Well, if you are in Ontario and the LCBO is out, I'm not sure. Many of my friends seem to be able to order from Alberta. Have you tried zyn.ca? Great prices and they certainly have stock on Buffalo Trace!
Thanks! Rye is a bit like peat I think. If you like it, or develop a taste for it, there is lots to explore. But for some, it is just not pleasant. Are you going to share your list?
My nr. 1 value whisky to go back to is Talisker 10. Here in Switzerland, it is one of the cheaper single malts and you can easily get it in most supermarkets. I also regularly go back to Dalwhinnie 15 and Lagavulin 16 - both are available in supermarkets too and I usually buy them without hesitation whenever they are on sale. My next pick is Balvenie 12 (although a bit more expensive)... and my last one is a bit more exclusive, but widely available for a reasonable price in liquor stores around Switzerland - "Kilchoman: Machir Bay". This probably has been my favorite peated whisky for the last couple of years. As you see: only single malts in my list. That's not because I reject bourbons or ryes, but I didn't really got into yet (although I liked what I had so far :-) )
Great list. I enjoy all of those releases. They are a little more expensive here, but not unreasonable yet! What do you think of Kilchoman Sanig? I enjoy it a fair amount too. Thanks for sharing!
@@WhiskyNeighbour Unfortunately, I couldn't try it yet. I bought very few bottles during the last few years, but I'm now getting a bit more back into it... Sanig is definitely high on my list.
@@WhiskyNeighbour i am new on your channel, new neighbour, hehe! I used to show some resistance in tasting bourbon, a little hesitation due to the great amount of corn which makes it to sweet to my nose and palate; but gradually, i am beating that resistance, getting used to Bourbon, and really enjoying it, especially the spiciest ones. Thank you for instigating my curiosity!
@@TheMarciolima1967 thanks for sharing a bit of your journey! I think it is excellent to take time and consider new styles. Good to hear you discovering good flavours now in Bourbon! Cheers.
Nicely done. These are all bottles I've bought, and I especially favor buffalo trace (and old weller antique 107, which I think I caught a glimpse of in the video) for bourbon and Laphroaig QC for scotch... The QC a was the first single malt scotch whisky I ever tasted, and it was love at first dram... and buffalo trace is the bourbon I've bought most (outside of Booker's, which is now obscenely expensive and not an option)... I do enjoy the magic trick of highland park 12, turning heather into smoke. haven't been able to track down a bottle of lot 40 here in Japan, though it's been on my radar for quite a while now. any suggestions on how to get a hold of it?
@@WhiskyNeighbour I'm new to whisky well drinking it neat that is. Ive only purchased 1 bottle of bourbon so far abd it was Buffalo Trace. I enjoyed it a lot. I've been meaning to pick up a few more bourbons but haven't gotten around to it yet. Any suggestions?
Lots :) You could try a "Wheater" so something like W.L Weller or Maker's Mark. Or you could try Elijah Craig. I love the 12 year. I find it richer, both on the nose with more deep fruit and on the palate with a little more spice. Bulleit is a lot spicier; I like it, but it might put you off. A couple there to think about!
Good list Jon. Of that list I often go back to Highland Park and Knob Creek. Don't know if they're my regular go back to whiskies but I've definitely bought a few bottles of each. As for the Lot 40, I haven't had it much, but I'm starting to enjoy just about anything from the Corby line. I think it (or one of it's siblings) will soon become a go back to.
@@WhiskyNeighbour even though I don't have the same go-to whiskies, the kind of whiskies on your list are similar to mine. Instead of Buffalo I go for a bottle of Woodford. Both high rye bourbon (I think?). Eagle Rare is another I've had a few times. My Canadian go-to for a long time was anything Forty Creek. I've recently stopped buying barrel select though. Just had too much of it. I'll still get the occasional Copper Pot. And that's why I'm trying Corby's stuff. Gooderham and Worts Four Grain being my current favourite. As for scotch, I will maybe buy 1-3 bottles a year and generally will base my decision on $$ (IMO it's too expensive for what it is). I like just about any Highland distillery (e.g. Highland Park 12) or sherry cask Speyside (e.g. Aberlour 10). I am not a big fan of overally peated like laphroaig though. Thanks for taking the time to respond.
@@robertboileau9401 Thanks for sharing. Eagle Rare is very nice, but priced just outside my "regular" purchase! I am starting to agree with you about Scotch. I have several bottles I really enjoy, but in general they cost so much and the average price seems to continue to climb.
Hey whisky neighbour. John from Scotland. Good choices. Mine are : Deanston 12, Arran 10, Glenfarclas 12, Rock Town single barrel reserve, Highland park 12.
@@WhiskyNeighbour Yes it is and often overlooked. In its price category here in the UK, as a quality Speyside it is in my opinion unparalleled; Glenfarclas, Macallan and Balvennie all running significantly more. I am totally with you on the Highland park 12, I always have a bottle or two on hand. I have spent a lot of time in Toronto and am a big fan of a lot of Crown's offerings. Also tried the Wayne Gretsky which was pleasant if a little lacking in flavour and one from Gooderham & Worts which was lovely. I am also in the States a lot and affordable quality bourbon is so available, I have many favourites. I am from Wales and only 20 miles away from our major Whisky distillery: Penderyn , have you tried any of their whiskys?
@@matthewtilleybassbaritone Excellent! A great friend of mine over here is a proud Welshman. I have had Penderyn, but it was a few years back. I should try them again. Take care.
Great picks, Jon! I’ve gone through many bottles of Highland Park 12 and Laphroaig Quarter Cask as well! Lot 40 is new to me, but the bottle isn’t surviving long (lots of sharing), and Knob Creek is one of my favourite Bourbons I’ve had a couple bottles of as well.
Thanks. I think the combination of price and full flavour make whisky like this just easy to pour and share. It sounds like several of our tastes overlap! Cheers!
Great List! Have you had the Laphroaig Cairdeas 2017? I ask because it is Cask Strength Quarter Cask, and as someone who prefers the Laphroaig QC to the 10 year as well it was a must have (with extra bottles because it was a yearly release) on my shelf for as long as it lasts. Cheers! 🥃
Message me an address Keith. I don't know when, but I would love to send you some good Canaduan Whisky to try! We could even do a Hangout or something together over the dram!
Not gonna argue with the lineup Jon. Wouldn’t be neighbourly now, would it? Happy to see Lot40 topping off the list. Interesting to see the five are all very flavorful, punchy, big hitter styles. I find I sometimes have a hankering for something less bold and look to a Glenmorangie Original 10 or such. And I couldn’t help notice the Redbreast 12 year old on the shelf begging to be picked for the team. Cheers!
Thanks for dropping in. The Redbreast 12 Caskstrength is fantastic, and definitely a favorite. It is a little pricey to make this list, at least where I am. You nailed my flavour bias. Big and Bold. Still, I certainly enjoy Glenmorangie 10, and often recommend it when I don't know the person well. Caskstrength or peated can put people off fast! What would your top 5 regular whiskies be?
Whisky Neighbour alas, I’ve not had the opportunity to try the cask strength Redbreast or Lot40 for that matter - woe is me. Had a hand on the bottle neck of Redbreast 12 CS at Christmas at my local LCBO but, didn’t/couldn’t pull the trigger. Next time. Top 5 go-to, or sometimes called repeated purchases? That’s tough, as you well know: #5 - Famous Grouse (Yep, a blended Scotch. Has the smoke, cheap and always in stock. As good as some single malts I’ve had when price is considered.) #4- Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon (or Buffalo Trace which ever’s in stock.) #3 - Redbreast 12 year old (who knew?) Made me get interested in Irish again. Absolute winner, kinda Scotch, kinda Canadian. Special. #2 - Bowmore 12 year old. (Solid, not too extreme everyday single malt Islay. Love the Laphroaigs and the likes though...hmm) #1 - Lot 40 (who knew, again?) Oh Canada! Price, punch and profile. Ticks all the right boxes. And for what it’s worth, Bowmore Tempest V was the best whiskey I have ever purchased. Special release though, I cant find it through normal retail. From southern Ontario, Cheers Jon.
@@Radioactive_Slime Thanks for sharing! I love your list too and agree that Famous Grouse is a great blend and very affordable! Have you had other Tempest releases? I have heard they vary a fair amount between releases. Take care
My 5 would probably be: Laphroaig QC (first peated whisky I bought and I still love it) Lagavulin 16 Glendronach 12 Teeling Small Batch Glenfarclas 105 (I let it open up for two months before drinking, but I'm on my third bottle in 1½ years, ever since I started my whisky journey). Edradour Calcedonia would probably be on it, too, but I've only had a sample of it as part of a Christmas exchange.
Awesome list! Great tip with 105, it benefits from a little air. I have not had anything from Teeling yet, but I hear great things. Thanks for sharing your list!
@@WhiskyNeighbour credit goes to a friend who gave me a bottle of "Mystery scotch". Turned out to be the 105 after it had been decanted for 2 months. I'd definitely recommend Teeling, I regret not getting their chestnut cask whisky when I was there.
@@SquareViking So good to have friends who can extend or enhance our whisky journey! Chestnut cask sounds very intriguing. Often cost holds me back, but I am more and more willing to pick up unusual or odd caskings then I was a couple of years ago. Part of the adventure!
@@WhiskyNeighbour I've been a bit of a loose canon on that part, picking up odd bottles over the last year. I've joined a sample community because my cabinet is getting too full and full bottles too expensive for what I'd like to try, so that's one way to go about it. I'm hesitated when we were at Teeling when it came down to the chestnut cask. Right now I'm sort of regretting it, but it was a hard 100 or so Euro to throw after it, at the time.
Have you tried the new HP12? I’m hearing it’s not as good. You may have to update your list soon. Quite decently priced as well. Even the Lot 40 comes in less than $30. If you like the Balvenie rum cask, try the Pike Creek 10 yr. another less than $30 I like in my TOP 5.
I have not had the new release of HP 12. I picked up a couple of bottles a while back at a good price and have not worked through them yet. Although that is the last of the stock so I am sure to taste it soon. I have had Pike Creek 10yr, but it was a while ago and need to pick it up again. For me, price is a consideration. If this is something I go to or share easily, it needs to be affordable. Thanks for the encouragement.
@@glennspurrell5432 Mmmm . All good picks! Legacy is getting hard to find though. I have only had one bottle of Cardu, and it was a while ago. Gentle sweet and.... I can't remember. Might be time for another go! Thanks for sharing.
Great choices, Jon! Lot #40 has ceased to be a favorite for me after trying the Lot #40 CS... The Cask Strength edition has spoiled the whole experience for me!
A suggestion - you could have easily put your play card, straight and in place, had you cut lower corner of the play card, so as to give lower corner a straight portion of 1.5-2 inches.
My list got lost inside a thread so I have reproduced it here. *My Top 5 Casual drinking standard price range single malts.* In no particular order: Glen Moray 12 Deanston Virgin Oak Caol Ila 12 Milk and Honey Young Malt Triple Cask Old Pulteney 12 *My top 5 MUST always have stocked in my cabinet single malts* In no particular order: Kilchoman 100% Islay 5th/6th/7th Edition Caol Ila 12 Caol Ila 18 Deanston 12 Glencadam 15
Caol Ila definitely has my attention after I got a hold on the DE. OP had my heart at 17 and 21 (haven't had 12) and Deanston's catching my interest. You're not the first to put it on the top 5 must-haves.
Cool list! I am still waiting on trying the Laphroaig QC, have you tried the triple wood? If so how do they compare? I can’t find Lot 40 in Texas:/ but we have balcones! My top five would probably have to be: 5. Lagavulin Distillers Edition 2017 4. Angels Envy 3. Bruichladdich Port Charlotte Scottish Barley 2. Redbreast Lustau 1. Ardbeg Uigeadail Loved the video man, keep it up! Just gained a new sub!
Thanks for the kind words and the sub! Sadly I have not tried the triple wood, so I cannot compare. Love your list, and if I could afford to stock them; Lag Distillers 17, Lustau, and Uigeadail would always be on the shelf!! Cheers
A man walks into a speciialist whisky bar followed closely by a dog. The man asks the barman for a Bruichladdich Laddie Classic. He sits at the bar and the dog jumps up and starts sniffing the glass of whisky. The man shouts at the dog to get his nose out of his glass and go wait for him outside. The dog instead jumps onto the bar counter top, runs up and down and starts sniffing all the customers' whiskies. The barman shouts at the man, "Oih, mate get your dog out of ere!" | The dog turns to the barman and says, "Barman! I'll have a Bruichladdich Octomore 7.1 Not a 7.2 or 7.3, or an 8.1 or 8.3 but a 7.1 my good man. And don't try and trick me because I'll know.!" The barman looks open mouthed at the talking dog. "What?"" said the dog, "you never met a dog who knew his whiskies before? I'll have you know that I used to work in Octomore farm as a shephard dog. Once Jim McEwan entered the field and started taking samples of peat. I ran over to him and said "JIm, take the peat from this bog over here! Jim was impressed by my peat sensitive nose and very soon I was working in the sample and blending room as Jim's master peat blender at Bruichladdich distillery. In fact, it was my idea to produce the Octomore, the world's most peatiest whisky!. Jim took all the credit for it though." Very soon, the dog had attracted a large crowd of customers around him who started giving the dog their whisky to sniff and asking him for whisky recommendations and giving him blind tasting challenges. The barman turned to the man and said "I'd love to buy that dog. How much do you want for hm? " The man looked at the barman with frustration. "What? How much? Take the bloody dog. It's yours!" As the man was walking out the bar, he turned around and said to the barman "Seriouslly! You don't actually believe all that stuff about how he used to work at Bruichladdich do you?"
Most favourite is a really tough question. I will say I have poured more Lot 40 than Buffalo Trace so ... I guess it is my most favourite in this group, but I was trying to share my "most often" or "most commonly enjoyed" whisky. Which is a little different that absolute favourite. For example, I like the Caskstrength Lot 40 more than their regular, but I have had it less. Or, as I think of peat, I loved Lagavulin 12 year Anniversary edition, but I have only had maybe 5 drams! Do you have a favourite? Is it different than your most consumed? Thanks for dropping in.
Very good list Jon. I suggest you give Glengoyne 15 a try. It will make your repeat buy list every year. My list: 1. Highland Park 18 2. Glengoyne 21 3. Lagavulin 16 4. Highland Park 25 (my fall whisky) 5. Longmorn 15
Wow! That is an impressive list for regularly stocked whisky. On that list, I only keep Lagavulin 16 on the shelf and I have not had Glengoyne 21, HP 25 or Longmorn 15. I will seek out Glengoyne 15. I have heard good things :)
Interesting list. Except the Glengoyne 21, what they all seem to have in common is an Ex-Bourbon cask base but with a substantial Ex-Sherry cask percentage influence. The Glengoyne 21 is a bit of sherry bomb though. 100% Ex-Sherry European butts. Deep red natural colour says it all.
My Go-Back Whiskies would be (1) Henry McKenna BIB (2) Buffalo Trace (3) Larceny (4) Four Roses Small Batch (5) Jim Beam Distiller's Cut. The best thing about this list is there are no wrong answers, just good whiskey.
I think it was really the "break out" Bourbon for me in the last year. I need to get a new one though. I keep talking about it! Hope you had a great weekend!
That is a great comment. I used to keep a couple around all the time. However, over the last maybe 4 years, Scotch seems to run more toward single malt.
Whisky Neighbour Yep. I try to keep 10-15 bottles on the go at any time. It’s nice to be near so many distilleries in Ireland and Scotland for inspiration.
You are right! I did not see it pop up, but I went over as soon as I had Wifi again and watched your 7. Great picks. Lag 8, and a'bunadh are priced over my "regular drinker" level. Actually so is Clynelish at $100, but at least I've had those. I have yet to try Clynelish and based on your thoughts, I really must get to it. Thanks for sharing.
Great Bourbon, but this is a list of my most often purchased or most often reached for. Up here, Larceny is priced too high for what it is. At least for me. I take it Larceny is on you list? What else do you pick up most often
It amazes me how Whiskey recommendations are pretty much useless across borders. Buffalo Trace is mid price and bottled at 40%. Highland Park is 40% and premium priced. Laphroaig quarter cask is half again as expensive as Laphroaig 10 making it GTFO priced. Lot 40 doesn't exist here; we don't get many rye options at all. I'm sure it's all nice stuff but for my local prices they're not even worth considering.
Pricing and availability will always vary around the globe, and I only mention the prices I pay so people can understand my context. The variation in liquid really bothers me. A 40% Buffalo Trace is different than a 45% IMO Thankfully lots of bottles line up too. However, in a "top five daily drinkers" or "value" category I would imagine there would be a significant variation since price has to be considered. At least in my house. In your own context, what are your top 5 most common whiskies?
@@WhiskyNeighbour I generally don't buy the same whiskeys again unless its a mixer since I haven't tried everything I want to. However Ardbeg 10, Glen Moray 15 and Bulleit Rye were all pretty good value. I'd probably pick up gin/vodka/wine/beer/cider to fill up the shelf and call it a day. But I don't run a review channel, lol.
@@AnimeReference Bulleit Rye for me has so much flavour to offer. I could easily live with that around! Even though I run a channel, it is very hard for me to keep regulars too. Always so many new expressions to hunt down! Thanks for sharing.
Hi Rob. I actually prefer QC to the 10yr. What would be your 5 go back to whiskies? Not best whiskies, but ones you would have on hand for just casual drinking or sharing?
Call me Mordechai. (Reb is a title). When the QC first came out it was pretty good. 48% abv as opposed to the 10 YO 40% , It was a nice young frisky but well cask blended up front Islay peat experience but lacking the fruitiness of the 10 YO. Still a descent dram. Then the next few batches had this burnt plastic overtone, a sure sign of rushed out before ready spirit. Last year I tried the QC again and it wan't bad. This year, there is a slight hot rubber taste under the white wine. The problem with the QC, like many NASs is that it is inconsistant between batches. The Laphroaig 10 YO, on the other hand has been consistantly descent for decades. A firm balance of seasweedy coastal peat and yellow fruits, milky salty fudge and lovely honey and vanilla icecream finish, with a few drops of sea water. That's why I'd always replace the 10 YO.
My Top 5 Casual drinking standard price range single malts. In no particular order: Glen Moray 12 Deanston 12 Caol Ila 12 Milk and Honey Young Malt Triple Cask Old Pulteney 12
My top 5 *MUST* always have stocked in my cabinet single malts In no particular order: Kilchoman 100% Islay 5th/6th/7th Edition Caol Ila 12 Caol Ila 18 Deanston 12 Glencadam 15

Wow! That's quite a selection, I'm jealous.
Thanks! Really, all anyone needs is a good bottle and someone to share it with, but it's fun to have choice!
Wonderful picks brother. Enjoy your evening.
Thanks. I hope you have an excellent evening too, and maybe with a pour of something from this line up!
Picks approved! Nice selection!
This is going back a bit, but I still enjoy these bottles!
Cheers.
@@WhiskyNeighbour Damn right! Cheers!
Just cleaning up old comments. Thanks for dropping in!
Nice list, all good whisky's.
Thanks Jamison, I'm glad you find these tasty as well! Did you post something similar?
I have not yet but maybe I should hrm, I might do it!
I would tune in, that's for sure. Cheers!
Lot 40 and Higland park 12 are two of my favorites
Good to hear. Do you venture into Bourbon at all? What would be some of your favorites there?
Jon. Thanks for sharing. Love your videos. Keep up the great work.
Thanks Carl. I enjoy sharing when I can. Cheers!
Buffalo Trace is smooth, interesting and cheap...
I'm OK with all of that!
I am glad we agree on a few of them. I would also say Corby has really stepped up their game!!. What are some of your other regular drams?
Also great!! I have not tried Rock Town Single Barrel. Perhaps I should fix that!
Great Channel , very enjoyable content. :) Aberlour 12 is a great and often overlooked speyside, have you had?
Thanks! Yes, I have had Aberlour 12, though not in a while. It could be time to revisit their line! Is it a favourite of yours?
I feel I must try Lot 40 now, it sounds right up my street
@@matthewtilleybassbaritone I continue to enjoy that Rye!
@@matthewtilleybassbaritone Excellent! A great friend of mine over here is a proud Welshman. I have had Penderyn, but it was a few years back. I should try them again. Take care.
Hey Jon, awesome list! Just wondering where in Canada you're located? I'm from Ontario and a bottle of HP12 retails for $70
Thanks. I am out in Alberta. Hp 12 still drops to this price often, but I am worried we will soon see $65 as normal!
I just got a bottle of Highland Park 12 for $54 at Superstore and it was $10 off.
@Jo Ke I get that. Ontario is brutal. Not a chance I'll be paying $110 for Talisker 10
Nice list !
This is going way back now! Still love each, but so have a few new favourites!
Cheers! 🥃
I have not; but now I must! I bet it's amazing. Thanks for the tip.
Great picks my friend:). I still need to try Lot 40 CS!
Message me an address Keith. I don't know when, but I would love to send you some good Canaduan Whisky to try! We could even do a Hangout or something together over the dram!
Whisky Neighbour That would be awesome. I would love to do a livestream collaboration:)
That’s tough, as you well know:
#5 - Famous Grouse (Yep, a blended Scotch. Has the smoke, cheap and always in stock. As good as some single malts I’ve had when price is considered.)
#4- Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon (or Buffalo Trace which ever’s in stock.)
#3 - Redbreast 12 year old (who knew?) Made me get interested in Irish again. Absolute winner, kinda Scotch, kinda Canadian. Special.
#2 - Bowmore 12 year old. (Solid, not too extreme everyday single malt Islay. Love the Laphroaigs and the likes though...hmm)
#1 - Lot 40 (who knew, again?) Oh Canada!
Take care
I’m starting to like Canadian whisky because it is less harsh and more rounded if that makes sense. I am really into Gooderham and Woorts 4 grain.
Very cool! This is an old video, but these whiskies have held up!
Great choices Jon. I love the buffalo trace. The highland park was just average to me. Still not had any laphroaig.
I can't say the HP is amazing, but it has become something I pour often. Glad you enjoyed BT, and thanks for dropping in!
LOT 40 - YEAH!!!!
Just cleaning up old comments. Thanks for dropping in!
My 5 would probably be:
Laphroaig QC (first peated whisky I bought and I still love it)
Lagavulin 16
Glendronach 12
Teeling Small Batch
Glenfarclas 105 (I let it open up for two months before drinking, but I'm on my third bottle in 1½ years, ever since I started my whisky journey).
@@SquareViking A sample community sounds like a great idea. Picking up full bottles is crazy when you want to explore like we do . Cheers!
What is your Top 5 repeat buys?
Whisky Neighbour Maker’s Mark, balvenie 12, doublewood, cardhu 12 yr, Wiser’s Legacy, and the Pike Creek 10 yr rum finish around the campfire.
@@glennspurrell5432 Mmmm . All good picks! Legacy is getting hard to find though. I have only had one bottle of Cardu, and it was a while ago. Gentle sweet and.... I can't remember. Might be time for another go! Thanks for sharing.
Great choices, Jon! Lot #40 has ceased to be a favorite for me after trying the Lot #40 CS... The Cask Strength edition has spoiled the whole experience for me!
Lol! That caskstrength is a stunner. I can't wait till this years release. Can they top it?
It will be interesting to compare them side by side...
Knob creek single barrel...interesting, thx for the tip o7
If you like higher proof, it's worth a try!
Good choices for every day drinking!
Thanks, that was my goal!
A suggestion - you could have easily put your play card, straight and in place, had you cut lower corner of the play card, so as to give lower corner a straight portion of 1.5-2 inches.
Thanks

3. Bruichladdich Port Charlotte Scottish Barley
2. Redbreast Lustau
1. Ardbeg Uigeadail
Loved the video man, keep it up! Just gained a new sub!
Thanks for the kind words and the sub! Sadly I have not tried the triple wood, so I cannot compare. Love your list, and if I could afford to stock them; Lag Distillers 17, Lustau, and Uigeadail would always be on the shelf!! Cheers
Oogy for sure
Just tried and then bought a bottle of Octomore 7.1, I wish I could afford to keep it stocked lol.
@@ryansmith5043 I've bought the 6.1, 7.1 and 8.1.
For me, the 7.1 is the best one so far.
The barman shouts at the man, "Oih, mate get your dog out of ere!"
|
The dog turns to the barman and says, "Barman! I'll have a Bruichladdich Octomore 7.1 Not a 7.2 or 7.3, or an 8.1 or 8.3 but a 7.1 my good man. And don't try and trick me because I'll know.!"
The barman looks open mouthed at the talking dog.
Jim took all the credit for it though."
Very soon, the dog had attracted a large crowd of customers around him who started giving the dog their whisky to sniff and asking him for whisky recommendations and giving him blind tasting challenges.
The barman turned to the man and said "I'd love to buy that dog. How much do you want for hm?
"
The man looked at the barman with frustration. "What? How much? Take the bloody dog. It's yours!"
As the man was walking out the bar, he turned around and said to the barman "Seriouslly! You don't actually believe all that stuff about how he used to work at Bruichladdich do you?"
Nicely done
Thanks for watching!
Which one is most favourite #5 or #1 ?.
Looks like I got into this late, interesting list! We both have HP 12 YO in the same position, hehehe.
I'll need to go find your video to see how else we compare. Thanks for dropping in!
Very good list Jon. I suggest you give Glengoyne 15 a try. It will make your repeat buy list every year. My list:
1. Highland Park 18
2. Glengoyne 21
3. Lagavulin 16
4. Highland Park 25 (my fall whisky)
5. Longmorn 15
Deep red natural colour says it all.
expensive list except for the Lag 16.
Good to see a good review on Labour Day holiday.🙄
Just cleaning up old comments. Thanks for dropping in!
My Go-Back Whiskies would be (1) Henry McKenna BIB (2) Buffalo Trace (3) Larceny (4) Four Roses Small Batch (5) Jim Beam Distiller's Cut. The best thing about this list is there are no wrong answers, just good whiskey.

5 top value whiskies is a great idea and I wish more reviewers were doing these. I am surprised that no blended scotches made the list though.
That is a great comment. I used to keep a couple around all the time. However, over the last maybe 4 years, Scotch seems to run more toward single malt.

Great Bourbon, but this is a list of my most often purchased or most often reached for. Up here, Larceny is priced too high for what it is. At least for me. I take it Larceny is on you list? What else do you pick up most often
much as I loved the original Lot 40 and the 2012 the new green label nonmalted version does not measure up, or even get close. pity.
I have a bottle of the 2012 stored away for a rainy day, but I missed the original release. Too bad, I would love to taste the whole journey.
Wtrb is better than kcsb in my opinion
I really enjoy Rarebreed too. Just bought another bottle!
Just bought some Lot 40. It's a great whiskey and very easy drinking although I wish it was a higher abv.
Cheers
Seriously? Laphroaig Quarter Cask? Can't you get the 10YO where you are?
