- We decided to do a short three-day trip to ride three different Wisconsin Rails to Trails. Our first stop was in Menomonie Wisconsin to ride the Red Cedar State Trail. We had ridden this trail some years ago and were struck by its remoteness and beauty. Our original intent was to do a three-day tour, but my initial scouting had the Chippewa River Trail being in very poor condition and most people did not recommend riding it fully loaded with gear. It turned out that the Chippewa River Trail was not that bad (video to come) and we could have easily done a tour. It was definitely a picture-perfect day for a bicycle ride on a beautiful trail.

Excellent video. If you ever get down to St Louis area, check out the Sam Vadalabene bike trail known as the Great river road trail from town of Alton to Grafton IL. It runs along the Mississippi River. Also The MCT trails network are close by. My wife and I could ride with all or just show you the trails. Could be up to 3 to 4 days of riding.

It does seem a bit ridiculous to pay. I might not mind if Wisconsin would take care of their bicycle trails but the little money they get from trail fees will not fund maintenance of the trails. Having ridden in the Netherlands this fall it seems we have a very long way to go in funding and building good bicycle infrastructure. Thanks for watching!
