Now that was a special treat! A human interest story… and getting to meet the very special people of our good neighbors to the south of Canada! Thank you so much Terry & Bob… for taking time out to sit down & chat about your lives and the experiences you’ve lived! Life is so much more than just beekeeping!
Thank you Terry for your service! I'm so sorry you and many other Veterans had to deal with the hateful comments back then. This was a wonderful video. ❤
Terry...can't thank you enough for your commitment for keeping our flag flying free. My dad was a Vietnam Vet in 67-69 with the Airforce...driving a Dozer setting up runways and uncharged of the big generators. Dad never talked much...and we could tell we didn't want to ask much. Thank you from my family...including our 80k beegirls in the colonies. Dad loves cut comb, and he gets as much as he wants! bob...thank you for bringing Terry's story to us...
What a wonderful story! Being good to people and doing the right thing always pays off in the end. Thank you for your service Terry and thank you to all of our veterans! I think we are too often sheltered and need to hear from our veterans to fully understand that our freedom always comes with a price.
That was a really nice look into your past! Thank you Terry and all the Vietnam vets who were treated so badly. You guys deserve so much gratitude from this country! THANK YOU ALL!!!
What a good video A pleasant cup of coffee before work this morning It’s amazing how you can shine on someone and make him not only look like a superstar but feel like a superstar, because he is a superstar. Hats off both of you, especially Terry
Bob, my daddy told me 30 years ago when I started my paper money company that I would finish with the ability to count true clients/friends on my fingers… he then said, “and you will only use one hand”. As you said, character and integrity goes a long way. Many people today have forgotten that. Thanks for sharing.
Terry, I am so sorry that happened to you. My family and I thank you tremendously for your service and Welcome Home soldier. Bob, thank you for this video.
Thank you so much for this Bob and Terry I really enjoy beekeeper story times.👍Honey bees have a tendency to make some real great friendships out of strangers.😁 As a Vet, thank you for your service Terry "Old School Character," it's good to see in the current world.
Wow !! What a great video ..two great human beings ..Mr Bob ,I’ve met you twice , my wife and I, and completely out of respect I call you Mr Bob .. Our two packages are doing great, the ones we got two weeks ago ..I installed one of them in an observation hive inside our BBQ shack down here in south Alabama .. maybe one day you can come for a visit !!!! Hope to see you the next trip we make up to Lakemont ….
Thank you Terry for your service. Also thank you for bringing this story to light of a real friend you had . That really will be a good video for you to have as a keepsake. THANKS
🇺🇸💪 Americas Finest right there folks. Great video Bob thanks for sharing. Americas finest!! Hope to come visit next spring . Thanks for your service Terry.🇺🇸💪🙏
Please tell Terry thanks for me. I am 10 years behind you guys in age and I remember signing up for the draft to go. The war ended and I was spared being drafted but you never know. On a more positive side I am sure the beekeeping was therapeutic for Terry. Great story. We should never forget to thank all vets no mater the era. Their service is and was a sacrifice. Their stories are never too small to be told and heard.
thank you bob! You are always such a pleasure and set such an amazing example i wish i can come even the slightest bit close to your level of professionalism and friendship!
Yes thank you Terry for your service and to all the men and women that defend our country! You deserve free meal, pats on the back and whatever other appreciation that’s not shown enough in today’s society. And thank you Bob for your kind, low key, compassionate interviews of people that have made a difference in your journey as a beekeeper and businessman!😊
Terry, thank you for all you did to serve our country. I had quite a few friends that served in Nam and many came back with a lot of scars and issues. They went through a terrible ordeal to serve this country. Have a great retirement.
It’s great having friends to work with or make friends while working! I have a feeling you are an easy boss to work for Bob! 👍 And Terry, Thanks for your Service. Bees are good for your soul, they have so many benefits.
Nice to see, it’s important to take time to reflect on our friendships that started at work. My dads a V vet navy 67-70, he was at the helm of the uss Providence. He’s a beekeeper and loves your videos and hive life videos
Really good and interesting discussion. Thanks to Terry and all of the Veterans of all conflicts for their service to protect us and our country. Thanks Bob for sharing.
Another awesome video Bob. I looked at a spot to for an out yard yesterday. It's next door to a Day Lillie farm. I'm gonna try it, and see how it goes.
Another great video!!! I enjoyed hearing the old working stories!!!! I have a question, it may make a good video for you but, if your schedule was completely empty and you could get apairies to setup on, where would you go, and what would that season look like? Like mountains for the sourwood or Florida for orange blossoms. Do you know anyone that chases a particular blooms nationwide for the various honey crops???Asking for someone crazy enough to do it out of a wall tent!!! 😁 thank you Terry for your service to our country sir!
There are probably as many honey crops to chase as imagination will allow. Sourwood and orange is certainty a couple of them. Tupelo in the Florida panhandle, gallberry near the Okefenokee swamp are others in the southeast.
Great video Bob, it is always great getting to see people from your past. Bob, speaking of memories are you finding this year that the bees are more swarmy then usual?
@Bob Binnie i have had more swarms this year than ever. You check for swarm cells and they still swarmed. I said it at the beginning of spring It's going to be a big swarm season. Thanks for the great video.❤️🐝
I really enjoyed your conversation with Terry. I sell around 25 nucs a year and just had an incident that I had not experienced before after several years of selling nucs. A customer called to say that three weeks after picking up and installing his nuc, they all died. To my knowledge all of my other customers and my own personal nucs have thrived. Many of my customers have taken time to call and tell me how well their nucs are doing and how happy they are with them. I am going to give this customer, with the dead bees, another nuc free of charge, but am curious as to how long the seller is responsible, if at all, for the viability of the bees? The customer stated that they were fine when he installed them. I want everyone to be happy with their purchase, but question whether I should have been this accommodating!! I am the Ohio beekeeper that also has a home in Blairsville and can't wait to get back down to the mountains of GA!
Hi Larry. I go through plenty of this every year and I have to admit that some people can really try your patience. Although many bee suppliers have a policy of "Buyers assume all responsibility when bees leave this property" I try to take it case by case. This year we had complaints like "we had 30 out of 40 queens go bad in three weeks, I've been doing this 16 years, never had this happen, has to be your queens" - even though we have had nearly 100% success with the same queens. Or "five out of the seven nucs you sold me had bad queens", - even though we checked them two days before they left. Or "half the the queens you sold me superseded within three weeks". "One third of the packages you sold me were bad and failed", even though they looked great when they left here, etc, etc. If you're going to sell bees this type of thing will happen and in most cases it will be the customers fault. But, like you, I want all of our customers to have a positive experience and in many cases I simply make it happen at my expense. If the customer is sincere I try to be respectful and listen carefully to see if there is a possibility of a mishap on our end and in many cases we try to make it right even though it seems probable that something went wrong after the bees left our care. HOWEVER, if I'm quite sure that someone is trying to take advantage of me or they are simply being stubborn and unreasonable (this happens) I do nothing.
Thanks for your service Terry, it's a shame that everyone treated you like that when you got home. The people who sent you are the ones that should have been ridiculed.
