I would like a video about warbelts with no should straps. Alot of guys I know run once piece belts that they use primarily to shift some of the weight of the carrier or IOTV and put it on their hips.
That moment when the rangers had it right in the 90's. I love how we've come full circle pretty much; mission definitely dictates gear and warfare is definitely shifting
Watching this rig setup made me think we're back in 2009 or so. Like, wow, the new cool thing for gun community is just re-descovery of the PLCE/ALICE/M1957 type of gear. All what was considered cons (like enclosed pouches with velcro on, big yoke-style suspension, or getting into strap hell when wearing the belt kit over armor as opposed to having things molled on or in the backpack) are now pros. Interesting, huh? Great video btw
I switched my smersh butt pack for three swedish GP/canteen pouches (sweet missmatch camo right there) a long time ago and both rigs look awefully similar. Now I feel smart!
I've watched at least three videos on this system in the past couple of weeks. Funny how our old, back in the day system is coming back. I've always used this set up. and never changed. Why I go with a slick body armour system. It works with everything. And my Old school LBE/LBS system.
I was recon with the Airborne in Vicenza late 80's early 90's. A properly tricked out LBE was awesome. Comfortable, didn't overheat and it carried all the things you needed not in your ruck. Just makes sense with certain missions.
I was having this problem back in the mid 2000's when I was using and training with gear when it came to the belt systems.(I was new to kit.) My belt kept sliding down along with my pants. Then I meet two Military Vets who told me my belt loadout was too heavy so try the belt loadout with suspenders or lbe harness systems. Its what they used back then when they were both in the Military and it still works out for me to this day. Thanks Dave and Mark. Dave was a Panama Vet. Mark was a Canadian Combat Engineer.
Dude. Dream kit. Always preferred and loved this concept. Recently got a British PLCE kit and love it. This looks like an updated better version. Project Redacted also makes modern LBE with their bush series. They have a large butt pack like alice LBE.
I'd like to also mention that carcajou tactical has belt kit too. So if you can't find a smersh and want belt kit but can't afford this or a jungle rig you can at least piece it together.
Some of the reason you're seeing belt kit in Ukraine is because the Ukrainian recruits are being trained in the UK by British instructors. The Brits' default setting is belt webbing for most Infantry tasks (and for good reason), and so this is how they have been training the recruits.
I ran something similar to a heavy belt kit in 2019-2020 Iraq. I was a Cav Scout assigned as QRF when I deployed. Belt kits are definitely the bees knees.
If you think you are going to need to wear a load bearing belt for multiple hours a day for extended periods of time, please get some form of suspender set up to preserve your lower back and hips from the damage you are doing. Any police officer can vouch for the absolute havoc weight on your hips causes without additional support from the shoulders. I'm well aware BJO is doing that, it's more for those high speed, low drag types who think suspenders are uncool.
We’ve never fallen out of love with full belt kits here in the U.K. “Fight Light” was a great idea, but never really worked when out patrolling for longer periods of time.
Both set ups are useful with in their given context. I would expect hostage rescue teams to be rocking the LBE Belt nor would I expect the line Infantryman in near peer warfare to be using a gun belt with a pistol. Everyone should own, train, and understand the limits of both a be proficient in either one.
You should try JayJays commanders webbing, staple belt kit for us British soldiers, well made comfortable and plenty of room for all the kit you’ll need in the field

Belt kit always seemed the way to go. All the high speed low drag guys on UA-cam suddenly started loading everything on their chest for some reason. Me and the guys I shoot with never really could get into it
Lol, that's literally how me and a lot of my bros ran when we were in 1st LAR. Having all of your mags on a warbelt slimed you down a lot allowing you to get in and out of the vehicle faster.
Would like to see you review the Vel Sys Jungle Belt. I like the LBV expander with the roll top enclosure, too bad no one makes other roll tops and the spiritus one is designed to work with their rig.
Ive been a huge fan and advocate of belt kit since 2017. What I dont understand about it is this emphasis on sustainment. How is there room. On my kit I have what I consider to be essentials. Mags (lots of them) 2 frags, dump pouch, 1L of water, IFAK, bayonet/knife, and admin pouch there's no room for anything else. A small assault pack is where more sustainment and snivel kit comes in imo.
Bro, please tell your camera man to zoom in to the stuff your showing. When you were going over the tabs on the magazines, the freaking pouches were barely in the frame - same for the GP pouches.
If you are looking for a belt kit/webbing always shop British we have always ran them and most companies are run by people who have fought in them and have manufactured their kit accordingly
If you like these sorts of belt kits you should check out some of the stuff we have in the UK, Jay Jay's, Kitpimp and Dragon supplies have single handedly been providing the British Army with quality belt kits for a decade now, since the shit that the MOD hands out is either tattered ruins of the old PLCE webbing or the abomination that Virtus came out with
I'd like to see something like this that could also hold plates. The Tasmanian Tiger mk2 chest rig is also a plate carrier, but not sure of the quality. I like chest rigs and load bearing kit like this, but wearing this alone without plates, all I keep thinking about is "what if I take one to the chest?". Then I'm happy with my carrier again.
I think LBEs are the ideal, been saying this for years. The problem with LBEs is that they go from like, a 25 dollar ALICE harness which works perfectly, even with Molle gear, to a 350-600 dollar pile of horse shit. And I mean no disrespect to this gear, I'm sure it works well, is comfortable, etc. but for real, it's a damn harness. The Crossfire DZ-Rig is a 350 dollar rig. A Velocity System jungle rig is a 600 dollar rig. Are these people high?
The silent tab isn't just for the mag pouches, and it's entirely up to you what you want to shove in the mag pouches anyway, so it isn't necessarily a reload operation. Some people just prefer to have a smoother pull over the extra "secureness" of the velcro, ultimately it doesn't change much, it probably makes the rig like 25 bucks more expensive.
Help out the less educated here, but why this set-up over a PC + small pack? Is it to move some of the load towards the hips as mentioned around the 6:55 mark more than anything else?
What material are the pouches made of? Helikon Tex makes AR/AK pouches that take both mags without a struggle. Why these tight tolerances here? Why no buttpack alternative to the permanently fixed Utility Pouches on back?
Because they modeled it off of the Brit style PLCE, which had 3-4 GP pouches often bungied together to form a shelf for their "Bergen" aka short ruck to ride on. The older PLCE in what they called "assault order" also had these two little cylinder shaped packs which carried more gear, kinda like 2 buttpacks that become an assault pack.
With respect to opsec, could you do a video on the lbv vest Ranger Reg uses and how its setup? Again, not asking for you to divulge sensitive info but I'd rather listen to the Rangers on what kit is all purpose compared to anyone else.
I think of open desert when i think of gwot. Id imagine vehicle insertion was more prevalent where as the urban warfare requires house to house and needing more variable equipment.
Not really a belt rig set-up, but I was kind of curious how/if someone could run the old South African M83 battle jacket/combat vest (aka the Mad Max vest) with a plate carrier (like the 5.11 TacTec or the Agilite K19, etc). Slick front or mag pouches?
Peace and happy holidays brother I have a question. Now I’ve asked this question and tried to read Reddit post to try and understand this topic but I’m still very lost. Here’s my question. What is a battle or go to war rifle? More specifically what constitutes a battle rifle? I’m not talking about accessories, scopes and rails and ammo. Like a simpler question could be what’s a liberal or what’s a sports car, or what’s makes a more comfortable mattress. I feel when I ask this question people go down crazy rabbit holes of preference and feelings. I’ve seen so many posts on AR15 & AK47 variants and been told all manner of things from UA-cam personalizes and bloggers without them answering the fundamental question. Like when people say PSA or S&W or Springfield make good rifles but I won’t trust my life with it, what does that mean? They say things like these aren’t go to war rifles. My question has always been okay well what are? Like what determines this? Is it simply the manufacturing, materials & metallurgical, QA processes, gov, state & private contracts? Aside from the whole “these are full auto and those aren’t” aside from the “this is $5000.00 and that’s $1000” what sets them apart? Like I made a joke to my fiancé this morning that PSA has the SCAR in 6.5 creedmore on sale. It’s a $1500 off discount. So I joked with her that with the money we could save buying it on sale we could put the rest to the poor man’s version the JAKL. So being an auditor she smirked then asked me which one would the army buy and why is one better? I was stuck so I just made up some facts she probably isn’t gonna research. So I thought maybe someone like you could answer the question. I asked MAC this same question last year and he just replied “our ancestors went to war with just muskets”. Now I love the guy but I kinda felt even dumber for asking. So maybe you can help answer the question? What is a go to war or battle room rifle?
Wouldn’t it interfere with a standard long ruck sack? Looks like you need a small pack that rises above the rear pouches of the belt. Also what happens with the rucksacks waist strap?
From experience those are things that need to be accounted for a gear adjusted so they merry up well. Big notes Alice ruck is perfect because it’s meant to be used with belt kit, if the ruck rests on to of the pouches it all works out because the belt acts as a waist strap.
Crossfire rucks are pretty short and I'm almost certain they designed this rig to be used in conjunction with them. It's british PLCE modernized, you use the pouches as a shelf and the beltkit acts as the waist belt.
@@Dero_milsurp it wasn’t perfect but if look at what is being pushed out there. Belt kits that are so loaded up with the same thing Alice provided. The ability to carry the minimum items needed then supplement with a daypack for next level. I don’t see a regular guy not dealing with infantry combat needing a vest with armor. What ever you are doing you can get by with a harness supported belt kit. Chest rigs are just moving items up and vests do the same. It was a simple design that gave you what you needed. Just my old school opinion.
@@GoaTrex2531 Modern belt kit provides superior materials, superior system of attachment, superior quality, superior layering and superior distribution/comfort. You dont even sound like you were in a combat job. Old school is not always best. And in this case, definitely not.
@@Dero_milsurp I’m just saying for a set of gear that lasted 30 plus years it is fully capable of doing the job. Pick whatever you like. My job was radio operator in USMC Artillery. Desert Storm veteran if it matters.
Try out the "Krydex" molle belts. $50 and i love it for my job. Im a corrections officer, so id say light duty compared to patrol LE or Mil, but its held up to running and going hands on with inmates very well. Comes with a cobra style buckle and its your typical 2 piece velcri belt and i believe they make a battle belt or whatever its called, the one piece belt you just throw on over everything. While i doubt it would hold up to really serious use like trench warfare, its held up greatly to my 2 years as a CO. Im upgrading to a blue alpha gear belt tho as im going to the academy to become a regular patrol officer and i want to make sure o use something i know 110% i can trust to take a beating if the need arises. But yea, check em out, great budget belt in my opinion and i think a lot more people should check em out. OH and when i first ordered mine they forgot to send the inner belt, customer service was incredible and overnighted it to me.
@@ShibbyMcCleud looking at the pouches they could have sown the buckle to the pouch itself making one handed operation easier. It'll admit the crossfire one is better than most other offerings but the WAS one is cheaper and still high quality
@@merc741 Totally fair, I'm just reserving judgement till it gets in more hands. Also didn't even look at the buckles, I hate pouches that make one handed operation difficult. Those fixed/surface mount fastex buckles are fantastic. You got any idea where to find the WAS belt in the US?

I dont won't to disappoint you. But even imperial guard loadout is battle belt with all gear. And just with simple armor and shoulder armor.
The older PLCE in what they called "assault order" also had these two little cylinder shaped packs which carried more gear, kinda like 2 buttpacks that become an assault pack.
desert tiger stripe my beloved 🩷
With respect to opsec, could you do a video on the lbv vest Ranger Reg uses and how its setup? Again, not asking for you to divulge sensitive info but I'd rather listen to the Rangers on what kit is all purpose compared to anyone else.
I think of open desert when i think of gwot. Id imagine vehicle insertion was more prevalent where as the urban warfare requires house to house and needing more variable equipment.
Go breakout and break down of the different combat carrying loads, etc.
lets go, the smersh at home
Not really a belt rig set-up, but I was kind of curious how/if someone could run the old South African M83 battle jacket/combat vest (aka the Mad Max vest) with a plate carrier (like the 5.11 TacTec or the Agilite K19, etc). Slick front or mag pouches?
I’ve tried it, it’s not comfortable even with slicks. The chest rig works better but it’d be best if you swapped it to an H harness instead of an X.
Please review attackpak. I have been eyeballing it for a long time, but cant bring myself to click buy with so few reviews
Velocity systems jungle kit?
I know this vids a bit old, but you got a quick list of what you were wearing in that MSW picture at 4:28?
Wouldn’t it interfere with a standard long ruck sack? Looks like you need a small pack that rises above the rear pouches of the belt. Also what happens with the rucksacks waist strap?
From experience those are things that need to be accounted for a gear adjusted so they merry up well. Big notes Alice ruck is perfect because it’s meant to be used with belt kit, if the ruck rests on to of the pouches it all works out because the belt acts as a waist strap.
Pretty sure a company which specializes in packs have considered this.
Crossfire rucks are pretty short and I'm almost certain they designed this rig to be used in conjunction with them. It's british PLCE modernized, you use the pouches as a shelf and the beltkit acts as the waist belt.
@@troynittler5679 thank you! Opening my eyes to older school kit like this definitely not used to it appreciate the intel
@@ShibbyMcCleud gonna look into the brand more thanks!
check out the nixieworks LFR belt kit, looks cool
Seeing how messed up you had your Smersh set up I'm not surprised you didn't like beltkits
Loved my issued USMC warbelt but when it was time to deploy I found myself in vehicles more often than not and it got in the way
2590 batteries for daaaays, bro
Looks like a pretty legit rig
deciding between the crossfire dz and a nixieworks belt. Tiger/golden tiger stripe is so in right now.
Ever decide?
@@kelvinkonkel3351 not yet
Very nice keep up the great content
Can't imagine laying that much for it
Having pouches sewn on is a big no go for me. I'll stick with my old Canadian 1982 kit.
So, this just looks like British PLCE albeit PALS compatible, no?
Funny we used the 782 gear for like 3 or 4 decades.
Why do I get the idea that Alice gear was no so bad after all.
Alice itself sucks. Especially the mounting system.
@@GoaTrex2531 gear is better now. More capable and better quality. Maybe you should try out new gear and youll realize how worse ALICE is now.
Love it bro open my mind thanks😮
I like my sso smerch. Very comfy.
Do you prefer to have a buttpack from a Smersh or more gp pouches on kit ?
Warrior Assault Systems make a better webbing belt with fantastic pouches. I'd seriously check it out
You can't really say it's better until the DZ-rig has actually released. I'm not a crossfire fanboy, but damn bro cool your jets.
@@ShibbyMcCleud😂
@@ShibbyMcCleud looking at the pouches they could have sown the buckle to the pouch itself making one handed operation easier. It'll admit the crossfire one is better than most other offerings but the WAS one is cheaper and still high quality
@@merc741 Totally fair, I'm just reserving judgement till it gets in more hands. Also didn't even look at the buckles, I hate pouches that make one handed operation difficult. Those fixed/surface mount fastex buckles are fantastic. You got any idea where to find the WAS belt in the US?
Ive been trying to get my hands on a crossfire ruck for while since my issued ruck just keeps breaking, but i either have no money to spend for gear or its out of stock
So alice it is.
What are you using to attach your mags to your pc? Just got my ak and im switching over to that instead of an ar.
My curiosity is mounting a pistol
Hey how did this rig do in Spain btw? How did it stack up against the smersh?
