Hoffman passed away on my birthday. To this day whenever I'm watching a movie i think, "Philip would have nailed this part." Colossal talent and deeply missed.
HIS RANGE IS OUTSTANDING, EACH SCENE HE’S A DIFFERENT PERSON. God I miss him.
"I'd like to take a moment to review the several ways in which you're a douchebag." What a legend.
I think what makes PSH so great, on top of his emotional and intense scenes, are the times he patiently listens and reacts to the other person without a word.
Joaquin and PSH-Two of the greatest actors in this scene.
And two of the greatest actors of all time
Would anybody object if I say that PSH is possibly the greatest actor of all time, if there is such a man?
albanymike nope
albanymike - Not at all. I would agree. He’s def in the running for the top 3 of all time.
PSH along with Willem Dafoe can be considered to be the greatest American thespians of all time, and it's not even a matter of doubt.
Your neighborhood friend I like Defoe, but he does not have near the range that PSH has. He’s great at a few things, but PSH can do it all. Imagine Defoe in all the roles featured in this video-he couldn’t do it.
@@colinwoods9601 Oh I think you haven't explored Dafoe's work enough. I think he's easily comparable to PSH. His emotional range and versatility is far greater than most people think. Mostly people just know from his villainous and maniacal roles. But, he's played everything to the point of being unrecognisable from one film to another.
FSH made Lester Bangs seem likeable, now that is an accomplishment!
PSH and Heath Ledger were my 2 favorite actors and they are both gone. RIP.
One of the greatest actors in American History and not because he is dead he was brilliant character actor more so than the rest
This man is a legend, and fort me will be forever remembered, an amazing incredible actor took far too soon. This tribute is a masterpiece.
From the man that brought us the word shart.
My favorite actor of all time
For me, The Master is his masterpiece... Him along side Phoenix challenge acting history... Could be the best acted film in history.
nah
@@33bigmoney nope it’s definitely the best acted film ever
and there's not a better example a technically perfect film that is nearly unwatchable. which was the intent from what I could tell.
I love he movie but I’d have to go for The Godfather
Brando, Pacino, Duvall, Casals, Keaton, Caan..... everyone is just top class
@@randywhite3947
Godfather 1 is imo
But this is up there
acting for this man was so natural as we breathe air.
Part of what I think makes PSH such a notable presence on screen is despite the fact a he’s a master of the art of acting, he doesn’t look like an actor. He’s not particularly good looking like a young Al Pacino or seemingly experienced and mature like Clint Eastwood, he just looks like a guy. But he’s so talented and precise with all his inflections and expressions that he becomes a real person. He bridges the gap between what we see as an actor and what’s the reality of some guy who works down the hall at your job.
This guy was an outstanding actor and will be truly missed.
He was a genius... phenomenal mind!
One of the greatest to ever do it.
his work in big lebowski was really underrated
Honorable mention roles in: the Talented Mr.Ripley, Moneyball, and The Big Lebowski
Cold Mountain... the greasy dirtball he plays in that, tremendous.
I fell in love with Philip Seymour Hoffman in this movie!
A complex genius.
There is no such thing as a simple genius.
The man is gone, but his genius will live on forever.
stop calling actors genius.......... they play make believe not curing cancer. stop being a tool
@@buildinit6523 Totally agreed, the whole hype around actors is so overwhelmingly undeserving.
Genius at his craft definitely
Miss his brilliance. RIP Mr. Hoffman
What a fucking legend. Gone too soon, man.
Quite simply the most versatile, palpable actor of the last 30 years, his confluence of drama and humor are the ne plus ultra!!!
I think he was one of greatest actor . I'm a still big fan of PSH. He's a genius.
Creative brilliance can sometimes be the product of a troubled foundation. I wish for all creatives it is dealt with lovingly. Peace, and may you continue to produce passionately.
Thank you so much for making this. This is exactly what I’ve wanted to see for a while, such an excellent collection. My dad got to see PSH doing Death of a Salesman in NYC. Will always be jealous of that. We miss you Phil.
My sister told me about Hoffman and how phenomenal his acting was. I imagine how many other great films there would be had he been with us longer. I think "Flawless" was an incredible movie.
Amazing actor taken waaay too soon. He was convincing in EVERYTHING he did. If any of you on here haven't seen: Before the devil knows youre dead, I highly recommend it; one of his best performances imo
I just now told that to my son. If I had to choose my favorite film of his, it would be that one. Magnolia? Doubt? Man it's just too hard to pick!
Was great in Charlie Wilson's War, also imo was the best villain in the mission impossible movies
@@Jimmyjamsays.... He was unreal in everything he was ever in. From his very first minor part, to Capote. And then some!
@@dianahohimer1107 Never seen Capote, just didn't look that appealing. Was it good? Still gotta watch the master, haven't seen that one either
@@Jimmyjamsays.... Capote is a masterpiece. I'm old enough to vaguely remember Capote, and it wasn't like a movie. It was more of a transformation. Master i have seen once or twice. Imo, he was fantastic as always but I just really didn't like it. You might want to read the back story on the film. Has to do with RL Ron Hubbard, the Scientologist. My sons favorite PSH.
The irony of his speech in Almost Famous, because he was that uncool guy who was the consummate artist. I remember being repulsed by some of his characters, before realizing that...THAT was the POINT 😂
I was impressed by his play in the ides of march. even though the role was not big, he was so convincing and so real. soooo frightening great
The best. We all miss you Phillip.,
I never really understood "commanding the screen" until I became aware of PSH. And him in MI3 might have been it.
BRILLIANT
Great job on the video editing! IMHO he was the greatest, most versatile actor since Brando.
Brando isn't even the most versatile American actor let alone actors in general.
He played himself throughout his career, but the sole reason he is so highly celebrated is because of his contribution to realistic and believable acting.
PSH and PTA = poetry
I miss him so so much..
Revisiting each and each shot again and again..
We just see the tip of the iceberg..
Miss him so much
Cry and cracking scene in "Before The Devil Knows You're Dead", I'm relaly missing that one here.
Charlie Wilson’s War he was hilarious; I would have loved to have seen him in more comedic roles
Along came Polly is a good one.
Needed to have Along Came Polly scenes. To show how truly deep his acting was. He was fucking hilarious in that movie.
And the best part of that movie!
Brilliant fucking delivery. Man delivered like DiGornos. May he rest in knowing he made the rest of us marvel.
I think he was a bit better than a fucking pizza lol no offense
also, dominos may have been a better example for this one, since it's not delivery, it's digiorno's.
This was beautifully edited
Nicely done. Philip made it exciting to watch movies again always anticipating his next performance. Whatever the character and whatever the story, he brought it home and touched your soul with it. A very small number of people in the history of film have been able to accomplish this. May he rest in peace with the Gods and may you be richly blessed for sharing this with us. Thank you.
He was a Great villian in MI3
Flawless and liove Liza were brilliant performances left out imagine if he had played the penguin
Such a loss of a huge talent. I makes me sad that PSH isn't here anymore.
It was so great that this year during the pandemic when we all faced some kind of emotional fear and there were multiple streaming services of his movies. TY for this fabulous compilation.
Great tribute to the great man.
An elegant video commentary on a sublime actor who exited far too early, never to play future challenges so that he could expand US cinema beyond overpriced entertainment, to real... art.
This is a great compilation. Thank you.
Such a phenomenal talent who didn't live long enough
exceptional actor!
We'll see said the Zen master.
thank you sooo much for this
What a Talented man ❤ Genuine, diverse, really the list goes on and on!! Thank you for your time uploading and sharing the Beautiful work of an incredible man!🌺
I can’t understand why this doesn’t have more views. Fuck everybody is right. But thank you for making and posting this.
Thank you so much,
Great tribute, well done!
Well done!
i just wanna fuckin cry
He was so so good
There have been so many truly gifted actors that it’s pretty impossible to pare down to a short list…
To start off my personal Mount Rushmore of Greatest Actors: DDL, PSH, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Sean Penn, Christian Bale, Spencer Tracy & Morgan Freeman.
And I anticipate these future additions: Oscar Isaac, Mahershala Ali, Joaquin Phoenix, Paul Giamatti, Javier Bardem, Courtney Vance, possibly Sterling K. Brown, possibly Benicio del Toro.
Happiness is a great movie he is in. And best performance in that movie if you ask me^^
WOW!! He called her everything but a BOLO!
He stole every scene he was in, including stealing scenes from The Dude. If you want to see unbelievable range follow him playing spoiled preppie in Scent of a Woman, to a gay, confused simpleton in Boogie Nights, to a been-there, done that music critic in Almost Famous, to a male nurse loving a flawed man in Magnolia, to a witty, sardonic playboy in The Talented Mr. Ripley, to playing a perfect, dry, vulnerable Truman Capote. His career was far more reaching than that, but those movies are all you need to realize he was the best actor we had. He was stolen from all of us.
great actor! rip
Rest in Peace!
warning: video contains spoilers to very good films
Mason Brown There is no such thing as "spoilers" to very good films. Very good films transcend "spoilers."
Professor Polymath Nah. That ain't true. Unless the story is like 75+ years old (like ancient mythology or very old and popular films that you already should know about)
Fight Club was a very great film but it would've been a lot less interesting and entertaining if I knew Brad Pitt and Edward Norton were the same person the whole time. Same goes for tons and tons of films.
@@loganwendt778 I guess the book written by Chuck Palanhiuk was one big fat spoiler then?
@@loganwendt778 What? THey are the same person? Goddamn it I was going to watch it next week and you spoiled it to me.
Te amo
It seems to me Seymour grew up with his roles… and with the contacts to great actors, which seemed to be his mentors: he actually changed his pronounciation up to his role … and suddenly I thought David Huddleston is complaining about bumps (13:00). Those are characteristics a good actor is made of!
"It's the wonders of nature, baby!"
Missing an Idol.
i love all these but his performance in the big lebowski should’ve been here, it’s pretty under appreciated and different compared to these
Nope and I miss him.
When it comes to art I'll take an addict over a normie every single time. RIP PSH
Hoffman was on par with the great Marlon Brando
he was always kind of crazy
QPhoenix PSH HDL 3 BEST ACTORS ALIVE 2 ARE DEAD BUT THEY SILL BEST
Hdl ?
Doubt.
No Hard Eight?
No clips from “My boyfriends Back” or “Twister” or “Leap of Faith”
"PIG F**K!".
What was the movie at the end?
Synecdoche, New York. I put the names of each movie in the description box too.
Synecdoche they filmed a small part in my neighborhood in the Bronx
Who the fuck is that one person who downvoted? You're dead inside.
Poor Tom Cruise. He has no business acting across from PSH.
Don't forget The Ides of March. I hope that heroin shot was worth it, because it cost everyone a lot.
Where the fuck is twister
I think I know why he committed that terrible act. I would not even contemplate such a thing myself. Some people think they are playing games, but the ramifications are sometimes terrible beyond belief.
2:03 Yes you are for ODing on heroin.
Timothy fuck u
Funny guy
quitter
Adam Sandler might be the worst actor of all time
