  • My 7-year-old got a new Jazzmaster this past weekend, and after a setup it's a fun little guitar. Recorded direct to iPhone via my Line 6 Helix Floor.

@@juandgz68 To address tuning issues, most of the work went into filing the nut slots, making sure they were wide enough, low enough, and angled down to the tuners correctly. I also made sure not to wrap the strings too many times around the tuner posts.

I have this same one and thinks it’s pretty neat. I’m a newbie in the guitar world so I’d love to hear what you have to say about it. I know the frets are a little sharp and it not a $1000 guitar but I have it hooked up to the Spark amp and seems like an ok guitar, is it or is it a piece of 💩 ?

I got this one for my daughter, and it's a fun little guitar. The frets were a little rough (making bends feel gritty), and the nut slots were too tight (making the strings go out of tune). But after fixing those issues and giving the guitar a setup it's been solid.

@@burningyen I think I have that same problem as you had with then nut slots being too tight because my strings are definitely going out of tune from time to time. This might sound like a joke question to you but it’s not just really don’t know. Where are the nut slots and how do I fix those ?I’d appreciate any help ,thanks man.

@@benallmark9671 The nut is the white piece of plastic that the strings run through where the neck of the guitar meets the head of the guitar. I highly recommend you ask a local tech to help you with the tuning issues. Nut slot work isn't something that a beginner will have the right tools or skills to handle. Good luck!

@@burningyen I had the same issue on my Mini. I find that taking a mechanical pencil and "drawing" a bunch of graphite in to each of the nut's six slots quite effectively lubricates the surfaces and stops string pinching. I eventually went all the way up to power slinkies with no issue using this same technique.

@@lacussol26 Thanks, I do also lubricate all of my nut slots with a graphite+petroleum jelly combination (Big Bends Nut Sauce). Pencil lead and Vaseline works just as well. But in the case of my daughter's Mini JM, lubrication wasn't enough to solve the binding at the nut, and the slots themselves had to be widened to work properly.
