chamber of secrets is the most underrated tbh, it keeps that magic that the first movie had while being so completely sinister. Dobby, tom riddle, memorable quotes, lucius malfoy, quidditch, petrification, etc. so great

I even liked it when I was younger and I liked it still the most in all Harry Potter movies chambers of secrets is my fav since it was my first harry potter movie and it's vibe is just incredible so underrated and it's an really unpopular opinion but I don't like the prisoner of azkaban movie at all when I was a kid I thought this movie is boring literally and when I thought no I should watch it again cause people say it's the best but when I watch it as an adult I can still say it's pretty boring I just want the movie to get ended nothing else when I was watching and when I watch the chambers of secrets like I can't leave the movie in middle no matter I'm sitting or sleeping never felt the pace is slow always thinks it's just perfect the philosopher's stone is also good and The half blood prince as well
My favorite moment that they left out of the movies is when they are at the Lovegood house and Harry goes up to lunar room and there is pictures of all her friends with little writing in between them saying friends friend’s friends that was truly my favorite moment I really shows who Luna is and in the books J.K. Did it really well so ya and I kind of agree with you on the rankings 😊

Prisoner of Azkaban was the only movie I rewatched time and time again as a child. I mostly attributed that to Buckbeak and the time-turner, but now that you’ve explained it more in depth, it was probably just because it was a damn good movie. 😂🤷♀️
Prisoner of Azkaban has always been my favorite. It was the first of the films I saw as a child and years later after seeing all of them it actually is the best not only story wise and entertainment wise but in filmmaking.

I’d just like to mention that when I was an American child discovering the book, I had equally barely an idea of what a “sorcerer” was vs a “philosopher.” Good content I’ve seen you on instagram reels
prisoner of azkaban could be quite confusing for someone who didnt read the book though. ive had multiple people say to me on and offline that it was never covered that harrys dad was an animagus let alone that he would turn into a stag. thats a major flaw in the movie and that knocks it down to B tier for me.

CoS is my fav movie of the lot! The suspense and characters were done well. It was the last movie of the series where my fav of the trio, Ron had some sort of a spine before he became the insecure, cowering boy from series 3 on.
half blood prince will always be my favorite movie and book. This may be because im a big hinny fan, but the story starts getting complicated.

I count deathly hallows as one huge film rather than a pt.1 and pt.2. Its basically a 4hr movie
my rankings (from 1 to 8) (I'm starting to read the first book)
1. Deathly Hallows P1 - I love the way they build up to P2 and the Malfoy Manor battle was done perfectly in my opinion and the opening scenes are phenomenal
2. Deathly Hallows P2 - Great ending, I just wish we got to actually see Fred, Remus and Tonks fall and I wanted to see more of Dad Harry
3. Prisoner of Azkaban - Only because all 3 of my favourite characters have a major role (Sirius,Hagrid,Remus) and I love the story of saving Buckbeak
4. Goblet of Fire - Had it recorded on my grandparents TV so its the one ive seen the most, i love the story of Voldemort manipulating the tournament
5. Philosopher's Stone - Best start to a series imaginable. Just wish we got to see more of the Dursley's like we did in the books and the dialogue between Prof. M and D
6. Half Blood Prince - I like the story of Voldemort's story but I didn't like the fight at the burrow although it was shot beautifully
7. Order of the Phoenix - I love the fight between Dumbledore and Voldemort but Deathly Hallows P1 ruined it for me with Umbridge's return
8. Chamber of Secrets - I like the story however it was too long and boring in some parts. Dosen't mean its bad though

I completely agree with you about the end of Hallows 2. It was probably the only time I was truly disappointed in a change from book to movie. The first movie, I was a little bummed about what they cut out of the book, but by then, Prisoner was out, and seeing them get progressively longer, I knew they'd have to cut out a bunch to make a 90 minute movie for the time. I already knew they'd have to cut more and more, even predicting the movies getting longer. But to a good degree, the books always talked about, however much he hated it and tried to change it, Voldemort was still a human

I actually pretty much agree with everything you've said.
The only thing preventing PoA from being a 10/10 was the firebolt not getting it's glory that it did in the books.
Goblet of Fire felt just too rushed in many places, etc in the book the Dursley scene is one of the best Dursley's moments.
Halfblood Prince as you said, it was really ruined with the lack of Voldemort's back story. We're not supposed to like him but the book made us feel sorry for younger him.
Order of the Phoenix, I hate it for killing off my favorite character... But the department of mysteries scene?! Is that all they had?? And Neville with his parents?! We needed more Neville justice on the movies.

The Department of Mysteries scene was way too long and drawn out in the book. All of the locations were unnecessary except the prophecy room and the death chamber. Also, Neville had more of an arc in the movie than in the book. He actually stands up to Bellatrix in the movie, whereas in the book he is easily in the book
POA is the popular choice but it always seems to be style over script. Yes it’s the best looking and directed movie, but as others have said, they left out a lot. And it isn’t a long movie and the book is not as big as the next 4
And putting in Deathly Hollow's part 2 in A is also criminal. I will have to put that in S
Ok I knew that the first book was a little bit longer in America but when you said goblet of fire was 636 pages I was like what the America version is 737 pages or smt like that and then I was watching a different vid and they said that order of the Phoenix was 700 smt pages and then the American version is 870 pages like why are the American versions longer?

None are bad in my opinion. Some are just better than others.
I look at the books and movies as separate continuities, which I used to not do. There was a time when Azkaban movie was my least favorite movie because it was differently structured from the book and it stylistically went in a different direction than the first two movies. I also used to be pissed that peeves wasn’t in the movies lol.
But around movie 5 I kindof got over it and started to view them separate and then I began to appreciate what all the movies did. I really like all of them (I even like some of the fantastic beasts films).
Again I like all 8 films, but it’s funny because I kindof lump each 8 films into 4 tiers of my enjoyment, and to me it’s no coincidence that they’re all next to each other.
My favorite:
1. Goblet of Fire
2. Prisoner of Azkaban
Movies 3 and 4 feel very similar to me, in that the main trio are growing up and they have different priorities now. I really related to these movies at the time because it seemed like all the trio really wanted to do was just hang out, and this is around the age when most people start to feel a little independent and kindof want to do their own thing and I guess I was at the right age when these came out because I was feeling the same thing. I feel like these 2 movies capture that feeing the most in my opinion.
My second favorites:
3.Sorcerers Stone (or Philosophers Stone lol)
4.Chamber of Secrets
Movies 1 and 2 also feel similar to each other more than the other films also; they’re the most whimsical and “magical” for lack of a better word lol. These two movies are all about being introduced to the world and we the audience is just as wide eyed as Harry is, everything is so new to us. The stakes in these movies are also much lower than the later movies (they still have highish stakes but compared to movies 5-8 they’re smaller). I like the feel that these movies are just about trying to get through a school year, they’re cozy feeling and weirdly nostalgic in how they replicate what it feels like to go through a whole year of school. It’s also not a coincidence that Chris Columbus had a very certain style for these movies that set these 2 movies apart from the later series.
My third favorites:
5. Deathly Hallows part 1
6. Deathly Hallows part 2
Movies 7 and 8 are most definitely most most connected two films obviously because they’re two halves of a larger story. I actually part 1 mainly because I like how it covers a larger portion of time (these movies mostly covering a whole year is an aspect I live about these movies, part 1 is like 10 months and part 2 is like 3 days). I like the slower pace of part 1 and the stakes have never been higher. They’re serious, people are dying, things are extremely grim for the good guys. I also liked how part 1 is the only movie that spend most of the year not in school and is actually they in the real world now using the skills they have learned over the years to use. It’s a survival movie. Hunting the horcruxes is one of my favorite story arcs in the whole franchise. Of course I love part 2 also, my favorite scene being the whole bank heist at the beginning. It’s best to watch these 2 movies in one sitting in my opinion lol.

8. Order of the Phoenix
Again I love movies 5 and 6, but these two movies are my least favorite ones to watch. They’re kindof a little too bleak visually and story wise. Deathly hallows was bleak also, but it had more visual color in my opinion. Pretty much every scene in 5 and 6 is overcast, the “fun” feeling of the trio just wanting to hang out from movies 3 and 4 isn’t there anymore, everybody is just kindof depressed in these two movies as they’re mostly focused on fighting Voldemort and his followers. Which again is good stuff story wise, but when rewatching the movies these are the two i enjoy the least. But I still do like these movies and have moments I like from them. Dumbledore vs Voldemort is probably the most epic fight of the series and ending of half blood Prince is some really good stuff.

This is coming from someone who has never read the books and just watched all the movies for the first time
Don’t disagree with anything but I wouldn’t put prisoner above the rest though everything you said was true I feel I enjoyed others like order and half blood more I just find myself enjoying them and getting invested in them more feel free to try and change my mind ❤
I see what you mean. The later ones have a bit more to sink your teeth into than PoA
So I do agree with you, when its about Goblet of fire or Prisoner of Azkaban but I think Chambee of Secrets is to underrated and would get an A from me, because it keeps the magic and the atmosphere from the first film.
And I'd put Order of the Phoenix to C because I don't like these short scenes and this much cuts. And Philosopher's Stone would get an A because it's magic and perfect for a film for children.
The Sorcerer's Stone is an S Tier for me. I really can't put it anywhere else in good heart. I also just love all of the movies. The only one I don't really like is the Goblet of Fire.

Made the mistake of watching this after only seeing the first 3 movies. Since the series has been around forever I already knew Dumbledore died… but I had no idea Snape killed him. Great video tho😂

I almost agree with all of your views on the films 😁 especially the complicated feelings about HBP but overall liking it, and GoF just being a disappointment compared to the book. PoA really is my favorite by far, too!

Americans don’t know what philosophers are in this context. It’s not condescending. Changing the name was the correct choice. Chamber book has the best mystery in the series and best foreshadowing. It’s underrated. I agree about the problems with the movie. I still place it above PoA, GoF, and HPB. I don’t understand why people love POA so much but I also think Cuaron is overrated in general. DH1 is the best movie.
POA is so far clear of the other movies it’s not even close. The long takes, the incredible transitions, the foreshadowing, the symbolisms and the incredible acting especially in the shrieking shack where you get to see 3 iconic British actors go toe to toe as old classmates.
I just loved COS it's my fav also DH 1 prisoner of Azkaban is on 5 on my list

who thought cutting out the backstory of the main villain was a good idea?? we learned ehy he is evil being conceived under a love spell making him unabke to feel love is such a crucial plot point

I agree that changing the title of the first movie is both insulting and just plain stupid, but the... thing said here is strange. Philosopher's Stone refers to basically the mythical end goal of alchemy. It's both a literal and metaphorical substance that is supposed to give alchemists the ability to transmute anything to anything else. That is why it's so stupid that they changed the name to sorcerer's stone which has no real meaning where Philosopher's Stone is something that would actually be applicable to a world of wizards and potions. But it has nothing to do with Americans or anyone for that matter not knowing what a philosopher is

Can´t agree with all choices here. Order of the phoenix was my favourite book and the only of the movies were I was so disappointed in the adaption, I actually left the theatre and ate something at McDonalds next door, waiting for my friends to finish this crap.

Love the video! Let me ask this about the Prisoner of Azkaban film… if you have only seen the movies, why does Harry see a Stag Patronus at the lake?

The fact that it is damn near an empirical impossibility for a movie-only fan to answer this question is such an unforgivable omission! It forever robs movie-only watchers of one of the book’s most potent emotional payoffs. Really tarnishes film 3 for me. That the later movies also never explain the Stag still boggles my mind to this day.
Order of the pheonix movie throws the whole series off and doesn’t understand the source material. Great changes were made but stylistically it stunts the progression of the series and the writing lacks so much of the themes and emotions this story is meant to provide. The whole time this movie just wanted to get itself over and done with while taking no regard for what it actually needed in order for the story to flourish. The direction of the actors sucked that they end up just becoming PlayStation 2 npc’s. As we are meant to be going into more darker territory with the series this movie ends up being too afraid to embody the darkness and just results in being too much of a kiddy Disney version of Harry Potter. Don’t even get me started on how awfully this movie was lit!!!!!
Although the movie has great moments and re writes that were necessary it is easily the worst out of the entire movie series and ruins so much for the next three films to pay off. This obviously due to the new writer not really understanding the world and characters like Steven Kloves does
I have Halfblood Prince much lower. Harry and Ginny have no chemistry. Their whole relationship is awkward which ruins the romance aspect of the movie. Too many Voldemort memories are Missing.
The Half Blood Prince sub Plot is almost missing. A completley pointless attack of the Burrow by the Death Eaters. Sorry but for me its a D, same as Goblet of Fire.
I would put Deathly Hallow Part 2 one tier down. The book ending is epic. The movie did change too many things and not for the better.
There is no explanation on why Harry survived in the Forest which is a huge blunder.
Dumbledores backstory with Ariana is only touched briefly.
The Final Battle between Harry and Voldemort is much better in the books.
The explanation in the movie is that the Elder Wand could not kill its master
@@jxgalaxy3810 I watched the scene again. Sorry but no. No explanation given. Harry does not even ask why he is allowed to go back to the world of the living. He just accepts it like its the most common thing in the world.
In the book Harry is confused. He asks Dumbledore how he was still alive. One of the biggest reveals in the book series:
Voldemort took Harry's blood to rebuilt his own body. By doing so he took some of Lily's protection inside him. As long as Voldemort lives he cannot die at the hand of Voldemort himself.
It even gives major payback to the "Gleam of triumph in Dumbledore's eyes" at the end of Goblet of Fire.
The Elderwand in the forest scene does not really matter because Harry does not defend himself. In order to destroy a Horcrux you have to kill the container. So there is no way around it: Harry was really dead otherwise the Horcrux would still be intact.

The half blood Prince is the worst film in the series by far. It’s an extremely dark book that they turned into a romantic comedy, and they left out so much of the important stuff. The teen romance drama was very overplayed and Harry and Ginny’s relationship was done horribly. They tried to make Ron being poisoned a funny scene which is ridiculous. The burrow being destroyed too, another ridiculous moment.
Just a terrible film.
Goblet of fire you’ve ranked fairly. Definitely the second worst in the series for me.
Deathly Hallows part 2 is the third worst, particularly with the whole Harry-Hermione romance scenes which were never in the book, and the things they made Ron say which weren’t in the book either.
Your justifications for hating Chamber of Secrets aren’t valid. Yeah I sorta get the whole du ex machina thing but it’s still a really solid story otherwise, and the film is mostly faithful, it’s defo no where near the worst film in the series.

I really hated Prisoner of Azkaban and I skip it through most of my marathons. Literally it's such a pointless film. And I think cinematography objectively is good but it's not my taste. Like outside of Order of the Phoenix, it's pretty boring atmospherically to me.
as much as i love the books i really dont think apart from the first 3 films that they are good at all i wouldnt say they are classics but just popular films.
