I watched American bandstanding the '70s too I love that music Still I passed it on to my son my daughter didn't pick up on it too well but I used to love the dance competitions and seeing all the bands and Dick Clark was just awesome
@@michael-dy8tz It didn’t take much to get on the show. We went on Saturday mornings and they would tape three shows in succession. Dick Clark was cool and we got to see some neat entertainers. Living in the Los Angeles area, well these were things we did, if not at the beach.
@@24Mossberg Yeah, I read they were looking for lots of teenagers, sometimes I wish I would have lived there back in the 60s when things were cool and times were good, that is exciting that you were on TV and on American Bandstand. I'm a professional guitarist and singer, too old now to get on a show but I'm curious, did the bands on there lipsync, pretend to play, it's OK and a common practice because they use the studio sound on TV, it sounds better, so did they lipsync and when you were dancing did you know the band wasn't playing and you were dancing to a recorded track?
@@24Mossberg Thanks Mossberg, I figured but it must be that way but it was good you actually saw and maybe met the bands. Lucky you. Thanks for the reply!
All of your great bandstand videos bring back wonderful memories! Thank you so much for sharing each one with all of us and I'm always checking back for the next new posted video! Keep up the great work!!!
Another song I dont remember. But I dont mind because it is very cool and now I will have a brand new song ( to me) to listen to from the best era of music. Loved watching the dancers also.
Loved seeing Famous Hooks and Don. Thanks Aaron for This Clip and THANK YOU for All your videos. Can't believe Summer is Almost Gone 😢. I watched AB in the 60's and 70's until about '77-'78. Glad you posted this and hoping to hear from you soon 🤠😎❤️
Annah Shoffner , i'm giving you a thumbs up .You always have something nice to say. The Sweetheart of ToiT. Yes i'm closing my pool in a week to all 8 grand kids.Have a great rest of summer.
@@gregmoore7709 I remember those days when Dad would remind us that Labor Day Weekend was the last time the pool would be open for the year. And would reopen Memorial Day weekend of the next year 🥺 😢. Hoping you & grandkids enjoy these last days of Summer. Thanks again for the kind words 🤠😎👍🏽
It’s always nice to hear new “oldies” lol. Keep up the good work on your @Times Past Television channel. I’m really enjoying those rare programs. Thank you Andrew
I turned 15 in '68. "Incense and Peppermints" hit number one the year before. Huge hit. I don't remember this track. I guess Clark was talking of this record being the third for the 'producers'. It was the second record for SAC. This one only got to 23 on Billboard.
VH1 dug up an episode from September 1967 featuring Van Morrison as part of their second annual Best Of AB Marathon. The following week would have featured the Strawberry Alarm Clock, but I doubt they performed that song.
I think the TV Show: "Laugh-In" played this SAC hit, with its video, on it's first episode in 1968. They (the band members) were driving their cars on a L.A. interstate and got into mischief, or something like that, as l remember. (This is Tom, not Sandra.)
A great song... This version is just a tad bit different then the one played on the radio and I think that the one Played on radio was just a little better then this one.
It’s a good question that comes up frequently. Episodes were taped in color starting on Sept. 1967. Due to the expense of the color tapes, they taped over most of them. Fortunately we at least have some of these kinescopes filmed in b&w.
Actually, the lyrics were 'and buildings to the sky... that make us want to fly' People who took LSD thought they COULD fly by diving off tall buildings thinking they were going to fly.
In the 70s I watched American bandstand every Saturday morning 🌞
I'm from Philadelphia. We watched it every afternoon.
Remember spinning "Tomorrow" on my college station's oldies show. Great tune that should have been a bigger hit.
A fabulous time to be a young person - cars, clothes, and music were the best - I was 19 in 1968.
well my goodness! I spotted my regulars. I'll be darned if I've ever heard this song, but way to go Aaron!!!
Great to hear something other than Incense and Peppermint from the Alarm Clock! ❤
First band I ever saw live, and they opened with this song.
I miss watching American band stand thank you for these videos I enjoy them

I don't remember this song. Thank You Aaron for another great video. Good Saturday to everyone.
I was on American Bandstand in Hollywood before my year in Vietnam 1967-68. Nothing the same after that. Thank you for providing the videos!
What was it like @24Mossberg. Very interesting.

A quickie but goody Aaron.A lot of familiar faces. Thank you sir and have a great day as my summer is coming to an end....
TOP I Love music!👏👏👏😍
great song! I love the classic black and white! I didn't know they had any other hits!
Great post and great song by The SAC.......it's my favorite by them.
Me too Gary. It may have been a just little ahead of its time, maybe, to not crack the top 20.

who didn't and still love bubblegum pop along with the always enjoyable bonus of A.B. backdrop. thanks for the post and the trip back in time!!
Not bubblegum
Jon Walmsley (Jason on "The Waltons") was a member of SAC 1984-1986.
This is actually another good song by this group. Too bad my area (DC) didn't play it at all in any rotation. First time hearing it.
Air date? Just about everyone from the AB 68 crowd was featured in this clip. Tons of fun. Great job Aaron! Good to see a post from you.
Yikes! I forgot to paste it from an earlier edit. Thank you Don! 😅

Famous Hooks!!!
These people were VERY restrained.
The gal @ 1:13 also appears on the 1968 show where "Love Is Blue" is featured.
Does anyone have the name of the young lady dancing with Famous Hooks?
The girls were so cute. Of course they’re old grannies now. But doubtlessly still lovable 😮😂👀

Este programa era como el Show de ed Sullivan?
'and buildings to the sky... that make us wonder why'. I suspected that may have been a lame lyric even in 1968.
