But the point is I don’t see the appeal of buying something as an investment and especially something as personal as a watch. It’s a difference in mentality, but when I get a watch I’m getting a companion and I’m not getting rid of it. Buying something just to look cool for two years and then selling it and bragging about it just seems ridiculous to me. If you can’t afford something, don’t buy it. If you want an investment, get dedicated investments. If you think you’ll impress someone or get attention for wearing a Rolex for two years and treating it as a means to a goal, you have probably read the “Prince” one two many times.
I had a fake Sub in 2012. Now a real Sub in 2023.
Worked hard for a decade. Saved, invested, 10x my income, passive income. And now have a real 41mm Sub 124060. It’s okay to buy a fake one if it inspires you to get the real one later in life.
When I wear the real Sub. It’s not about the Flex. It’s a reflection of the journey and the person I had to become to earn this watch. ❤

Sad that there is so little actual difference between a $500 fake Rollex and a $15,000 real Rolex. It makes you wonder which one is *more fake* …the overpriced one is, in a sense, more fake than the fake, because at least the actual fake one comes at a fair price ($500), whereas the “real” one steals $14,500 of your money
I imagine the fake has a significantly worse movement and worse/cheaper pins and plays and build quality. Nothing you’d notice flashing them side by side in a 5 second video.

The biggest tell still is how the crystal seems to absorb the light much more than the real one and not reflect it in the same way. The hands are not as nice and are way too flat, which means it also reflects light differently. Upon close examination you’ll notice the movement isn’t as silent and doesn’t wind as smoothly. Also the black ceramic is less deep of a black albeit a marginal difference. The VSF came really close but there’s still some gap to close
VSF Submariners are the best replicas. NO ONE can tell the difference even if it's standing beside a genuine. And no way can anyone tell the difference by itself on someone's wrist 5 feet away.

I'd agree. Some gray dealers say they can tell from across the room, I think that's baloney. Using a loop can make the difference but eventually the watch has to be opened. The movement hasn't been perfected yet.

The tell is where the case-bracelet meet. Authentic Rolex is fitted extremely tight to the case, which you can see in the video. The replica has minor gaping. Small but these are the fine finishes you get from Authentic. Is it worth the price or dealing with initialed AD’s or grey market dealers IDK that’s for the person spending their money to decide.

What he is referring to is the height of the crystal on the VSF which causes the outer lip of the crystal to protrude outward significantly more on the VSF. If you take a VSF sub and hold it up at eye level and do the same with the gen, notice the difference in height on the crystals. You'll see the VSF is taller. This is what he's talking about. The extra height which causes the edge of the lip to protrude causes that halo effect on the VSF. The problem is all these people that buy VSF, most of them don't have a gen to compare them to. So they are blown away by the quality and just tske everything at face value and automatically assume everythibg is identical 😂. As someone that can compare both, i can tell you right now there's a lot of differences. But you could mainly only spot them if you really know gens.

On the right side is the fake. You can see that very easy at the connection from the case to the bracelet. The problem will be serious on you. You will be more proud if you know it’s an original and not a fake. You buy this watch for yourself and not to impress friends and other people. Keep that in mind.
On the other hand your fake will look terrible after two years of wearing. So when you will sell it it will be worthless. The original got real patina and daily wearing history. You get minimum the money you invested two years before. ❤

No one should judge a person for wearing fakes. Not everyone needs to spend tens of thousands on a watch to make themselves feel good at their place in life. If anything, someone who just loves the way they look can just get a $50 fake for little 1/300th of the price and still be fulfilled with their watch, and have an extra $14950 to spend on

I adjust it ever few days but you get what you pay for. If you want a COSC movement that'll be $10k sir...

I think the one on right is authentic. At the start of the video you can see the dial perfectly like how it is at the end of the video. Also the way the light breaks on the left is different than on the right. On the left you get like sharp light lines while on the right it’s more oddly non-uniformly shaped which you see on real ones.
@sharinglungs3226 right is replica. You can tell by reading the time between the two watches. At 3:20 - 3:30, the fake watch was having stickers removed. so it makes sense around 3:40 the fake watch would be in aside by side comparison. The real rolex was a few hours behind.
visually it gets super close and without magnifying glass hard to tell.
It all ends once you hold it in your hands especially when winding the crown or rotating the bezel.
If you know how a genuine piece feels you easily spot the difference when holding in hand
Agreed, I have not hold a super clone but I'm sure something will be noticeable. It boils down to open the case and look at the movement, something will be off. A free sprung movement will be hard to replicate without compromising time keeping, I have yet to see a replica movement like this, unless of coure is a Franken watch.

I bought a high end super clone starbucks for 950 dollar and yes it looked like an authentic one. the bezel rotation was still way off to the genuine one, when rotating the crown you feel it is cheap, when holding the bracelet in your hand you feel the material isn’t as high quality just doesn’t feel right. Under magnifying glass the details looked very close even with lupe very hard to tell but again if you are familiar with the quality of an authentic sub you easily „feel“ the difference
You’d need to see it in person, possibly under the microscope, hear the bezel, etc.

Funny enough the people making the fakes could actually produce decent watches if they really wanted to. I've seen that they would even swap in genuine parts onto the fake to make it almost impossible to spot the difference.

The hands and hour markers are slightly different colors on each watch
The glass is foggy
The dial is less black it's saturated
The links arebt tight
Watch on the left is slightly bigger, watch on the right has much more shine to its bezel and dial. Clear difference in how flush the endlinks sit against the lugs. Teeth on the bezel on the watch to the right are noticeably more pointed. Another big give away for me is always the center link of the endlinks, there is always a discrepancy in the length in which it sticks out.
One on right is authentic right? I’m curious about the difference in ar coating. One on right is like flatter response while on the left it breaks in parts.

The first thing to look at is the bezel. real ones are beveled and polished. fake ones are cut on a CNC machine and you can tell

I copped mine on DHGate for $70. Personally i'd rather wear a rep because you can focus on not worrying if its going to get damage/ stolen. You robbing me? Want my watch? Crystal sits too high on the fake, and doesn’t reflect light the same way the real one does, but some people upgrade to rolex crystal. Im sure i could spot differences at close inspection, but on the wrist there is no way to know which is which.

So I guess if you never seen a real one sure
I read that an average Rolex costs just under $1k to make. The rest is marketing and hype. Have to give them credit though, they became iconic ripping people off

Yes… just live with it and it will show you it’s a fake. The time keeping, unthreading the crown, turning the bezel , working the clasp, the links and screws and the finishing. How it feels and handles will all come to light.
In United States its hard to find local dealer and all watches that I ordered from China before are not 100% same as original + it takes 2 weeks to arrive even with fast shipping option. I was looking for local dealer with basicly watches same as original
