  • The Jupiter Hall presents the art of Ancient Rome. The interior harmoniously combines a white and blue ceiling, spectacular Italian tiles and light green artificial marble. The main decoration of the hall is the statue of Jupiter on a throne, which has never left the walls of the Hermitage.
The Jupiter Hall opens a suite of ceremonial museum halls on the right side of the passage connecting the Winter Palace and the building of the New Hermitage. The new Hermitage was designed in the middle of the 19th century as a special museum building to house the art collections of the imperial family. Antique collections are located on the ground floor of the New Hermitage, and an antique sculpture was placed in the Jupiter Hall, selected in accordance with the scientific views of the second half of the XIX century.
The largest vase in the world, or, as it is called, the "Queen of Vases",
is located in the Hermitage - the first floor.
The craftsmen worked manually on its creation for almost 25 years,
    searched for a suitable pedestal,
    then polished it,
and carved the picturesque ornament on the walls.
When she arrived in St. Petersburg,
she was stored for a very long time in a warehouse near the Hermitage,
since the dimensions of the "Queen of Vases" were too large for the halls of the Hermitage.
