Aimee, this is not a dumb song. You have no idea how many women have listened to this song and found the courage to finally get themselves out of abusive relationships.
Right? I wasn’t around in the 80’s (both in 96) but I’m a fan and have watched the videos. She looks and sounds stunning. I can’t say it any better than you did, “the years have been kind to her.”
The unforgettable Aimee Mann. Of Boston! And the most "still so beautiful" of all women rockers from the 80's! The voice, and face of an absolute angel! Love her to pieces!
Aimee as well as the song never grows old. Voices Carry still finds its way today with the relevant rhythm and beat and you'd never guess that the song is more than 30 years old. It's clled classic
Ok I think the jury is in about her ageless beauty and voice. I'm glad so many of you have enjoyed this video. She is incredibly talented. I'm still in awe every time I see her in concert.
I have to honestly say I AM amazed...I was born in 1983...and she was already a young woman making hits THEN! Yet I have to say that she's still incredibly pretty...and that voice has not changed a BIT...😮👍
@Lipp Louie : SHIT, I live in Vancouver and I had no idea Till Tuesday was still playing.... Will look them up for SURE!!! Glad I came across this video
Respectfully to Aimee Man I never thought “Voice ‘s Carry” was a dumb song. For me it was a song about oppression which empowered me as a young woman at that time in my life. I loved the music and I loved your vocals then and I really loved the acoustic version of this song as well. So thank you for this song and may the good spirits always be with you!♥️✌️
I think she only said "parts of it", but I don't know what part she didn't like in retrospect. I think she strives for perfection because she cares about her art. At least she's honest with her audiences, which I admire.
That's the beauty of art; it travels beyond the creator to have meaning for those who experience it. Mann no doubt hears all the flaws, and maybe only the flaws, but many others hear the rest.
Just saw Aimee perform last night. Was not expecting her to play this song but she ended encore with it. Felt genuine chills and tingles while she sang this. Aimee remains an amazing talent and song writer. Glad to have finally seen her perform.
I was a kid in the 80's, and first heard Aimee on Rush's "Time Stand Still". Then I discovered Til Tuesday. It's awesome to hear this wiser version now.
She's amazing and this song she should be extremely proud of because if you grew up in the 80s everyone felt like this song was special along with Aimee and her band. Great performance.
I dunno why she gets kinda almost embarrassed at this work... this was so damn pivotal in my life as a kid and an adult... I love her voice and heart ,.. always, she's amazing to me... 💙
I was 15 when this song came out and crushed on her. I couldn't wait until the video came on. This is the first time I've seen her since the late 80s. It's like she hasn't aged. Amazing.
Hard to believe how naturally she can raise this song out of what it originally was, transcending the weight and over-saturation that sapped the life out of it on MTV. Thank you for risking it, and for making so much good use of the springboard that it was for you, Aimee Mann.
Wow. She looks and sounds fantastic. I love the added complexity of her voice now, compared to 1985. This was the song that got me started listening to Aimee Mann.
Sad to hear she thought the lyrics were silly and didn’t sing it for a long time. It’s a wonderful song. The video of her/‘Til Tuesday playing at the Ritz in the 80s is one of my favorite music vids on UA-cam. (Bummed she didn’t sing the last part here, but still a nice listen.)
For those of us that heard the original recording, but had no access to the video, this medium has been so outstanding words fail to convey they importance. My house burned in a wildfire this year (we lost literally everything) and I am blessed to have the love of my life through 3 decades with me through the process of rebuilding. This song reminds me of how extraordinarily blessed I am. Thank you.
Rick Rodriguez I've only heard it at the grocery store once. It was 2 days after I recorded this. I ran into her at a cafe the morning after her Bethlehem, NH show (the following evening). I stopped at the grocery store on the way home and and just froze in disbelief when it came on. Wild that I saw her 3 days in a row in NH and hours later in VT I hear the original recording being played. Sometimes the universe just lines up in surprising ways.
I saw her in 1989 at Rhode Island College. The cafeteria which doubled as a stage, so it was a small venue. This song and her voice were made for a more acoustic setting, not a huge concert hall. Another underappreciated talent.
Wow glad I found this. I was a big fan in the 80s and saw her perform many times around Boston. She would recognize me and say hi. Still beautiful and amazing voice!
wow thank you for this!!!!! I remember her from when she was at Berklee and working at Newbury Comics on Newbury St. Unforgettably beautiful, magnificently talented, and not a shred of ego.
I was in an abusive relationship when this song came out.i thought I was going crazy but these lyrics described my situation perfectly. It helped me see more clearly thank god!.
She seems like a great person with an excellent sense of humor. She makes appearances in "Portlandia" and it's great. I just watched the clip of her performing this song many years ago..when we were all young...stunningly beautiful. And is now as well with that crystal clear voice.
Thank you for creating such an empowering 80's song Aimee Mann, you helped many of your fans recognise & flee abusive relationships, for this we are most grateful!
I don't know how she could have ever thought this song was anything but brilliant. It was, and continues to be, relevant and beautiful, just like Aimee...
She was great in Til Tuesday and their three albums pure class Brilliant song and Aimee is still recording wonderfully thoughtful and interesting music Nice to hear her doing an early classic
Let's not get carried away....this isn't Janis Joplin or Joni Mitchell but no matter. She's still doing it and true to herself. If an audience still wants to see her.......you know she's doing something right. Bands like "til Tuesday" were a dime the dozen in the 1980s and I hardly noticed her or the band at the time. Something about how she's escaped the big hair and 80s sound is very appealing. She's done what most of her peers in the 1980s couldn't and didn't. I'm a fan of her talent and drive to play for sure.
Great that Aimee has rediscovered her old song. I'm one of those who never stopped loving it. Really enjoyed this different take on it, thanks for posting.
Aimee, this is not a dumb song. You have no idea how many women have listened to this song and found the courage to finally get themselves out of abusive relationships.
She didn't say it is a dumb song. I think she knows how important this song is to many.
She is what defines that term “age well like fine wine”
No doubt.
She looks better than most women in their twenties.
She definitely has taken care of herself.
Robert J I've known her for years she has never been better
@@johnyoder3304 "taken care? what is this you mean?
"Taken care" of oneself generally means to live a healthy lifestyle...
100%!
How does someone turn 60 and look more beautiful than when they were in there 20s
I’ve listened to this song for decades and can honestly say it’s only gotten better
Her voice is as amazing now as it was in 1985. She is incredible.
This lady has really impressive pitch. Equally impressive is she can still sing this song in its original key in her mid-50s.
My goodness have the years been kind to her. In both her voice holding up and not looking as one may think she would after 32 years.
it's called avoiding cigs, drugs, excessive drinking which unfortunately applies to just a handful
orgonko, stress ages you too.
I think she's improved with age. This was a delightful surprise 😊
Right? I wasn’t around in the 80’s (both in 96) but I’m a fan and have watched the videos. She looks and sounds stunning. I can’t say it any better than you did, “the years have been kind to her.”
She is stunningly lovely.
I concur. Definitely more beautiful and sounds even better. Time has been very kind.
This song... those 80s...It's worth being old now to have been young then...
OMG..this song still resonates... I am 54 and I remember when I saw this on MTV...I LOVED Til Tuesday....and now Aimee Mann (same-ish)!
She still has it. Beautiful voice. It’s an awesome song I’m 46 and still crank the volume up
My goodness she hasn't lost a THING. Beautiful song. Not sure why she didn't like it for awhile.
The unforgettable Aimee Mann. Of Boston! And the most "still so beautiful" of all women rockers from the 80's! The voice, and face of an absolute angel! Love her to pieces!
Still has THAT Beautiful, Strong Voice...👏👏👏
Aimee what a class act ,she's drop dead gorgeous! She's singing from pain, she lived through it God bless you Aimee, you're my hero!
"He wants me, but only part of the time
He wants me, if he can keep me in line"
Still love her music!!
A little slower but just as Powerful as it was in the 80s. She was blessed with such a beautiful voice. And in 2017 still Beautiful.
Aimee as well as the song never grows old. Voices Carry still finds its way today with the relevant rhythm and beat and you'd never guess that the song is more than 30 years old. It's clled classic
My god, she as aged like million dollar wine. So pretty. I am in love again with my teenage crush.
Ok I think the jury is in about her ageless beauty and voice. I'm glad so many of you have enjoyed this video. She is incredibly talented. I'm still in awe every time I see her in concert.
2lassies This song has aged so well😄
Yes she is and thanks for putting this up. :--)) Kindly, N.
Good on you. People need to learn that music isn't something you see.
She is so great! Always loved this song
I have to honestly say I AM amazed...I was born in 1983...and she was already a young woman making hits THEN! Yet I have to say that she's still incredibly pretty...and that voice has not changed a BIT...😮👍
Wow, she is unbelievably still gorgeous
She is so funny and unassuming. And such an effortless beauty. If you ever get the chance to see her live, GO!
@Lipp Louie : SHIT, I live in Vancouver and I had no idea Till Tuesday was still playing.... Will look them up for SURE!!! Glad I came across this video
Beautiful!!! I fell for her .... STILL....
Since the first time I saw her on Tonight Show...Wow!!!
4 times. So far.
I am 15 and have grown up listening to Aimee Mann and Till Tuesday. I saw her for the first time a few weeks ago and she was so incredible!
Respectfully to Aimee Man I never thought “Voice ‘s Carry” was a dumb song. For me it was a song about oppression which empowered me as a young woman at that time in my life. I loved the music and I loved your vocals then and I really loved the acoustic version of this song as well. So thank you for this song and may the good spirits always be with you!♥️✌️
When we found out about UA-cam “Voice’s Carry” was one of the first songs I looked up from the 80’s♥️✌️
I think she only said "parts of it", but I don't know what part she didn't like in retrospect. I think she strives for perfection because she cares about her art. At least she's honest with her audiences, which I admire.
To PROYECTO RV, I promise my words are my truth and it comes from my heart and sincere thoughts. No b.s.! Thank you, take care.♥️✌️
Barbara McCroy I agree having been married to a narcissist it speaks to me in volumes. She was then and still is a woman I wanted to emulate.
Aimee Mann is incredibly talented as both a singer and song writer.
I was a kid in the 80's, and first heard Aimee on Rush's "Time Stand Still". Then I discovered Til Tuesday. It's awesome to hear this wiser version now.
Dear god, what an incredible voice.
I've been mad about this beautiful talented woman since I first became aware of her on MTv decades ago....still beautiful.
Never ever a dumb song, an important song. I was 11 when this song came out, still listening/loving today💗
Me and Cliff drove 4 hours through a snow storm to hear Til Tuesday sing this at the Ritz in 86. Loved it then. Love it now.
I loved her in the 80s when I was a kid and I love her today… No one like Aimee and her minty cool voice!
Wow, that was a great performance. Her voice definitely still carries!
Thirty years on neither she nor the song has aged. So cool.
I can't believe she's 56 here. Still so beautiful with such an amazing body of work. Keep rockin', Aimee!
WOW.
One of my favourite songs of my teenage years of the 80 s she is still so beautiful ageless and still has a great voice.
I was 15 when this song came out and crushed on her. I couldn't wait until the video came on. This is the first time I've seen her since the late 80s. It's like she hasn't aged. Amazing.
It's certainly an iconic video. MTV and VH1 got a lot of mileage out of it.
I love this women. I saw her in concert in 1985. Her voice is a lullaby to me.
I was lucky enough to have seen til Tuesday open for Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, outdoors, back in the day... Still beautiful, still a great voice
Neil Stiener that is so cool
Same...except opened for Rick Springfield. Man, I really miss how *special* music and talent were back then.
I saw TT open for TP at Worcester Centrum on his Southern Accents Tour... awesome
Wish I'd been there. My 2 favourite artists.
I saw tp too !
Hard to believe how naturally she can raise this song out of what it originally was, transcending the weight and over-saturation that sapped the life out of it on MTV. Thank you for risking it, and for making so much good use of the springboard that it was for you, Aimee Mann.
Time stand still...
...are you aware that she sang backup of Rush's song 'Time Stand Still'?
Seems pretty evident by the original post...
Yeah that's so fitting!
A lesser talent could not have come close to singing for/with Geddy - love that song because of her (ok not ONLY because of that cuz I love Geddy too)
You beat me to it.
Wow she's really maintained her youthful looks and voice, I am flabbergasted.
Flabbergasted makes you old. Yeppers!
Still hot after all these years
I met her back in 1985 in Beaverton Oregon at a Tower records store with the rest of til Tuesday. She looks fantastic today!!!!
Amazing 30+ years ago and this 2017 version is also incredible!!! So many great memories! Thank you Aimee!!
I think her voice is even more beautiful now. So pure, I can't stop listening. Thank you Aimee.
Aimee Mann 2019 WE ARE STILL LISTENING...LOVE U ALWAYS.MCGEE
2020 💜
Wow. She looks and sounds fantastic. I love the added complexity of her voice now, compared to 1985. This was the song that got me started listening to Aimee Mann.
Magnificence is she.. not controlled by the wicked labels
Talk about a well-preserved voice...gahhh
Sad to hear she thought the lyrics were silly and didn’t sing it for a long time. It’s a wonderful song. The video of her/‘Til Tuesday playing at the Ritz in the 80s is one of my favorite music vids on UA-cam. (Bummed she didn’t sing the last part here, but still a nice listen.)
Spot on. The Ritz vid is awesome.
I was at that Ritz show!
@@scarrie729 Ditto, drove into the City from Lavallette N.J. Sick show Ritz, great place to see a show!
Actually, the original lyrics were about a girl/lesbian relationship
JJ Thomas but the original lyrics clearly refer to the antagonist as a male?
she doesn't age.
I can still see those beautiful eyes behind those glasses...love her!
Damn she's cute.
She's like fine wine....better with age :)
Oh, she's aged. But really well. If anything, I like her better this way. Horn rims and all.
Her voice hasn't aged, either.
She is awesome!
She doesn’t look nearly old enough to have recorded this song all the way back in’84/‘85!
At this rate she’s going to live forever.
Time Stand Still. This is such a great song.
she is just breathtaking. thanks for uploading these!
Sweet Lord, this song sounds even more beautiful than when I first heard it thirty-three years ago.
Love this version! It really captures the greatness and timelessness of the song. This song could be released now and still be amazing!
Witnessed her Christmas show live. So understated, witty, & clever. A very gifted songwriter. Blessings.
her voice has not aged and that’s amazing!!!!!
Her gifts are countless. An amazing and mysterious voice, a fantastic writer and she inhabits the trials of being human with astounding lightness.
For those of us that heard the original recording, but had no access to the video, this medium has been so outstanding words fail to convey they importance. I hear this song at the grocery store a lot. Never get tired of it.

@@2lassies a gift from the universe. Thanks for sharing.
She was 56 during the filming of this show. Absoultely beautiful woman! The years have been very kind to her.
I fell in Love with Aimee 30 years ago. Never fell out.
I saw her in 1989 at Rhode Island College. The cafeteria which doubled as a stage, so it was a small venue. This song and her voice were made for a more acoustic setting, not a huge concert hall. Another underappreciated talent.
Dayum.... she was 57 when this was recorded. She easily looks like she's in her 30's
I've loved this song since its inception.
❤👍
such a beautiful voice, the way she presents herself is all class. she seems like a very down to earth person and pure natural beauty too
Virginia is proud of her! Loved her on MTV.
Last time I saw Aimee Mann was on vh1’s Where Are They Now? After 36 years, her voice and age have held up well.
Hauntingly beautiful!
Saw her at the Brooklyn festival exactly a year later. She was the highlight of a fabulous year...
‘TT follow up album, Welcome Home, was so terribly underrated. It was beautiful. Coming Up Close is elegiac.
Coming Up Close. One of my absolute must haves.
Solid album. Used to play it on Sunday afternoons. Hope I can still find it.
I was born in 1962 and I like that song. It was great when it came out and still is. Thank you
Thank you to whomever uploaded this. Her voice still sounds as amazing as ever here.
Aimee Mann looks amazing!
wow , aimee looks fantastic , she hasnt changed in 30 years , and her voice is golden .
The original video still gives me chills. The final scene in "Carnegie" is wonderful and powerful. A woman standing up for herself, literally.
God she is beautiful
wow, she's as beautiful now as she was then
A wonderful artist. Exudes class in everything she does. Head and shoulders above a lot of more "famous" acts. Including her one time sister in law.
She is an underrated song writer
She seems like a great person with an excellent sense of humor. She makes appearances in "Portlandia" and it's great. I just watched the clip of her performing this song many years ago..when we were all young...stunningly beautiful. And is now as well with that crystal clear voice.
Remember seeing her on MTV for the first time. She’s still very pretty and her voice is timeless
Thank you for creating such an empowering 80's song Aimee Mann, you helped many of your fans recognise & flee abusive relationships, for this we are most grateful!
The way she effortlessly entertains and engages the crowd is pure class. And her comic timing was spot on!
Still beautiful in every way. And my heart still breaks over your lyrics. Bless you.
I don't know how she could have ever thought this song was anything but brilliant. It was, and continues to be, relevant and beautiful, just like Aimee...
She was great in Til Tuesday and their three albums pure class
Brilliant song and Aimee is still recording wonderfully thoughtful and interesting music
Nice to hear her doing an early classic
I cant imagine performing the same song over and over for 30 years, especially this one
Gosh I miss til Tuesday
Just love this, that magical vibe this song has for me in the 80’s now transcended through time with this performance. Wonderful.
Does she even age??? After all these years, her voice and appearance are AMAZING.
been following this girl for many yrs. she just gets better and better. what a talent.
she may have recorded this first in the 80s, but the sound and her voice belong to the 60s and all the great ladies of that time, she is awesome.

Didn't no what to expect when I clicked on this. Always loved this song and she did it beautifully. Wow, still has a great voice.
I think i was 13 when this song came out. Oh the memories!!❤❤
Me too 8th grade
Great that Aimee has rediscovered her old song. I'm one of those who never stopped loving it. Really enjoyed this different take on it, thanks for posting.
