Fantastic, how can there be thumbs down on this. Mr Humphreys was an Australian original, never replicated. Should be celebrated and never forgotten.
Yep 100% the legacy will always live on through the music!! And by the way your just as much a legend too!!!
@@warrenjones4407 Thanks Warren, I appreciate the compliment although I doubt I'm in the same league as this man. It's humbling to be compared though.
Ignorant people
British born actually.
@@raerae3844 Me too but migrated to Oz with my family in 1964 and been back and forth a few times, does that mean I'm not an Aussie? Of course I am still British (born in London) but like so many of my compatriots I'm a bit of each. Like Mr Humphries I began my musical career in Australia and for most of my early years took my cue from the Australian music scene, so I'm a child of Aussie music; like Gerry.
One of the greatest voices in Australian rock history.
Superb performance by a man who should be revered as one of the greatest Australian rock performers of all time. Thanks Gerry.
Gerry's the best vocalist in the world! His special treatment of music is beautifully dangerous, unpredictable and endearing. Who can say that? Amazing talent never to be matched. God Bless you. Brother! You give us more than we deserve.
But why did it stop so abruptly, I was too young to follow this, but I missed not hearing anything new from TLO.'s Dis s/one die?
And why if it had to end, did Gerry not front for another band or even reform a new group to continue his carreer?
He had another band after with a larger line up that played a few of the old songs. He later moved back to England where he was born and worked as a care giver in the medical field. He performed in an Aussie pub on weekends and had a round of drinks with those who were visiting the Uk and remembered him. That is the story I have heard. I'm a late comer as a fan. Makes no difference to me. I'm floored by Gerry's voice. I'm glad you enjoy him too.@@johnzuijdveld9585
I think he was beautifully dangerous 😱
@@johnzuijdveld9585he had a heart attack and died in the UK
He was my favourite singer ..still had it all those tears later❤❤❤
He was awesome. Unique.
He was my fave too, love listening to to him sing now ,brings back the times l saw him.❤️❤️❤️
Such a shame gerrys band only lasted 18 months. I’ll never forget this song from 66. I was only. 13
RIP Gerry
Yes, I loved this song too. I was 11 and didn't even know they were an Aussie band.
Is this any good? No it's not good. It's excellent. Great backing, and the front man Gerry ex Loved Ones, well at his best. Pushy vocals and attitude. A natural, on stage, he owns it at rehearsal for goodness sake.Never equalled. RIP Gerry.
I hope the Festival lived up to the soundchecks, because I've seen a few of them and they are something else.
OK! I take it back, this is the Gerry Humphreys that I remember from when I was very young, but I don't know what happened to the Loved Ones, they had a few great hits and then nothing! Did some-one die? I imagined it must have been Gerry but here he is
He was MC @ my first rock festival Launching Place circa 1969😂
My mum used date Gerry. He used to come to our house and dance with me around the loungeroom. So sad he passed away so young. RIP Lovely man.
Gerry had a unique voice 👌 loved one's will never be forgotten Rest in peace
What a versatile voice.
what an extraordinary talent! why is there no tribute to this incredible performer? ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME NOW!!!
I wish we could honour our rock legends and not discard them
To clarify my comment personally I feel we adore our heroes but when the fame is over they are left to sink or swim Gerry finished his days in UK working in a nursing home
This is gold, seeing Gerry Humphreys singing this and excellent quality of the sound and clip and great backing band. Playing one of this country's national anthems.
ditto mate !
Perfection. Ditto.
YES! YES! YES !!!
Stevie Wright, Gerry Humphreys, Bon Scott - our three greatest frontmen/singers.
I agree.
Next would be Jeff St John.
@@IsaacAsimov1992 At least Jeff St John was born in Australia LOL. Seriously though he had an incredible voice. He has always been one of my favourites.
Great performance, great video
So glad I got to see him when he last came to Melbourne. Just brilliant. RIP
What an enormous voice!
Unreal voice, they don't make them like this anymore,😎🥰😂
the loved ones are well loved by aussie kids growing up in the 60,s
I was fortunate enough to see The Loved ones live at The Garrison in Prahran, and also at Opus in the Ormond hall in 1966, memories that will stay with me all of my life..
Amazing, just bought Magic Box (released 1967 - 55 years ago!!!!) and it has been played 6 nights out of 7 for the past two months. How did I miss the Loved Ones!!! This just proves how f...n good Gerry Humphreys was, what a voice and what a performer.
Eeeeeevil Child!!! Love this song. Great band, possibly a bit underrated.
How God damn lucky are we .... thankyou ...
Saw the Loved Ones at the Melbourne Show back in the '60s- great. My fav band of the '60s back then.
This is one crazy song!! Intro is drums in 2/4 juxtaposed with the chords in 9/8, then changes to 3/8 for the verse, next the chorus in 6/8! Crazy!!!!
WOW! 22 years on from the original and he's still got a great voice and a perfect recreation of this brilliant hit from 1966.
Loved this so much rip Gerry
Amazing - saw him at the Tivoli Hotel with his band. What a talent, what great songs. RIP Gerry.
Fuck me, this is a GREAT bit of work! Gerry, we miss you so - we can't go on...
One of the grandfathers of Australian Rock!!
Vaya con Dios, Gerry. You're well missed mate.
Australian rock legend! R.I.P. Gerry.
gerry was an all time great of australian music.
Bravo, he could chanel Beefheart, Howlin' Wolf, Satchmo, and Janis Joplin at the drop of a hat. He sung Mercedes Benz at the end of every night during the Mulwalla rock festival in 1972 when he was MC.
He was also MC at the Miracle rained out concert just up the road from Melbourne and he was Absolutely Fantastic as for the whole time he kept a large number of completely drenched participants, self-included warmly smiling despite the weather CHEERS and RIP
Ongo Bongo!
@@timclifford9069 I forgot about his Ongo Bongo :)
Love you GERRY❤️❤️❤️ saw you and the band at RONDAVUE,,in Mitcham ,l was sixteen and smitten.1966……the best😘😘

How fabulous is this!!
Fantastic quality sound, his voice just gets better and better. And Lisa Edwards a backing singer.
Is that Venetta Fields as well with Lisa Edwards?
When I first heard this band in my early teens I was hooked
I've been watching these clips with the Johnny Farnham backing band and Gerry is the one that blows everyone away! Gold.
miss these BANDS....all gone now...replaced with what? well not replaced at all
Such a gutsy voice.
Where is everybody? I would pay a $1000 to see the Loved Ones today. WTF?
Rehearsal at the actual show there were 10,000 people in the audience
This is a great clip...Gerry art his best!!!!
The quality of these videos is blowing my worm hole apart, wonderful effort!!!!
A Stand out in Aust rock history.

Where’s the crowd? Such a great band.
Just a sound check 🙂
@@narelle-creative-arts yeah sound check for a great show titled Under the Southern Cross which was held the next night the wind was blowing a gale Stevie Wright Gerry Humphries and other Aussie stars it was fantastic
The original punk band
How sad, one of the greatest Australians bands performing to an emty stadium. Perhaps it was a sound check.
That's what it says. ;)
Dumb people commenting on no crowd. Read above, it was a sound check for the concert later that night.
Big crowd
