I felt Swami completely lost the point on the AI question. The concern was not on who contributes to the development of AI but rather its impact on the masses. India is trying to create manufacturing jobs for our large low skilled / unskilled masses. But with the advent of AI those jobs would no longer exist. What is the plan then ? Are they going to remain in the agricultural sector where wages are very low. How can we become a developed country when we are largely an agrarian economy with no option to go up the value chain since AI will eliminate the need for that transition. That is my concern.
Just remembered Mr Kapil Sibal's speech in Parliament regarding Mr Subramaniam Swamy. Seems like his views have changed over the years, more so after he is not in the government since last 10 years.
Both of out of Govt so become friends....

I think many people are confused on this meet, this meet between the two is to discuss the Indian Economy and it's affairs. But people here are targeting the person here on their previous stances over each other. How fragile is the understanding of today's patron specially the young ones. Keep patience and try to capture the correct part of the context.
My God when did a big advocate Kapil sibaal became journalist fantastic
Many people are thinking about it. He has resigned from the Congress and he has said he don't know what he will do next. Now he is having this. Grt
Mr. Sibal and Dr. Swamy are intellectuals. So, I make these comments with a bit of trepidation. Mr. Sibal, all changes have some built-in costs or collateral damage. Because of these costs, one cannot stop the changes; they have to be managed intelligently. Dr. Swamy, you say that NAMO is not educated highly. Education and intelligence are not two sides of the coin. They are different. Would you say that NAMO is not intelligent?
Then y exam r conducted...lets cancel everything

Yes, you are correct....

A nice discussion this is..! Kapil sibal was reformed in his coversing with subramani swamy . Swamy would have been good if not for his sharp criticisms on PM , the PMO , & the English language ..! Also wen Kapil sibal spoke about freebies I would like to add this point that Mrs .Nirmala Seetharaman made an appeal in a TV- interview requesting the political parties including the Bjp , telling not to give freebies (NEVER) for public which would #ruin the economy ..!
Wat I understand from this conversation is , Mr. Swamy is indirectly saying that if he had been the Finance Minister then India 🇮🇳 would have been in its peak of glory .., since that has not happened he down👇 plays every development by the central government ..! Now fir the building of mandirs , Mr. Swamy could have well advised the govt ' or could have been a constructive opposition advising the modi govt ' not to waste money on huge constructions like this but table the commons with good food atleast , as Kapil sibal puts it ...
Kapil sibal should have invited Nirmala ji to this discussion and may be Modi too via Zoom 🙂
We should nt ask the party and their puppets who ruled india most of the time after independence about why our GDP was less than many countries .
Improvement of per capita income is an indicator of the health of the economy..of course that also gets skewed if benefits of growth remain confined to a small number of people...
We need manufacturing. All those 50% of Indians who work in Agriculture cannot be all put into service sector.

Impressive, two people with opposite ideologies discuss the common problem of India without blaming each other. That's what exactly we want.
Swamy has same ideology as sibal
They are jointly blaming a third person. Why would they blame each other? Speaking of ideology, both are interested in personal will being. Truly 'self'-actualised people.
Yes 💯 you are 👍👍
The country is in need of intellectuals to rise above the dynamics of political differences towards a common cause,To rebuild India'.

In politics the best qualification is electability. To survive the storm in midstream one must know swimming. Sanskrit, PhD, econometrics will be of no use.
Decision makers raise in position and expand their scope and influence through experience, networking, intelligence and leadership qualities and lots of common sense which is a scarce resource.
We are in the age of AI unfolding and automating functions for living, working, earning, learning, statecraft....
In near future it will be about prompting and getting the right answers always, on every topic on earth and beyond. Knowledge is required only to select the right model and fine tune it. Rest will follow automatically.
Need for Economics, Econometrics, Economists and similar fields of expertise will be very few and they are rarely used. Lawyers will flourish using AI. Decision makers are required to know the strengths and weeknesses of the assissting models made available to them.

It was delightful to watch Mr Sibal..
I am expecting more interviews. Big big hands up.
Boss - entire discussion is biased. Half the discussion is on per capita and that India is at the bottom among G20 countries. Per capita is a function of GDP and population. In short term, country has control only over GDP. We cannot bring down population drastically unless there is a war OR wide-spread epidemic. "Shoot for the stars and you might land on the moon". Don't get stuck at 5 trillion economy. It was just a vision to galvanize and drive growth. There is still tangible growth in spite of covid and related subsidies. You don't need hardcore economic expert to read this ... just a bit of common sense and balanced mind.

Raghu beta is saying something else . Do not grow the manufacturing sector. Also people are attacking the home grown businessmen.
Swamy keeps talking about the ZERO INCOME TAX theory, which may sound attractive to the salaried middle class & upper middle class who pay the bulk of the income tax, and can't afford CAs to open shell companies etc to become ZERO-TAX. However, except Swamy one has not heard even a single economic pundit or economist supporting that theory., neither from Cong or any other party. Not even the fuddy-duddy CPI.
Chidu, Yashwant, MMS, Raghu, Pranab have always cleverly side-stepped that issue when it came up for discusion in any fora.
If it is such a great & revolutionary idea, there would have been more voices of support.
Clearly Swamy seems to be the only one obsessing over it for more than a decade now.
And his tired repetitive narratives of being the unsung architect of 1991 economic reforms, most powerful cabinet minister in Chandrasekar cabinet, China Mansarovar feat, in which he claims Deng himself told him to go to Mansarovar, his self-proclaimed mastery over Chinese language, his grand theory of economic equilibrium & how Modi is merely an uneducated ignoramus, granting some sort of landing rights to the US for the Gulf war, his glorious Harward teaching stint, from where he tlwas thrown out for extremist views, his so-called dramatic entry /exit into Parliament (no one else remembers nor validates it), his fictional RSS Support base, his Ram setu & Ram temple Role, his great bhakti for Parmacharya & Rajiv Gandhi bonhomie, . ALL THIS is becoming nauseating to hear again & again in every interview of his. .
Swamy has run out of stories to narrate.
People just keep quiet & don't rebutt him, as the guy has enormous time to drag you into courts and waste everyone's time. Best is Modi's policy to ignore him, make him irrelevant, until nature ages him out and he withers away into nothingness.
Its a classic case of a formidable intellect wasted owing to the frustrations of an over-inflated ego.
Raghuram Rajan in a very recent Barkha dutt interview called him a 'most indecent person'.. Swamy spoilt the good relations between Rajan & Modi, and that will remain a mystery why BJP didn't put a gag order on him. But Swamy was rubbishing everyone including Jaitley, who ignored him completely.

I am sorry, but you are missing the larger picture. Too sad to see two eminent leaders that I grew up watching with such a naive discussion.
You guys should go and see NVIDIA deal and the AI semiconductors work done. Sorry, but it’s too disappointing
Mr.Swami, as you say the present govt run by the people in power (even the PMO) who doesn't have the knowledge of economics, then who is teaching/guiding them to run the govt and instruct, what news (tailored) to be presented in the print media?
Amazing to see the duo of paradoxes.
I respected Swamy ji for the fact that he is a critic of BJP's economic policy. However, being a constructive critic does not mean that you join hands with the enemy. By this conversation, it is a clear that there is a congressman in BJP.
....?? Bro Kapil has long been out of the Congress party
@ParthibSamanta-se4rj hs Ideology is similar. Rewatch the interview. When Swamy Ji says India was colonized for about 100 years, he Disagrees and laughs it off. He still does not want to believe that the mughals and other muslim kings who came from abroad were not nice to hindus.
This podcast certainly requires me multiple views to even decipher the complexities they're highlighting ! 😅

These discussions aid in revealing gaps in knowledge and the tendency to promote personal significance through dogma in a particular area.
I just find it sad there was no solutions discussed, I was very hopeful when I saw 2 people with vast experience on the screen . I don't say it is wrong to criticize but if you only criticize then you always look like a loser
Mr. Sibal, When did you start listening to Mr. Swamy? Ask him also about Rahul & his mother...
Source of investment is primarily the savings& other sources like part of revenue from taxations, or borrowings. The analysis of economic morass in which country finds itself ought to be objective. The discussants must eschew personal grudges. Money is the most mobile item. It goes where it is safe & protected against all threats. Profit is only secondary .

This idea that Western companies are using AI due to low population is deliberate propaganda or naivety. They employ AI because it boosts productivity. If India does not adopt it, Gadkari will for example have more than unemployed taxi drivers to take care of. West has its own share of unemployment but they have their eyes on the price.
It is ironic to see both of them asking for liberalization of the economy and yet wanting regulation forcing investment in the same sentence. Just accept that liberalization is not always good.
As for MSMEs, more than tax cuts, it is the bureaucracy that is hard. MSMEs want to focus on business and not book keeping. A blanket tax of 15-20% would have been better. Instead now that they have to play around with input and output. Access to money/loans is another issue. I live in a town of 20K people in Europe and could get at least 500T€ with just a viable business plan approved by a university or business association. And the local agency follows up just after one email. In India, there are layers of laws on who is eligible, what is a startup etc. Not to mention the restrictions on what can be imported etc. There is no focus on value addition.
That brings me to the topic of manufacturing. The focus in West is moving towards circular economy and servitization, value generation. 30% manufacturing is not bad as long as we move up the value chain. IMO, 30% is even a sweet spot where one is not too dependent on exports. There is no need to push for manufacturing just for the sake of it. But like wanting to regulate investment, the government could potentially make sure equipment needed to maintain life standards is produced in India eg road laying, construction equipment, electronic goods, ship building, aircraft etc.
Another point is that the whole MSME hype is again a religious craze than practical economics. Modern industrial chains are collections of high cap, automated industries, which high level of collaborations with top universities and R and D institutes. Even when they seem to be small like in the West, they have the invisible backing of the entire knowledge economy of a first world nation. India is simply not in a position to replicate any of that.
When did these two became friends??
Decent insights. However, both were discussing in a manner, tone and language that is difficult for an average Indian to grasp. Preparing, homework, using simple terms, rephrasing them will help. If not, like Swamy said there are not many Engliish language readers. So, how will you get the mass to watch, listen and understand what's being said.
what these two guys are talking about, they came here to show that they are very very talent and people should make Rahul Gandhi as PM. Indirectly they supporting congress.
Excellent discussion,, my regards, hope it reaches everyone

When Dr Swamy says that's Modiji is uneducated, it just shows to what extent he is disgruntled, forgetting that think tank is behind. Above all, he has no perception of the Divine support Modiji is having, he being a Sanatani. He just lives in the past, highly self opinionated.
Less said the better about the interviewer.
Uneducated is uneducated. And the country has suffered
Swamy, a cerebral intellectual alright is a typical case of ego taking over. Kapil in usual style is trying to gaslight him into speaking rubbish against Modi and the Government. A case of utterly sour grapes for both. One got the boots from the Cong, the other got belted by the BJP, However, some of the points and concrete recommendations made by Swamy seem interesting. If Sibal is true to his job, he should try and obtain point by point rebuttal from FM Nirmala Sitaraman or the current CEA Nageswaran or even better Sanjeev Sanyal , who is member of the Economic Advisory Council of the Prime Minister. Then that would be doing justice to the seemingly mindless criticism & partisan opinions, that we hear in this podcast; largely seen as a severe case of SOUR GRAPES for both.
The rebuttal is never going to happen because this Government will not speak to anybody who might ask follow up questions.
Sanjeev Sanyal??🤣🤣🤣🤣He is a YT man. Read and watch what Nirmala Sitaraman's husband says, who by the way is a genuine economists 😅😅😅
