There is finally coming a second one, i hope it gets more attention. First one is awesome, but the gameplay had still room to wish for. Nevertheless i loved every second
'You might try and ignore it, turn away. But it's always there, just out of sight. Where you're most vulnerable. It's like it knows that just enough light is all you need to see it's suffocating power.'
Just got new headphones and the bass is amazing so I thought I heard thunder had to pause the video...trippy stuff man, I love this game, neeeed it, makes you actually feel like your going insane
This is the most immersive gaming experience I have EVER had and I got it for free on Xbox Gamepass and had never even heard of it. QUALITY HEADPHONES ARE A MUST and the few days I spent playing it, I truly felt like I journeyed to another world.
I don't think I've ever been more uncomfortable playing a game than this intro sequence. The way they keep switching ears, getting closer and farther, quieter and louder. Fuck me man it felt like ASMR torture. Had me about ready to jump out of my skin.
It might be creepy but I enjoyed the audio a lot and it distracted my brain enough to fall asleep. Never thought I was much of an ASMR type of person but this is just so immersive. I bought the game as a vr bundle and looking forward to play, especially as a second part is available soon. Still so few games out there that use this extra level of immersion, hard to understand considering how long binaural has been around. Hope the VR hype brings more binaural content too.
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it! Is there a demand for more long form, commentary free gameplay videos? I'm unsure if that's something people are clamoring for. Thanks again!
DDell Me personally I enjoy more the gameplays where the host let's the viewers experience the game. Some random commentary would be fine, but not someone talking the whole time
Sadly, not many. To do it properly, it takes a lot, and I mean a LOT, of extra work. You can simulate the experience with software pretty easily, but it doesn't stand up to the proper way to do it (which Hellblade did it properly). To do it properly, you actually need a stereo microphone setup, and for the actor to move between them. You record both microphones at the same time, one on each side of the actor, and as the actor moves between them, they pick up the audio differently. I'm not exactly sure how they translate that into "regular" audio we hear in this UA-cam video or the game itself, but it's not an easy process start to finish, which is why it's not used very often at all.
@@DDell1 That's because it IS regular audio. The 3D effect comes from the sound bouncing on the dummy ears like it bounces on real human ears. The reason why it's hard to implement on other games is because in most games you can move the camera around so the audio could come from any direction to the player's perspective. That can only be achieved with software simulation. This game's "whispers" come from the same direction regardless of where you move the camera so that's why they can use real binaural audio for it.
Very cool effect, but I couldn't play this game. Voices whispering in my ears every damn second would drive me crazy. I was hoping for better examples of ambient sounds.
Senua suffers from schizophrenia so the creators wanted the players to experience what an actual schizophrenic person hears on a daily basis. I can see how it could be unnerving for some people though.
I agree. While my AKG HSD271 headset at a lower volume sound amazing with this, a game like this I would probably prefer my Sennheiser HD559 headphones for something like this because they're entirely open, so sounds don't get trapped in the cups and I can have them slightly louder.
It runs at 60fps for the majority of the video, but my apologies for not having a Titan X so I can record video for you to watch for free on my UA-cam channel that doesn't make money. I'll be sure to fix that in the future ;)
3 years and I still think this game didn't get the attention it deserved. Just a Goddamn Masterpiece!
Why not? It has 90% positive on Steam

probably the best game ive ever had the pleasure of experiencing. ad ive played a shit ton
This game was definitely ahead of its time. And Hellblade2 with Unreal Engine 5 made another milestone in Video Game Scene. Another masterpiece!

Thank you for not speaking over it. I wanted to show my dad the binaural audio without competing with an LPer.
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!
Oh man, the combat is so meaty. Everything about this game looks great.
I've never seen such a beautiful openning in any video game.
Omg her voice is so soothing
Who else got the chills
Me and the voices in my head all did

Hearing this on a very good set of surround sound headphones is amazing. Listening to it using Shokz is a whole different experience.

pretty amazing, it's really surreal and cozy-scary. thank you for this binaural experience
Cozy scary? That's an interesing combination.
Thanks for this! I'm testing out the LiveAudio filter in the discontinued mini jambox. This technology is new and will integrate nicely into AR. :-)

This is one example why HB is amongst the best games I've experienced.
Great video.
Listening with my AKG 712pro.
Going be buying this game.
Gives me chills
Many many many thanks
Imagine the tempest engine on the ps5 taking this kind of audio to crazy levels
try to just listen to think in the dark laying down freaky
One my favourite games ever.
Thank you. No offense to jacksepticeye but it's hard to hear the audio in his vids. His voice drowns out the game. So again THANK YOU

Прикольно, что наконец это появилось в играх )) Музыку с этим эффектом слушаю уже 2 года, вау эффекта уже нет, просто "так и должно быть" ))
nice gameplay im recording this game too
❤❤❤❤❤
I actually looked behind me
Oh man it sounds amazing. How many games have binaural audio? I know about OpenAL and similar things thiugh

my ears feel violated
Meu headset passou no teste hehe
3:21 freaked me the fuck out
BRO HAHAHAHA THIS FEELS WEIIIRD
Это блин круто
how do i came here , well by searching by binaural audio
Binaural, again, not used to its full potential. I mean. Yes. This game is about mental health. But is binaural just always going to be ear whispers?
no. some binaura audio videos like the barber shop one make the sound feel like it is coming from someone standing in the room your in.
To do all the sounds binaurally would have been far too much of an undertaking for such a small studio.
ACE112ACE112 exactly. We need more of those. But @NewFormoSilence has a point.
If you are talking about the game, no. It is not just whispers, you can hear a lot of things like Enemies, Thunders, water, fire, etc.
That's only possible for a game with a fixed perspective, where the audio sources can't be changed of position by the player's camera/movement
Does it sound this way in PS4 too?
Yup, there is an option to turn on binaural audio
Very cool effect, but I couldn't play this game. Voices whispering in my ears every damn second would drive me crazy. I was hoping for better examples of ambient sounds.
Isn't that kind of the point?
That's the point sergeant

Its not annoying, it’s actually kinda cool how they tell the story through schizophrenia and her struggles
i do not prefer noise cancelling headphones. semi open cans in a quite room is more immersive.
I dunno these Sony xm3s with anc on make it feel like you're isolated from the real world and loving in this one
hercules71185 I regret trading them in for the wf versions but gah I wanted them more portable

She kinda looks like the female jormungandr
Nice ASMR. I just don't understand why there's no half naked chick on the screen, something that is always linked to anything ASMR related.
@m n n
Was this game running on a 12 year old gpu, why is is so stuttery?
