bond to. Worked fine! Last a long Time! Just make sure repair area clean and grease free!
That’s awesome!
My oldest son put a rod through the block of his first car; a FWD econobox. He asked me if we could fix it. I did not want to hurt his feelings, but the damage was terminal! I still chuckle at that every time I see that rod hanging out in the barn.
Good info Team Shinn!
Thanks 👍
Wow, awesome share, thank you, have a wonderful week!
Awesome advice from Paul, Mode T. Thanks for that! I hope you all have a wonderful week.
Thanks! Have an awesome week!
I had a friend who collected the fine metal brake lathe shavings and mixed them with the epoxy making it into a steel patch, he believed it made the glue much stronger, and as far as I know, it worked. Good luck, Mike ASE
Wow that’s interesting for sure! Have a great week!
Tina/ Paul, you’re right that works. The key is to clean and scuff area well to make a good bond. I have hole in the front under the water pump. I but I have 3 year and 25,000 miles plug of JB weld repair on my engine. I will drive it anywhere. In fact I do!
See you down a country road.
God bless Model A’s
Super awesome! Have a great week!
I tried JB Weld on a Model A block too. Liquid Steel also works but yeah you need to clean it good and let it dry.
Mahalo for the shoutout 😂😂😂🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Awesome!!
great info Model T
Have a good day you two.
You do the same!
If Paul says it'll work, I guess I'll give it a whirl on mine. I've one thats cracked stem to stern along the water neck...and I do enjoy a challenge!
Best of luck, I hope it works well for that also! 🙏
In Canada we call that a window. Usually made by a connecting rod. That looks like a sand hole.
Hi Friends! More and More GREAT information! THANKS!
Awesome!
Love you guys. Thank you for what you do. Love it and the Model A's. God bless you.
Thank you so much, big hugs and God bless you!
LOL the first bit of the video, Paul acts like he just got told to sit still and behave. 😅Love you both, God bless, stay safe!
Lol, he had a very serious look sometimes when he’s thinking…I always ask him, what’s wrong…he’s like nothing’s wrong, I’m thinking 😂
Have a blessed week, big hugs!
Really good information Tina! (This looks like old footage repurposed.) I like the short Q&As.
JB Weld is a fabulous thing. For that water jacket application, would the basic JB Weld in paste form work or would the putty version be better?
Hi! I put a link to the one we like in the description 💕
Have a wonderful week!!
@@ModeltshinnFantastic! Thank you!
Is that the Tudor you mentioned earlier that was at the restoration shop you are sitting in front of?
It’s the Tudor we sold last year. I’m taking some of the questions from long videos so they aren’t lost and people see them easier 😁💗
Great video you two
Thanks 💕
@@Modeltshinn You are welcome. Please tell Paul I said hi.
Could it be brazed for a permanent fix?
I could be done I suppose, but it will only last so long and at some point still need to be replaced.
