Back in those days there just wasn’t the same awareness of how serious stalking could be. Personal information like addresses and phone numbers were pretty easy to find, even without a private investigator.
There are way to many loopholes even in today's justice system!
They were hired for a job. They had no idea that the purpose was to murder someone. I feel incredibly sad what happen to Rebecca but blaming private investigators and especially at a time when stalking was not really heard of yet is just trying to find a way to blame to as many people as possible when only one man was responsible for doing that deed. If there has to be further blame it would be to those who ignored the background of Robert Bardo and what he had already done and not put him in a hospital already.

The Bystander Effect is very real and people don't want to risk their own life for a stranger, which is perfectly reasonable.
Shaming them for not pulling off Rambo-esque badassery, however, is not.
Getting footage of an assault is extremely beneficial to the investigation.

When I'm at work and someone comes up to me and ask does this person work today, do you have their number. I just say never heard of them. And then they leave.
Someone at my workplace told a man who came in looking for me exactly where I was at the time. I was at work, but she told him exactly where I was located at my place of work. He didn't even give my real name to her but she told him where I was. He went looking for me & found me. I had been on a dating site & somehow he figured out where I work. I was upset he showed up like that & I was upset that my co-worker told this man that I work there & exactly where I was at. She told me she didn't know if he was my boyfriend. My boyfriend would KNOW my name. You are correct, workplaces or anyone at your place of work should not give it out that you work there or any information about you to random people. Nothing happened to me. Good thing that man did not intend harm.

I heard the Case with Robert Bardo different back then. The story I heard was Robert wrote her a fan letter and the script writer of the show put things in her script that communicated with Robert from his letter. I know Robin Williams was big into the communications game.
I believe they skipped many details of the encounter.
@@loopthetube I know I was being stalked by members of the Broadcasting Industry. Still am but it's a lot bigger. The WWE is after me, Dwayne Johnson and his group. I'm sure I talked to the Vegas Shooter 2 or 3 night's before the Vegas Shooting. But I always remember what they said about Rebecca and her stalking being talked to or messaged in her script. They do that to me all the time. Right now I've got Jesse Ventura with his Biker show after me as well as, "The Hell's Angel's" and a local bike Club made up of Native American's.

Why do so many of these 20/20 part 1, part 2... true crime series not have the last part anywhere on UA-cam? This is the umpteenth one I’ve watched and am very interested in the finish but a search for it finds all kinds of related videos but not one that is actually part the series I’ve been watching. So frustrating.

Well their "carefully designed marketing strategy" doesn't work because you can watch the whole thing on the ABC app with few to no commercial breaks.

And always pray that God and our guardian Angel's can protect us. Life is hard with toxic people bringing you down. It's not easy.
@Mag Its not the guns,its the people and comparing the US to other countries is not practical.There is a HUGE difference.First of all,the US was established as a free country which means free will and with free will,comes ill will.It will be that way whether there are guns or not.I agree we should have stricter gun laws that can make it more difficult to get a gun for someone who could be a risk.The reason the US has guns and other countries don't,is because of who we are as a nation and are privileges.If we were just a nation where only the police and government have guns and not each individual,then we would not be able to defend ourselves and our property from intruders.Especially for people who do not have the strength to fight someone off or don't have time to call the police.I definitely think we should be allowed to have guns in our homes,but out of reach of kids.I don't believe in playing with guns like a lot of people do either.Just shooting them for fun or whatever.I'm not for guns or against guns,but I believe in the right to protect ourselves in our homes.One thing that might help is if people kept their guns hidden and secured,so no one can steal them to kill someone.....

Mag there’s a lot of successful people who like guns and I don’t think they have the intelligence of a second grader. And more than just liking a gun it’s just common sense to have it and not use it than need it and not have it. Criminals will commit crimes regardless of strict gun control laws and those laws will only make me a victim and criminal without committing one.

I find it amazing that Theresa Saldana not only survived being stabbed ten times by Arthur Richard Jackson, but also the fact that she was gutsy enough to avoid reliving that traumatic experience by playing herself in that made for television movie "Victims For Victims"! She sounds like she was a very strong woman both mentally and physically!

We don't get your show here in Australia but I would really enjoy your program if I could see the full story. There really isn't a reason to watch when you can't see the whole story.
