You are a hero to Star Wars Corey.
Legends after Endor by far my favorite period.
Love me Legends post-Empire.
Same. Especially love the ship design in this time (nebula star destroyer is my all time favorite)
I love it too, but not for any of the main characters. I loved it for Boba Fett, Lando, Admiral Akbar and Wedge. But I couldn't stand Luke, Leia, Han, Mara Jade or their GOD awful children. I mean I kinda liked Ben Skywalker and Jacen a lil. But I genuinely think that the sequels handled them better. I don't know why all three of the Solo kids decided to pick up the saber and X-Wing controls. You'd think ONE of them would be smart enough to be an artist or something. Mara Jade felt like Zahn's fantasy Mary Sue. And they only killed off chewie because the writers were sick of accounting for a character they'd have to get creative to write, and it made for cheap tragedy.
That being said, it's just my opinion, and I still liked the stuff and you shouldn't feel bad about liking it.
@@noname-bu1ux I didn’t ask for a paragraph about what you didn’t like.
@@thecommandant2831 my bad g
So neat seeing so many books condensed into less than an hour and 10 minutes.
Wedge Antilles on top frfr, my boy is the MVP of the New Republic ong
Wedge was always top tier, even back in the OG films. No one else in the Galaxy got to put two Death Stars on their Victory Markings- and he wasn't a magic space wizard. (Then came the Rogue Squadron novels... oh boy, he gets even better)
I want to know who was flying that one Y Wing after the first death star. Whatever happened to him
@@willlauzon3744 Depending on which canon you go by... Evaan Verlaine (canon) or Keyan Farlander (EU)
@@Sephiroth144 thanks. Original expanded is the way to go. Always thought that guy would have a hell of a story.
@@willlauzon3744 And if you can find it, there's a short stand alone fan game called "Battle of Yavin"; (look for Bruno R Marcus on the Internet Archive...). Pretty solid shooter where all thirty of the fighters go against the Death Star in Expanded Universe fashion (if you or someone else has played, shhhh, let them see it themselves...)
The part that I always loved about it is (just about?) every pilot is named from the canon and EU sources- and depending how good you are, you can bring home more pilots. Or you can lose everyone else. (And I think the pilots are decent, with some tweaks for Wedge and Farlander and the Squad leaders; they seem to be the most common ones to survive)
Legends is just SO much better than 80% of Disney canon. The amount of material alone in pre to post endor is astonishing and could take hundreds if not thousands of human years to cover via movies, without even needing to dive into shootoff stories or minor characters. Really wish we got this content back in comics, games, film, and television
Sheer quantity dosnt always mean quality. For example alot of this lore comes from RPG guidebooks or stories that arnt overally that engaging in their own right.
Alot of good legends martial but let's not act long or legends is better soley down to scale.
00:58:39 "It wasn't all bad news for Rogriss, however. First, he was able to like & subscribe for more StarWars videos..."
Well played. If I don't notice your sneakiness I consider my mission failed. Also, thank you, Corey, for your service to all StarWars fans.

Yeah
So was Admiral Akbar.

NOM NOM NOM!
I hate everything about how you said that even if I agree 😂
Legends after Endor timeline will always be better than “so all the imperials died at jakku and the war ended” this is far more interesting and I wish Disney would have gone the route of making their tv series and new movies in this setting
Disney think star wars fans will consume anything with the Star Wars label on it. With some people, Disney is right, but people with strandards will choose quality.
They literally are tho? The entirety of the mandolorian takes place after the battle of jakku and follows thier struggle against the imperial remnant
@@MikeWasTherethe "imperial remenant" being like 5 guys heavily threatening the way of life of like 5 other guys, right
@@MikeWasTherewhat imperial remnant though. They don't show any major problems only to the mandalorians. And ultimately are doing f all. Mean while the legends etc is way more interesting with imperial warlords controls multiple systems which makes more sense than the empire lost a battle and the whole empire surrenders wth
@@afriendlycadian9857well that was quite literally how the series ended after RotJ. The edits George made to it after the fact shows that Palpatine’s death was the end of the GCW and the immediate end of the Empire. The EU, while making more sense, was never truly canon no matter how much everyone wants to cope and say it was.
It's so epic that the admiral was able to effective wage war with only Nebulon Bs and Y-wings. I'd love to see a movie or series about that.
I really like the art from Kaine's "Inquestors of Justice" at 9:20. IDK I've just been really into marker art lately. The whole video is good, but I really appreciate the visuals in this one.
Aren’t the Inquestors suppose to be Inquisitors and dark Jedi and those troopers the Guardians from another branch?
@@thecommandant2831 no idea I literally just like the art
So much material the sequels could have used, especially the Thrawn trilogy. And look what we got instead...
Dont want to spoil anything for you but you should REALLY check out the Ahsoka series... Disney may have stuffed up Rise of Skywalker especially but they are on the right track with Ahsoka, Andor, Mando, etc...
@@namikstudios Things are getting better true but it's still a pale shadow of this.
@@namikstudiosAndor is the only exception. Sorry, its great if you had fun with the new shows, im happy for you and i wish i could be so blissfully ignorant and tuned out to reality, but Mando Season 3 and Ashoka were TERRIBLE, just like everything else since Disney took over (except Rouge One, Andor, and Madno was ok i guess at the beginning). Pointless, incoherent messes of nonsense Stories that ruin every established character in them (especially Thrawn, my poor, poor Thrawn, what has Disney done to you holy shit) and defy all logic. Yes, my Monkey Brain also liked the Anakin Cameo and Luke Cameos, but it was all so hollow, shallow and pointless.
funnyyellowdog is right. Legends should have been adapted. It was the only Choice to make. Disney has ruined everything. No discussion to be had.
@@datzfatz2368 actually the only thing that Disney has really stuffed up was Rise of Skywalker, which was a pretty big stuff up for sure. The rest of their output has been at least passable. Force Awakens isn't great but not terrible either, while Last Jedi is easily the best of the three sequels (don't @ me about it, not interested in hearing racist and/or sexist opinions). Rogue One was fantastic. Solo is terribly underrated and is quite enjoyable once you get over Harrison Ford not being in it. Mando, Andor, and Ashoka are all very enjoyable. Disney hasn't ruined Thrawn, in fact they brought in Timothy Zahn (creator of the character) to work on Ashoka specifically so they would get the character right.
Being tuned out to reality is actually a prerequisite when watching a work of science *fiction*. It's called suspension of disbelief. Some people really do take Star Wars way too seriously. It's a show. Relax and enjoy it. If that is not possible for you, I suggest you find something else that you do enjoy. If you start watching something with the prejudice that "Disney has ruined everything" then you aren't going to enjoy it, no matter how good or bad it may actually be.
@@namikstudiosnah I'm good m8.
A whole hour. My dude!!!! 👏👏👏
So if any of these planets had say overthrew their imperial garrisons themselves and declared indepenece, would the new repulblic honor their new soverignity, or would they in turn foster rebellions against this soverign power to get people friendlier in charge? I seem to recall an episode of tapcsf transmissions where someone was trying to do that on some planet Wedge was on.
Thyferra
They mostly honoured planets neutrality, their strategy was to control hyperspace routes and supply corridors avoiding heavily reinforced worlds. Diplomacy played a big part in getting neutral worlds to join the NR, as it is mentioned several times in the X-wing novels and even the start of the Thrawn trilogy as a lot of worlds simply didn't really trust the Rebels at the start
Let's go! A nice documentary!
Amazing project!
Leaving a passionate like for this vid, since I've already seen to the non-compilation stuff.
Now I find myself wishing they had made games based on the Rogue Squadron and Wraith Squadron books in the style of the old Factor 5 Rogue Squadron games. The Battle of Folor sounds almost exactly like one of the missions from those games.
The general stories of those booms were ok, but the math was a little messed up
The X-Wing and Heir to the Empire books were great to read for post Endor action
This is amazing Corey thanks for all the hard work you put into this!!!!
Man, I didn't know I needed Star Wars to be just a giant history lesson, but I could use more of this.
This video is my motivation that maybe one day Ill finish TR galactic conquest on hard difficulty
honestly the empire became like the real life Chinese dynasties, if there been someone with enough power and legitimacy. the empire could have bounced back, ironically that could only be a sith and they were dead
The key to all of this is a line in A New Hope- The Emperor had dissolved the only other central governing body than himself (The Imperial Senate) and devolved local power directly to all of the various Moffs and Admirals which allowed them to accumulate independent power. If Palpatine hadn't been so personally power hungry, the Empire might have survived him as a more unified body.
*sigh* It's such a shame we don't have this series of events anymore. To me "The Empire fractured due to infighting immediately after the Emperor's death and fell over time due to the Republic managing to gain victory over victory against them" made way more than "The Empire fell because the Emperor decided to litterally 'Burn them all.'"
Thankfully we're talking about the Legends continuity (aka the real one).
this is amazing. the empire was GIANT, i guess we will never have a true know about the size of the big star wars factions, we only see a little part of them
This makes way more sense than what one had to assume when episode 6 came out.
"The emperor is dead, so now all the remains of the empire have despawned"
(Yes i know the expanded universe... Well... Expansed upon jedis ending. But when you watched episode 6 in theater that content was not yet available.
Yay,more long form content. Go Corey!
Now this, I like!
Amazing content! Thank you
LOVE IT!!!
I want to see a full breakdown like this of the clone wars
Makes more sense than a Galactic Empire collapsing in 1 year or things like destroying loyalist worlds in Operation Cinder. Disney canon sucks basically and dropping the Warlord period was real dumb
Yup, not to mention it really hurt characters like thrawn, perrion, and daala. The warlord period showed how corrupt and self-serving the empire was. If thrawn or daala had been recalled from exile, or had a position of power, the rebels would not have won, hoth would have been their tomb. Thrawn would have counseled Vader to get more ships before performing recon, and daala would have probably been able to concentrate her forces to better counter the ion cannon.
Man. It's funny how Corey is one of the few Legends fan who ain't annoying about Discanon, but people like you are the shitstain of the underwear of this channel lol
Operation Cinder being a thing even though the other Contingency is a thing and the Emperor fully intended to come back and rule the Galaxy is beyond blisteringly stupid.
To be fair to Disney there was more after that point but the empire got so tyrannical it just seems like most sectors were going with the flow as to not get the burnt by the imperial forces. There still are empire hold outs but y'know who wants to stay with a government that blew up a planet, a very old and important planet near the core?
It's like the US nuking NY, Texas, or Cali, heck even worse cause a nuke wouldn't destroy the whole state. It's like multiple nukes at those states. Doubt people are gonna have a lot of objections to a new government taking over at a certain point.
And they could’ve made the sequel trilogy a bit later then.
amazing. cool stuff.
Long form content is always great
The amount of plot armor the new republic has is staggering
It's more that they were the only faction not in absolute chaos. The other "states" had to worry about funny things like forming an actual logistical base for their military, or deciding who's in charge, or killing each other in an orgy of plasma fire because the rebels are halfway across the galaxy and that neighboring moff is stealing YOUR rightful territory since you (insert warlord here) are the one true emperor! Lmao
@@Tom_Cruise_Missile kinda reminds me of the Sengoku Jidai period of Japanese history.

Wow great vids.😊 Love the breakdowns with the maps and progression. 👍
This is awesome, I'm gonna take some inspiration from this for my New Republic playthrough
Yooo what program is being used to generate some of the scenes? It’s fantastic. Great job on this long form content!
I make them all in Blender
I enjoy both continuities but maaaaan, I wish canon had the more drawn out collapse of legends. Feels more realistic for a galactic conflict.
It's not covered as much yet, but it basically does. Jakku is a much bigger individual victory but as we see in even just the shows, there's still Warlords to fight, and the political side takes a bigger importance.
"canon" is non-canon, legends is canon :)
Wow, I would love an open universe strategy game based on this where you take control of the fleets.
Not to mention another Rouge Squadron style game based on these events themselves.
There’s a game already like this, it’s called Empire at war. You control the fleets, and the ground battles. It’s like, hearts of iron with the grand strategy of moving divisions around and fleets and organizing, but then when you battle it turns into a RTS like company of heros so you can control your capital ships and support ships and fighter squads in battle, or on the ground control the tanks and the platoons of infantry. It’s a cool game. Vanilla it’s Empire Vs Rebels, both have way different play styles. As the rebels you actually have to use guerilla warfare tactics to start off with and a lot of hit and run. The factions play pretty lore accurate it’s great fun
Shit is beautiful
The first time you said the black asp, I thought you said the black @ss, 😅 I died when you said the black moon 😅
Now this interesting
Damn that was epic
Grand Admiral Thrawn brings in the Gamalions. And leader Deslock. While fighting a more devastating enemy. The Daleks.
I'd love a Universe Crossover tale where Thrawn tries to study Dalek art...

"What's our strategy?" Tycho asked.
Hobbie gave him a curious look. "I thought we'd just all draw and fire. But I could count down to zero and then we could draw and fire."

i can understand the impulse of mom mothma and others to focus on rebuilding rather than diging out the last few imperual ticks. but not pushing their advantage now only allowed the remints to consolidate, dig in and wait for thawn, the reborn emperor and other pretenders to the thrown which ultarmatly left the new republic weaker in the long run
What disney really should do is make a nect gen massive online MMO. Make us join factions and go about whatever we want to do then add it into the universe of starwars after in the format of movies and can represent peoples characters in the show if they become well known
14:39 I just can’t find the spelling but what route is this?
49:48 is this the only time 2 allied ssd caliber ships faught together? Don’t think Yvetha had 2 or the imperial remnant did?
So... where's this follow-up on the Thrawn Campaign?
2 reasons really, the military wasn't formed for an attrition war so suffered from a powerful hit and run gurilla warefare the rebels brought to them. And second they lost the hearts and minds of their citizens from the way they govern.
I will do what I must.
Ngl, I'm really curious what ideas anyone has for how the valiant looks.

What's the imperials motervation at this poit? I get the warlords want to hold on to their position but why would they have any support beyond very fring groups at this point? They are no longer an effective security force, they are openly slaging planets and fight battles that kill thair men seemingly just to buld personal clout.
they didn't have support, that's why the fell.
They were trying carve up the remnants of the Empire and establish their own personal fiefs. Why? Because many of them never believed in the Empire in the first place. The only thing that held things together was fear of Palpatine.
