    White vinegar is a miracle worker. I've used it in so many places I can't even keep track anymore. I mainly use white vinegar to soak rusty/grimey car parts and they pop out nearly good as new after a few days

    Vinegar is great for cleaning for sure. But instead of just spraying it on to the walls of the toilet tank or the bowl itself, after you have emptied the water as completely as possible thoroughly wet paper towels with the vinegar and adhere them to any area that you need to clean. Close the tank and the toilet lid and let it sit for at least 3 hours.
    They also make a much stronger vinegar especially for cleaning. I would wear a mask and rubber gloves to do this procedure, the stronger vinegar works GREAT, but can be caustic. Make sure the area you’re working in is well ventilated. I was so pleased with the outcome of using the “cleaning vinegar”. All the lime buildup was gone without using any abrasive stone or scouring pads. My porcelain toilet bowl was clean smooth and shiny, definitely worth the effort

    My tank had 50 times more iron on it, and there is still a hard ring around the top, but it got the rest of it pretty well. Still working on it. I read some research that says spraying your countertop with vinegar, then follow by spraying with hydrogen peroxide and it works better to kill germs than bleach. I use vinegar for cleaning but also the high strength white vinegar for weed killing (no roundup). The high strength is caustic, though, so you have to be careful with it. It works for hard water deposits, too. Excellent demo, thanks!

      . CAUTION ⚠️
      . DO NOT USE VINEGAR ON
      . GRANITE COUNTER TOPS
      Vinegar will damage granite counter tops because vinegar contains acetic acid and acetic acid is very damaging to granite counter tops , For other counter tops such as Formica and other surfaces , Follow the manufacturer's instructions because vinegar can damage other surfaces as well , If you accidentally spill vinegar on a granite counter top , Get it wiped off immediately and and rinse with clean water

      Sorry Lois Davis, the comment you made looked a little off. 🙄
      So I did a Google Search and this is what I found: 🤓
      #1~Question-Does baking soda neutralize the acid in vinegar? 🤔
      Answer~ "When baking soda is mixed with vinegar, the acid breaks down baking soda, releasing carbon dioxide gas that can help lift dirt from the surfaces being cleaned. Here are some recipes to try. Freshen your sink by mixing one part of baking soda with two parts of vinegar." 🙂
      #2~Question-Does baking soda neutralize the acid in vinegar? 🤔
      Answer~ "According to Amanda Morris, associate chair of the chemistry department at Virginia Tech University, baking soda and vinegar basically cancel each other out when they're mixed - unless you use them the right way, in the right time frame. Apr 5, 2021" 🙂

    Baking soda is sodium bicarbonate and reacts directly with acetic acid, which is what vinegar is. The result is basically then salty water. The baking soda will neutralize the acid. Better is to add the bottle of vinegar, then fill above rust line with very hot water, and just let it sit for a few hours.

    • @cliftonmcnalley8469
      @cliftonmcnalley8469 3 місяці тому

      You are completely skipping over the point of mixing the two. There is a chemical reaction that occurs as one combines with the other. That reaction is what can clean a surface or unplug a drain.

  • @edwardcasper5231
    @edwardcasper5231 2 роки тому +5

    When vinegar (an acid) and baking soda (a base/alkaline chemical) react, they cancel each other out and basically make salty water. If you want to add grit to your acid cleaning arsenal, use Bar Keepers Friend. Its main ingredient is oxalic acid. Citrus cleaners, Lime Away, CLR, muriatic acid, etc. are also acidic. Bleach, Comet, baking soda, etc. are alkaline. Each has its uses.

    Also great for descaling your kettle. Pour in quarter pint of white vinegar and a quarter pint of water. Bring to the boil and leave. The calcium will dissolve. If it doesn't bring to the boil again several times until clear. Pour away and bring to the boil a couple of times using fresh water to get rid of vinegar smell. When I cleaned my toilet I heated up the vinegar and sprayed the inside. More effective and it is biological and does not damage the environment.

    Cool trick, I have known for years to do this, it also works on floors, wood floors as long as you dilute the vinegar. I have real tile floors which does not have a high sheen glaze, it's fantastic that I can clean the tile with vinegar. Now nanolumen floors can also be cleaned with straight vinegar as long as it's not the peel and stick squares. The peel and stick squares the vinegar will seep under the square and the acid will erode the glue used to stick the squares on the floor. I have used warm water with a couple of drops of Dawn Ultra dish soap, and then rinse fully, and take a towel and dry the floor or use a fan to blow dry the floor. I use vinegar to wash out my clothes washer, I put it on the Clean Washer cycle and pour about three cups of vinegar in. BOL the first time I did this my daughter said Moma now the clothes will smell like vinegar, I told her nope, once the washer is clean, I then put it on rinse and spin pours some softener in and let it go through the cycle and then it smells very nice. I clean windows with vinegar and newspapers, for the house and the car glass. I spray my merrows and use a squeegee, for merrows that are incased in wood you want to only spray the glass, avoid the wood as much as possible. I use vinegar to clean my outside plastic tables, chairs. I also drink vinegar and water with cucumber slices in it with salt and pepper, and ice to make it cold. Vinegar works wonders with the body health wise, it also helps with weight. If you don't want to drink it they make vinegar capsules you just swallow, I do use these too, and I love the taste of the vinegar so I also make salad dressing with vinegar, either white or apple cyder vinegar works. This is my own original creation.

      Cleaning vinegar has 6% acetic acid while distilled vinegar has 5%. Both can be use for cleaning but the cleaning vinegar is 20% stronger. Cleaning vinegar should not be consumed though.

    Distilled white vinegar is great, but I use the Heinz distilled white cleaning vinegar, which is much stronger (there is even a warning on the label to remind you of this fact). Good video and I found the tip of spraying the upper level of the tank helpful. Thank you.

    I have a fairly new toilet and don't have this problem yet, but I do have an issue on the inside of the seat it gets stained. I have tried bleach but no good. It was an expensive seat but dont like the look of it even though I clean it all the time. I am on well water so that could make a difference. Any ideas to get it white again.

      If, you have a,, plugged up bathroom, sink try vinegar, &
      Baking soda.First shove baking soda, into the bathroom, sink then pour, vinegar
      Down, the drain then, your going to,get a reaction, it"s cleaning the, clog in the, pipe do this twice.
      Wait, for twenty four, hours & pour
      Boiling water, from your tea kettle
      & bye,bye clog !! If, that doesn't work, rent a snake, from Home Depot, & snake out your, main drain in, your basement depending
      May vary.

    Haha! Comment section is hilarious but it does matter about the cleanliness of the tank. A gross one can make your bathroom smell by odors seeping out, rust particles can also clog up a fill valve and affect toilet operation, and the toilet bowl will be cleaner.

      i thought i was sposed to tie my ballcock *down* and when i did it spurted out in spurts. my gf was interested in the tying up the ballcock oart, so she was watching real close, so when i tightened the string and the ballcock started spurting she ended up with a face full of spurtage, spared only by her wearing a face mask - otherwise she woulda gottena mouthful and maybe even have swallowed it. i hope my - well, really her's - experience helps ppl understand the impotence of socialist distancing exspressially when watching a ballcock get tied down real close. i dunno how this shakes out when tying your ballcock, but tying it *up* as per this guy's direction that i missed. cause i can't test it further cause she won't enter the bathroom if when i'm in there and she aks me if i'm foolin with my ballcock in there and i say yes - even if i tell her it's not going to spurt. that said, yer prolly not gonna have these problems if you secure yer ballcock properly and/or don't have a gf.
