This song was released on Susanna Hoffs self titled solo album in 1996! It's one of my favourite songs by Sue because it's so personal and so beautiful! Based on the lyrics I think Sue is singing about her ex boyfriend Donovan Leitch Jr! Anyways I hope you enjoy this song! ❤️

Susanna has written a number of songs that deal with the pain of a broken relationship. "Set You Free" and "I'll Never Be Through With You", with the Bangles, "Raining" and "Those Days Are Over" as solo songs. In fact "Raining", even though she recorded it in 2012, she said that she had wrote it back in 1989 or so.
It seems that she went through some serious heartbreak around that time to write these songs.
In "Set You Free" there's a clear mention of that situation where your mind says, "move on", but your heart just doesn't want to let go.
It saddens me to know that one of my favorite artists went through that. But it's refreshing to know she found her happiness and has a wonderful family for all these years.
