Ok i have a few questions? 1) Can you wire it up so you are able to start off the 2nd battery should the primary battery go flat? 2) When solar is connected , will it shut off the primary battery ( When parked) So it doesnt drain the battery 3) How much voltage drop would be expected running power to rear for fridge , as opposed to locating a DCDC in the rear of Prado? appreciate your help

Hi chris, the bcdc charger can’t act as a jump start mate but you can setup a jump start system over top of it. The bcdc will isolate the aux battery from the main battery when camping and having solar connected. The solar will only charge the aux battery. Voltage drop is all dependant on cable size. So use the right cable size and you won’t have voltage drop. Hope that helps a bit mate.

Hi mate, Looks like a good kit. Just wondering what size cable you have running between the batteries. Ive been told by a auto elec it needs to be 6 b&s minimum with a 100 amp fuse. Cheers.

Hi mate. I think your auto elec might be referring to a sbi or solonoid style dual battery system as 100amps is way to big of a fuse for an 25amp dcdc charger. Redarc recommend 40amp midi fuses so that’s what we use. Cheers kurt

@@AussieDrifterTouring Yeah i think you may be right. I'm still learning which is why I am looking at this pre made kit. I like how you can just plug a solar panel straight into the redarc. I dont have a smart alternator so is there any other reason to choose this over say a VSR type system? Cheers.

@@buzza81 no worries mate. the bcdc looks after a deep cycle battery alot better than a solonoid dual battery kit. As they allow the alternator to charge the battery direct and link the 2 batteries together which means both batteries are always getting the same voltage. We’re as a dcdc monitors the aux battery and changes the voltage to suit it state of charge. So when the battery is flat it will allow a high voltage to go to the battery were as when the battery is full it will drop the voltage right back and allow it to be maintained for the rest of the journey. Which Is far better for your aux deep cycle battery.

Hi bud very nice.about to purchase this off ebay. Is it easy to swap out the fuse size later if need be? Or does it need to be rewired? Cheers

Hey mate. The fuses are the right size for the 25amp charger so I wouldn’t recommend changing them to a different size but it is easy to change them when needed. Also I’d recommend going to our website to purchase as they are a bit cheaper too mate. Cheers kurt
