Chow Yun Fat - A Better Tomorrow 2: EAT THE RICE!!!

- One of my favorite scenes by Chow Yun Fat. 2 gangsters enter Chow's restaurant to intimidate him for protection fee. The result.....
Also in the scene with the kids in sunglasses and trench coats, that's a reference to Chow's old character from the first movie. Many youths in Hong Kong took after him in the first film and some had a shooting accident, so Chow helped add this little reference to the scene.
“For you, rice nothing. But for us, rice just like my father and mother. DON’T F*CK WITH MY FAMILY.” Those have to be the best lines of all time.
This whole scene is hysterically funny, no question. I have to confess that my favorite bit is when the cop walks in, sees the situation, and has that look on his face like, "Oh God, who is it THIS week?" 😅😅
"APOLOGIZE TO THE RICE RIGHT NOW" LOL
🤣
Chow Yun Fat is a fucking legend!!!! Too bad Americans fail to recognize his greatness!
its not that they didn't recognize it, they just knew how offensive it would be to their audience at the time so they couldn't promote this
Wow,I can't believe this clip on YT over 13 years old. I saw the movie in the 90's and definitely need to watch it again. It's not just rice, it's family!
This is how I remembered Chow in the movies. When I heard he was making an american film I was excited but I was disappointed instead. Hollywood hasn't utilized him to the fullest.
lol his sarcasm kills me. 'no! dont shoot him, no, its illegal' and he snatches the gun and shoots the guy on the leg. lol
I love when the cop says, "Eat it asshole, he means it!" lol
Having heard about interviews with Chow Yun Fat where he kind of stays quiet about his movie work, but gets very excited when there's questions about food and cooking... I do imagine that part of this scene was inspired by his own love of food
"This fucken fried rice!!!" lol that white guys accent made me laugh so hard.
its borderline offensive, if you were allowed to be offensive about american accents, but we arent, so im not
@@aaronbreeds5132 The line is solid "so bad it's good" territory.
@@marasmusine The cheezy line makes it better xD
@@aaronbreeds5132 Hey he was just commenting how funny it was, not hurting anybody. I had a pretty good laugh as well xD
@@aaronbreeds5132 imagine being salty about a 14 year old comment.
Absolutely. Definetly the coolest guy that ever walked Earth. He can do physical scenes, drama, comedy...
I saw The Corruptor the other day. Chow cracked me up^^.
"Learned some English? Good!"
"Peaches are shit! Haven't you heard that Sinatra song? 'Of the tree of life, I picked myself a plum'. Not a peach, A PLUM."
If you have any dignity, you will APOLOGIZE TO THE RICE RIGHT NOW!!!!
hahahaa one of my favorite lines ever!
1:15... "This FUCKING FRIED RICE STINKS!!" *WHIPS IT ACROSS THE ROOM* .. LMFAO!
It is Chow Yun-fat's voice and all the other main actors do their own voice dubbing to my knowledge which includes the late Leslie Cheung. John Woo directed Face off and MI:2 in America, but they don't compare to his trademark works in Hong Kong like The Killer and Hard Boiled. Shot with a small percentage of his Hollywood film budgets but with much more style, action and imagination. The Hong Kong films that Woo made are the ones that will define him as a film-maker.
"If you have any dignity, APOLOGIZE TO THE RICE RIGHT NOW!!!"
"I feel sorry with my rice."
I want that on a shirt.
"APOLOGIZE TO THE RICE RIGHT NOW!" Hahaha
"Better eat the rice, he means it."
This is the first comment about Logic's Beat. Ye.
RATTPACK
YESSSS LOL
Well, now I know that I'm at the right video lol. I've been trying to find this for a while. Let's GO RATTPACK!!!!
Rattpack 🔥
What u talkin about ?
funniest english dubbing EVER! XD
that's the best english chow yun fat line i ever heard. that's his own voice though. he speaks english fluently
@@papaonta To you, Rice is nothing. But to us? Rice just like my father and mother. DON'T FUCK WITH MY FAMILY
Chow Yun Fat...oh my god...what an actor/performer - priceless - 'nuff said....
"THIS F**KING FRIED RICE STINKS!!!"
Funniest dubbing is have seen for a long time..lol!!
"You talking to me?"
"Yea"
"Wait a minute"
lmao
The most boss line ever "Wait a minute"
hahahah i still love this scene "he said eat it asshole, he means it." hahahaha classic
this was one of my favortie parts of the movie
I love rice, and I hate people who waste rice. It is disrespectful to farmers and people who suffer from hunger and poverty
Classic scene from a Better Tomorrow 2 Yeah 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
one of my favourite scenes ever! xD
APOLOGISE TO TEH RIIIIIIICCEE!!! - should be a meme imo.
Had this on VHS as a kid in the UK, then bought a Spanish Bluray edition. Selected Cantonese with Spanish subtitles and my heart sank to find out that the dub on this bluray ALSO dubbed the gangsters into Cantonese as well! I had no idea that they'd done that on some versions. It's not "as beautiful for me", but oh well.
No version beats the original U.K. dubbing from the 90’s man. I recorded it off of sky movies in 1995 haha they showed a John Woo special, every night for 4 or 5 days.
@@strand195 I remember that. Sky movies is where I saw Bullet in the head for the first time.
@@djhabibi04 oh crap I just checked!!! I’ve always heard the name “Bullet in the head” I just assumed it was the film with the Lounge singer that went blind... but that was “The Killer”!
Which means I have not seen this, looks good too. Just saw 2 minutes of the ‘Camp’ scene where they think they’ve captured American CIA and kill the guys wanting to go back to Hong Kong...
No better time to watch it we’re locked down
"Eat it!" "NEVER!"
That's definetly Chow that does his own dubbing, yeah. His voice is very distinct, and you can tell it's him if you listen to the parts where he flips out. "APOLOGIZE TO THE RICE, RIGHT NOW!" for example. I love Chows voice=D
And, well, I don't know which white guy you're talking about, but I think the black guy at the end is the only cop in this scene.
HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHHA omg the english was hilarious! "THIS FUCKING FRIED RICE STINKS!" lols the way he said it cracked me up omg I cant stop laughin!
THANK you for putting this clip up. It made my day completely!!!
I know! XD
"Dis fockin' fried rice stinks!" he sounds like a cartoon character XD XD
i really like it when the detector said "Eat it, axxhole, he means it"
brings back memories..... :) i know this scene by heart .
notice how chow's face was full of rice, but the next scene his face is suddenly clean.
This must be the funniest thing I've ever seen on youtube.
My idol !👍👍👍
"This pepper beef is too damn spicy"
lol
“Eat it asshole!” (in Cantonese)
“Better eat it asshole. He means it.”
When I have my restaurant, this is exactly how I will treat my protection!
I remember after seeing this with my friend we went to a Chinese restraunt and I had an airsoft Beretta 92FS and we created a scene on purpose when he shouted:"This fucking fried rice stinks!" So I went to his table we re-enacted the whole scene but without the Police officer. It was so funny when I pulled out the airsoft gun and everyone in the restaurants faces fell flat, it was hilarious.
You must be one of those two white guys in suit
What a bizarre scene... even for John Woo!
Please dont waste the rice, they are sacred to us, asian.
When Chow Yun Fat asks you to apologize to the rice, you apologize to the fucking rice!
Uncle Roger agrees with Chow Yun Fat.
actually the word in Cantonese in direct translation is "ghost dude". It was more of an ethnic term for Han Chinese(especially Hong Kongers) to call the caucasians in Hong Kong. In the Sinocentric(Han-centric) world, everything "alien" is termed in something "less than human". So Non-Chinese like Japanese, Caucasians, Southeast Asians, Central Asians, and even people who live in south China who were not of Han ethnicity, would be called Animals, barbarians, or "ghost dudes".
this is my all time favorite movie scene from Mr Chow!
One Of The Most LEGENDARY Scene In Hong Kong Films............Chow Yun Fatt Is The Great!!!
I love how the American actors voice is dubbed and Chow's voice isn't dubbed despite the fact he is Chinese lol.
They're all dubbed, that's how they did voices and sounds in Hong Kong movies in the 80s.
I think the American actors (possible British) are dubbed by Chinese English speakers and Fat just winged his own English. His accent was spotty lmao I thought for a second he was getting dubbed and then he kept getting undubbed or something but it was just the way he spoke.
@@daoyang223 I think that's the Caucasian actor's (Louis Roth) real voice, I've seen him in other HK movies and he sounds about the same.
Didn’t know that Doctor Hibbert was a cop at one time..
This just makes me hungry. One of my favorite clips.
Chow Yun Fat Legend.
Im watching this while eating my mixed fried rice :D
Thank You for sharing this! "...Me rice is me family..."
Thats his real voice man...

This is the second comment about Logic’s Beat. Ye.
SEK LAA HAMKACHANNN!! 🤣😂🤣😂
@bobbyhitsbakk009 at any rate, references to ABT2 on Tshirts would make cool people more visible.

Good, I love Chow.....
The next time someone throws his food and says "this fucking fried rice stinks", I'm going to dine and dash too.
Great scene... and one more thing - i love rice!
I dunno someone has a subtitled version of the movie on this site (in parts of course) I think his name is mskridr or something like that. It should be the original version
this scene is hilarious
the first better tomorrow is the best one

I WANT THAT QUARTER!
badassery at it's finest
Chow sounds like Robert DeNiro in Taxi Driver :S

Peter Griffin: Canada sucks
uncle roger and jamie oliver meeting for the first time
utterly bad ass
@R3tribution91
i try to clean them up from time to time, but that also can be hard to keep up too
This clip is hysterical, but I just hope that the underlying cultural subtext isn't lost on the culturally ignorant people like the villain in this clip.
Next time you order Chinese and can't finish the rice, think of chow-yun fat and eat the fuckin rice!!!! :)
pls someone tell me where can i download Chow Yun Fat`s movie send me MP
They don't, do they? I've been looking for good subs for John Woo's movies forever...! Because the subs I seen, they all mess up the narration so it's really hard to get ahold of what's happening.
EAT DA ROICE! EAT IT!
Now that is acting.!!!!!! they don't teach that in acting school. Not 2 many people could do that . 4 starter who could do that seen Tom C. Jack N. Christopher W. just to name a few. EAT THE RICE!!!
