I have used this method many times and it works great. When I sew rows or blocks with batting together, I always use a half inch seam allowance instead of the usual quarter inch. I find the seams easier to press open and they lie flatter. I pick designs that using the half inch won't matter. Beautiful quilt!
One year later: l used your technique in pinks and greens. It was a painless process and came out beautifully! What a joy! You are and superlative teacher. Many thanks.
I've often wondered if this would work, but wasn't brave enough to try it. The thought of wasting time and fabric on a failed experiment put me off. You've proved it works very well. 👌 Thanks for sharing 👏👏 🥰
Thanks for such a great video. I LOVE that you quilt in your RV! I lived in an RV for over a year and actually put all my supplies in storage. And it made for a more stressful life as I use quilting as a means to relax. Subscribed and will be following you! Have a blessed day!
We lived in our RV 24/7 for 14 years and traveled the continental United States and Canada. Along the way I filled every single storage space available with fabric…including the space usually occupied by a generator (we had solar power). Talk about a shopping trip!
I'm a beginner but I am going to try to make this, at least the top; not sure I understand the quilt as you go part but will continue to review; beautiful work!
Thank you for demonstrating this quilting method. I really love your fabric choices. The fabric patterns are different from what I have in the United States. I have a quilt top I made several years ago, that still needs to be quilted. But I cut the squares again for another fabric strip down the middle. Take care, Marion in Oregon, U.S.A.
I so much enjoy your quilting process and all the wonderful tips you give in your videos. thank you so much for sharing. I am setting up my sewing room and then I will get the nerve to try this technique LOL. I want to learn the quilting process, still nervous to try but I'm going to take the first step and try it.
I like QAYG because I have limited room here at home - so I really appreciate you taking the time to make quilting videos in your caravan! It must be very tricky.
I love this quilt and will definitely be trying this qayg method. Karen, the more that I watch your channel, the more that I love it. Welcome to Australia, and I hope that you are loving it here.
Beautiful fabrics, love the pattern. Simple and easy to adjust the size and looks so nice. It would also be good for those prints you might want to feature. Thank you for a great tutorial!
Love the quilt. On my to do list. I am a reasonably new quilter but I was just wondering about you comment about what side the batting should face to the top. I have researched it a bit and I am to believe that if you do not face it the right way up it may pill and fluffy bits may come through the quilt top. Not sure if it is correct but would like to hear your take on this. Thanks Desley
That’s cheap batting or blunt needles that will cause this reaction if the needles is blurting it rips that batting as it’s not a smooth piercing through as it’s quilts the same for cheap batting as it will it be constructed with long lasting quality fibres
Hi all, I am a newbie at quilting. I am by no means a seamstress. I like dappling in things. I recently started attending a quilting group of church ladies. The quilts they have complemented blew my mind. Now I am ready to try quilting. I love the idea of “row quilting “. I see that you did the “quilting-embossing“ before joining the rows. This was done on my small sewing machine so it's doable, see the machine here ua-cam.com/video/l0aYe3w1BWo/v-deo.html if you are planning to make a king size quilt then yes it will be difficult with patience, but the size I made it was just perfect 60-inch square approx. this is why i thought about the row-by-row method so I can still make my quilts to completion. remember you do not have to do free motion quilting you can just sew grid lines or straight lines back and forth, so you have options. I suggest try it and you will see how easy it is and very quick.

I suppose that the density of quilting may affect the length of each block when it’s time to join. I must say your quilting is lovely!
