- In todays video I’m going to show you how to fix warped kick panels!
Years ago these Kick Panels were put in this 1930 Ford Model A, then at some point Gandalf was exposed to weather and the kick panels got very wet, dried, back and forth till the panels warped very badly.
I love fixing Ford Model A’s, keeping them looking great & driving and treating them like they’ll be around another 100 years!!
Have an awesome week!
Thank you @ModelA for being my camera man for parts of my video today!

Great job Model T...
Thank you 💗
Nice save and savings! Thank you as always for taking the time to teach us. LOL'd at "Oh, we're gonna park". God bless, have a great week ~ Chuck
Thank you Chuck, have an awesome week!
What a lovely, warm hearted ride at the end, but the straightening of the kick panels, is a darn good tip and a way of doing! That sun we also have here in Curaçao. You both are just as I am here, taking out my wife for an ice cream in the model A. Tops Tina very again lovely footage and Paul as always with his 10 million dollar smile 😃. God bless my dear Model A friends!🙏👍🏼🇺🇸 I like so much when Paul says MADE IN THE USA, and that I am very positive about👌🏼👍🏼
America made items are simply the best!!!!! And that you can find back in all the vintage made items, automobiles, tools and so on!!!!!
Thank you so much Myron 💗
Yup......Get a bigger Rock!! You did good.
Thank you very much!
This video is so timely! I have just taken off the drivers side kick panel and was wondering how to fix it. Now i know! Thanks for sharing and take care you two!
That’s so awesome!! Have a wonderful week!
They look like new.👌
I use a small screwdriver with the bit end ground down to a rounded ( not sharp) end, to align screw holes. Nice job Tina.👍
Thank you, have a great week!
Good tip! Most people in the past would have purchased new ones? It is great to reuse what you have!
Thank you!
Aw, you two love birds!
I thinking that it would be a nice idea to put a plastic backing on those panels to protect them from water intrusion. Even trash bags could work. Gandolf is definitely a sorted out car; just needs a new windshield and some paint on the fenders and it will be awesome.
That would be a great idea!
Great video. I have a panel or two to straighten in my 30 Tudor. So this video comes at the right time. Mine is actually a door panel. I have some of the cement walkway pieces to hold it down. They are 24"× 24" × 2" thick and flat and smooth in the top side so that should do the trick while drying.
Thank you! That’s going to be a great project!
Nice work Model t
Thank you so much 💗
Tina, so simple- water helped mis-formed the panels and a smart lady and water brought them back to be close the original shape.
Looking good!
Thanks for the tip.
See ya down a country road
Steve
Thank you Steve 💕
Great job. Too bad no drive-ins anymore.
Lol, thank you!
model T you do great work !!!
Thank you Mat 💕
@@Modeltshinn you are welcome Model T
Tina, love your videos which are very well done and informative!!!🫶
Thank you so much 💕
You know you two have a good racket going. Paul with the heavy stuff/subjects, and the general. You with the lighter stuff like this and communication between the two of yous make for a complete Model A “voice”. History, contemporary and mechanical is spilled from both of yous.
I don’t have a Model A but my grandfather did, and my love of the Ford History has me here in all respects.
Much love you guys, kudos on the life you have.
💯
That is such a beautiful comment, thank you so much 💗 Huge hugs to you!
White vinegar is better for mold also removes rust, rinse after using for rust.🙏 Long rides in a model A should always include ice cream, black walnut if possible.
Good to know, thanks! That sounds like a perfect idea, but mine is chocolate chip mint!
Turned out great.
Paul your the man!
Good job!!
Those panels came out pretty good!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽
The whole interior really came around nicely. Pretty sweet car now. Lots of power too!
@@ModelA I can’t wait!!
I actually have dreams of driving my five window coupe. 💯🙏🏼
@@rynetakeuchi4382 Gandalf went on his first real tour yesterday. Zero problems. Identified a couple adjustments to make. Video coming soon!
@@ModelA can’t wait to see the next video!!
Model T your kill’n it! Great job and what a way to call it a day with a scenic drive in a Model A.
Thank you so much 💕🥳
I like to paint the back of the cardboard panels with Rustoleum for protection cause I don't think I could pick up a rock that big.
Lol 🤣 the rock was pretty heavy, but I think I need to workout!
The wood materiel is called Masonite, It comes in 4X8 sheets
Was it Masonite back then too?
I’m not in the knowledge of back then?
Are you talking about the kick panel backing? If you are, it’s not any kind of wood, it’s a paper type material…maybe you’re talking about something else I said?
@@marktaylor9975I’d have to do research on that, all I do know is I had to be very careful with the amount of water I was using and not to rub the material in any way because it would start to peel on the top surface like cardboard would if you got it really wet.
@@Modeltshinn I was talking about door panels in general but I don't know what it was originally. Masonite would make a great material to make a new replacement
Never knew you could do that thanks for another great video Going to try it on my model A And my can I mention my corvair
Thank you! Yes I’m sure it applies to a lot of older vehicles especially 💗
I think Paul was changing out the winter air for summer air in the tires.
🤣😂
Yes, time to put away the studded air til next winter.
@@ModelA I said it once quite a while back, but I'll day it again! Your video info is very worthy!
But your humor is priceless!
Thanks again, Paul! 😂☺️
looks good .
Thanks!
Did you know the front seat of the Model A is known as an SOB seat (actaully any bench type vehicle front seat). That is the 'Slide Over Baby' seat. If you on a date and it is going well the driver makes lots of hard Right turns. If the date isn't going so well you make lots of left turns. Now you know about the SOB seat.
Not what you thought.
That’s funny!
Muy bueno!!
Awesomeness 👍
You're gettin Gandolf lookin nice, those side panels really looks good, snazzes the old timer up. Good tip for that type of material, it would apply to any type of similar material. Nice views on the ride, Paul cracked me up with the parking grin, funny. Thanks Model T, hope you all have a good week, god bless.
Thank you so much Dan! Have a blessed week!
Greed is good! Oops! I mean Gravity is good! The Ferengi in me popped out.
"You clothe your women??? Savages..." -Ferengi businessman.
is there a resource where we can get the patterns for the kick panel
shapes? our car never had any (since we've owned it) and I'd like to make my own. Any ideas for how to get the patterns?
I don’t personally know of anywhere to get them, not sure if they are in catalogs? If not then if you belong to a Model A club, see if someone will let you take one out and trace it?
You DO know not to mix and Bleach and (Amonnia Sp?) Right??
Yes, of course.
Yes, to have any reaction at all you’d have to have enough of both to create a reaction, I didn’t have enough of their, but thank you for watching out for me 💗
