- 5 days hiking the south rim of the Grand Canyon in April. After spending two nights at the Mather Campground I was able to obtain a walk-in permit to camp at Granite Rapids and Phantom Ranch backpacking much of the South Rim within the park.
Day 1 - arrived at 4:45pm and went to back country office to grab a waitlist number for the following morning. Checked into campsite at Mather Campground.
Day 2 - went to backcountry office and got permits for night 3 at Granite Rapids and night 4 at Phantom Ranch. Day hiked Horseshoe Mesa.

Day 3 - checked out of Mather Campground and took bus to Hermit Rest Trailhead. Hiked to Hermit Rapids campsite by mistake. Then hiked to Granite Rapids campsite.
Day 4 - hiked mostly on the Tonto Platform to Phantom Ranch. Drank lemonade and made my own dinner.
Day 5 - packed up early and headed up the South Kaibab trail. I was the first one out and had the first half of the trail to myself!

Beautiful views and nice video work displaying the area.
Thanks for positive feedback! I'm getting back into UA-cam and have a few more adventures to post. This was definitely one of my favorite hikes!
I have yet to make it to the Grand Canyon! Thanks for sharing Joe!! You are my inspiration!
Hey Jenne! Thanks! The Grand Canyon is great below the rim! Hope the PNW is treating you well!
Outstanding solo adventure, brilliant shots and ambience!
Thanks! I'm working on capturing the moments even better. The Grand Canyon is absolutely beautiful once you drop below the rim!
Great video! I really enjoyed watching. This looks like an amazing trip. So glad you were able to get a permit.
