I think he was beyond,I hope you found the light, that light, that, somehow gets gobbeled up,in less than a second when we addicts drop the torch of hope.what a special man he seemed to be.
Never noticed how many films he worked with Amy Adams in. This list is a bit off, but PSH is definitely one of the best actors ever. His character in Happiness was particularly entertaining.
He embodies the man that we all are but none of us want to be. He makes you look at yourself in the mirror and learn how to live with who your across his broad range of roles
It's impossible to keep it to only 10! The Master is brilliant. Owning Mahowny, Love Liza, The Savages, Synechdoche NY, Flawless, A Most Wanted Man, Hard Eight, Magnolia, Moneyball, God's Pocket, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Patch Adams, Scent of a Woman, Red Dragon, Punch Drunk Love, The Ides of March. He is so missed.
I’m a total movie nerd..I’ve seen 100’0s of films..there are a lot of good actors out there, there have been a ton of great actors through the ages..I really believe that Philip Seymour Hoffman is at the top of the pile..phenomenal actor..the best of the best..
Amazing! Thank you. And, also, just amazing 'cause it's PSH, period. Nuance!!!!! . . . And, just gotta say, all around, 25th Hour is all around, everyone in it, everything about it, incredible movie making/viewing . . .
He was right on mark playing Freddy. He showed us that somewhat innocent intimacy that goes on between two straight, very preppy, young men. (I.e., between him & Dicky.)
I find this list strangely missing a lot of his best work, especially Synecdoche. But many of his small indie movies were better than MI3 or along came.poly
I met a few times and he was quite and very nice. At the time I just thought he was another member of my group even though I saw his movies. Different in real life.
@@mrugod haha!! Too dark for my taste, reading the Wikipedia plot description was enough to make me sick to my stomach. I heard it was a great performance though
One of his most memorable performances was in The Talented Mr Ripley as the overwhelmingly self assured, over privileged and disdainful rich boy whom Ripley kills with a marble bust.
I heard Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead was good. Rented it to watch with my parents. Movie begins with fat wheezing Hoffman doing Marisa Tomei doggystyle
Actually, his best performance isn't even on the list (which is saying something, given what a list it is!) Have a look at Owning Mahoney, in which PSH plays a compulsive gambler ....
Oh my god this incredible talent we rarely, rarely get.
Philip was the real deal. He was an actor first, a star second.
Superbly stated
Capote, Doubt, and Flawless were my favorites. I so miss him. He played each role perfectly.
I'd have to put his "the master" performance as one of the front runners for sure
Pirate Radio and talented mr Ripley, almost famous I loved him in. Can’t forget the big Lebowski
his name is Lebowski? that's your name dude
We all miss him. I don’t agree with the list, but it is fine enough for missing him. Thanks.
He did so much good work...may have been hard to edit it down..
IMO the greatest actor there ever was.
I miss him as an actor, but feel sorry as a human being for the pain he must of carried for being an addict. I’m 8.5 years sober
THE VERY FINEST ACTOR IN MY ENTIRE LIFETIME. -------------RIP--------------------------------WolfSky9, 74 y/o
I LOVED PSH in " Almost Famous " ---------------he was just sooooo great. -----------------------WolfSky9, 74 y/o
I think he was beyond,I hope you found the light, that light, that, somehow gets gobbeled up,in less than a second when we addicts drop the torch of hope.what a special man he seemed to be.
mr. Hoffman was one of our best actors too bad we find out after his death of his greatness ,R I P where ever you are!!!!!
Never noticed how many films he worked with Amy Adams in. This list is a bit off, but PSH is definitely one of the best actors ever. His character in Happiness was particularly entertaining.
Drugs or a double edge sword.
He embodies the man that we all are but none of us want to be. He makes you look at yourself in the mirror and learn how to live with who your across his broad range of roles
Well said!!!
Perfectly put 🖤
Before the Devil Knows you’re Dead is so underrated
Boogie Nights and The Talented Mr Ripley
The should be another word for awesome and he would still exceed that!
RIP Mr Phillip Seymour Hoffman 😢❤

His cameo in Hard Eight is also mind-blowingly good. In less than 3 minutes he almost steals the entire film.
Legit
Would been greatest actor of all time he is a true legend what a loss

I don't agree with the list but it's still a good one.
"The Talented Mr. Ripley."
Yessss!!! As Freddie
"Tommy! How's the peeping?"
He was right on mark playing Freddy. He showed us that somewhat innocent intimacy that goes on between two straight, very preppy, young men. (I.e., between him & Dicky.)
Just commands the screen whenever he's on it! Absolutely remarkable talent!!! Rip!
Freddy from The Talented Mr. Ripley was my favorite of many!!
How did owning Mahoney not make the list
That was such a good film and he was so very brilliant.
Never seen an actor make every role his new greatest role no matter what he was doing. The best ever
How you missed him in "Flawless" is beyond me!
I find this list strangely missing a lot of his best work, especially Synecdoche. But many of his small indie movies were better than MI3 or along came.poly
Enjoyed all of his movies
Im stoked thay sandy lyle is on this!!!
Capote may be his best. Let’s all aspire to both
i wish he had been in something with jack black
He reminded me of Jack Black in those scenes from Along Came Polly and Almost Famous.
Freddie Miles, such a loss, RIP
He would have played a great Teddy Roosevelt… rip
Synechdoche, New York?
25th Hour is an underrated movie. That and Summer of Sam were the only two films by Spike Lee that weren't blackcentric and they were both superb.
Sumner of Sam fantastic movie
Why not still watch and enjoy a movie that is black centric? You don’t have to see yourself in order to enjoy art.
For the next 100 years plus young people will watch PSH and say to themselves "I want to be an actor".
PSH born with "bad hair", but turns bad hair into an asset. His hair always seems to be its own character.
I met a few times and he was quite and very nice. At the time I just thought he was another member of my group even though I saw his movies. Different in real life.
All of them
Can you please tell us about the music played at the end of this video during the credits???
Happiness
Flawless was his best performance
Happiness? anyone????
@@mrugod haha!! Too dark for my taste, reading the Wikipedia plot description was enough to make me sick to my stomach.
I heard it was a great performance though
@@Thepilotepisode it’s actually a really good movie, aside from “those” scenes.
... and Jack goes boating (Jack in love).....
What's going on with Amy Adams face during that scene with Hanks
PSH was quite talented a wide variety of persona.
Owning Mahoney? Magnolia? Psssht
Yes magnolia
I liked him as Dusty in TWISTER 🌪️
PSH should've played DFW.
The Big Lebowski.
One of his most memorable performances was in The Talented Mr Ripley as the overwhelmingly self assured, over privileged and disdainful rich boy whom Ripley kills with a marble bust.
Owning Mahoney - not so well known but amazing
Ha ha! He describing their parents store!
Magnolia.....derrrr!
I didn't see that Spike Lee movie.
But then, nobody did.
👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
That's a thick door 😅
No Scotty from boogie nights??
Yes it’s listed. He’s in the car crying.
Love Liza is an acting tour de force.
I heard Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead was good. Rented it to watch with my parents. Movie begins with fat wheezing Hoffman doing Marisa Tomei doggystyle
Mattress Man
Church scene was amazing story
Actually, his best performance isn't even on the list (which is saying something, given what a list it is!) Have a look at Owning Mahoney, in which PSH plays a compulsive gambler ....
If only he laid off the drugs..
He wouldn't have been the same actor if he did
Time for a
Im a ducking idiot
Ehh…
No Happiness? Gtfo
The Master was such a great cast Seymour Hoffman, Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams
It's probably the only movie of his that I didn't really care for, but his acting was phenomenal as always.
9:04 The way his hand continues tremble slightly
