I remember this murder. Such a sad story about an innocent person. And let's take a moment to acknowledge her grace, sweetness, professionalism and talent. A candle that was snuffed out before her time. RIP, Rebecca

I will never forget hearing her casket was situated by her mom Danna at the funeral. Her mom reportedly sat with her hand on Rebecca's casket during the whole service. That is such a powerful image. RIP to Rebecca. Comfort to her beloved parents.

My first job is an extra was on a pilot that Rebecca did with Bill Maher called out of time. We were stuck in this old tunnel near downtown LA and she was so beautiful and patient and kind and generous talking to us even though we were all being kind of annoying but she was so wonderful and vibrant and alive and when I heard a few months later that she was murdered it was just so devastating she couldn’t have been nicer and this maniac took advantage of that a tragic loss for all of us

If you watch this video, when Jordan goes up to the mailbox, you see their are no names on it, if you see old pictures of that apartment and stuff you see all the last names of the residents on the mailboxes , including Rebecca Schaeffer's ,I guess the landlord is understandably paranoid for the safety of his clients after that, Pam Dawber said in an interview on an ABC special that she told Rebecca Schaeffer not to put her real name on her Driver's License or on her mailbox so no deranged fan could find her, Pam Dawber told her that because she also had a dangerous fan too before My Sister Sam and she took those precautions

It seemed like she didn’t know it was him. Maybe the view out the door was obscured by lighting inside the building or something. Like glare or reflection, or maybe from strong sunlight outside. Doubt she would have opened it again to someone she’d already dismissed. Or who knows, maybe to be sure he left for good she did recognize him and decided to make it real clear she wanted him to leave for good.

You would have if you were waiting on a script to read for a role in what was at the time like the most awaited film in history. She had no choice but to open the door, or forget the shot at the role. By all accounts she wasn't creeped out by his intial visit, just annoyed because she was busy and eagerly waiting for her script, so there was no reason for her not to go on with her day

I remember this so well. I was 13 when it happened. It was the first stalker incident I really, consciously remember, too. I remember when John Lennon was killed, but just as a 5 year old who remembers seeing a lot of stuff on TV about it. But I was a huge My Sister Sam fan. I had the People magazine with her on the cover that came out right after this for YEARS! But I remember it well. In fact, I always felt the property management should have carried some liability. The reason she had to go to the door was because the intercom didn't work. So when someone rang her buzzer, she couldn't talk to them, she HAD to go to the door. And as you said, she was waiting for a messenger to deliver scripts. That always bothered me about this case. That and if he REALLY wanted to have killed himself, he should have done it BEFORE and save us all the trouble!😤😤😤

I saw an interview on UA-cam with Pam Darber and the crew. Pam and the makeup artist for the show said that Rebecca had come onto the set and complained about this guy. Pam said that she instructed her to not put her name on the mailbox outside she was so concerned. Pam said her reaction was "Oh I'll be fine". R.I.P. Rebecca.

I heard on one show about Rebecca that the intercom was broken, which is why she came downstairs. @99mrpogi 6 місяців тому

Yeah. I'm not saying that the landlord may also be at fault but it really makes me wonder why or how he is unable to afford to have the intercom replaced or repaired. It's not like Rebecca Schaeffer or any of the other tenants is late for her or their payments and the landlord could have used the money to have the intercom replaced or repaired. If there are indeed other tenants aside from Rebecca, the other tenants could have probably been killed in that same apartment and Rebecca herself could have moved to another apartment

Wow - The SAD STARTS NOW!!!!!!!!🤦‍♂️ Thanks great job on covering this tragedy. I thumbs up but they are so sad. But when You cover these topics you really pay tribute to her and the loss/stolen life gifts she and others could have shared with the world. And help us remember them and help us reflect on being nice and kind. ( could be just me - but if only me that's ok .) See you tomorrow partner.

Can't imagine if someone will introduce themselves as a son or daughter or relative or family friend of the paramedics who responded to the scene or perhaps son/daughter/relative/friend of the doctors and nurses who attended to the body of Rebecca Schaeffer. They will probably tell their own accounts of the story

The apartment seems so peaceful yet there's a sadness knowing what happened there in 1989. I was 23 years old in 1986. I moved from Pittsburgh to Sarasota, Florida. I lived for a year at my parents house. But, I got hooked on My Sister Sam during this time. I moved out of that house and sort of forgot about Rebecca Schaeffer until her murder in 1989. But, now I do think of her every now and then. She was very talented and seemed like she was heading for a good amount of success and stardom. I assume she was going to audition for the part of Pacino's daughter in Godfather 3 (my dad is the only person I know that actually likes Godfather 3. The first 2 are masterpieces. The third, not so much). She may have been quite better than Sofia Coppola, who didn't work out in that part, imho. Anyway, thanks for the video and narration. Well done. Rebecca Schaeffer's mom became an advocate for gun control and The Brady Bill back in the early 90's. Bardo's brother is the one that actually bought the gun. Robert Bardo was too young (considered a straw purchase). Stalking laws were also changed in California and eventually the rest of the country due to this tragedy.

Wow ... I will never see godfather 3 the same . You taught me something new today. I suspect she was looking at Al Pacinos daughters role.

I think you’re right about her going for the part in playing Al Pacino’s daughter in Godfather 3.

Yes she was planning on reading for the Corleone daughter that eventually went to Coppola's own daughter, which ironically was one of the biggest detractors of the film. The film may not have been looked at as unfavorably if Rebecca had won the part

I talked to this one guy, who met Rebecca Schaeffer, he was an extra in the television movie Out of Time it starred Rebecca Schaeffer, Bill Maher, and Bruce Abbott, and he was talking about how friendly she was to people on the set, she actually treated you like you mattered, she would talk to you like you were her best friend, she treated him that way as well, which she was kind of breaking filming rules, because stars are not really suppose to socialize with extras, because it kind of hold things up and can upset their performance on screen, when they break character, but he says she was the nicest woman he ever met, and ultimately being to nice and to people she didn't know to well would later cause her demise, when she was real nice to a certain fan

I remember when this happened too. What a tragedy and intensely sad thing. But perhaps some good came out of it with the changing of laws, etc. Modern Hollywood history. The building is so beautiful as well. It is interesting that you said you felt something there. You brought her back into the minds of a few people and that is great. xoxo

sounds demented, but the cool aspect of the Rebecca part vlog end was the disapation/fading of the EMS sirens as you ended the segment which faded to the next segment. irony.
