Full Throttle Fun: POV Drive + 0-60 Sprint in My Supercharged Manual Lexus GS400!

  • Most of this video is filmed POV, or Point of View. I wanted to give you the best perspective of what it's like to drive a manual-swapped and supercharged LEXUS GS400. I do a 0-60 run in the video, but only get to 56MPH due to a rev limiter issue (ATEMU setting?) and my 3.7 diff, which forces me to shift into 3rd before hitting 60MPH. That said, the car runs 4.5 seconds to 56MPH. I plan to up the boost soon, from 6psi to 8psi. Also on the list is an LSD and new clutch disk.

    I have been waiting for another POV drive your gs is such a beast man. I just put a supra flywheel and clutch kit into my manual is300 and I am trying to get the pedal adjusted so I can get back on the road. This video satisfies my urge to drive

      Update,i broke a plastic harness retainer and it fell between the timing belt and crank pulley,didn’t bend a valve but both banks were off their mark by at least 30 degrees.Replaced timing belt and put 10k miles since

    *As I vehemently stated on the comparison video of the "GS 300/400/430" I don't like the V8 over the 2JZ but i have to admit this is pretty smooth, with some kick! That drone is annoying though*

    I love this serious. It’s always cool to see you adding new goodies to the gs. Do you have a power goal in mind? I’m guessing your making at least 350 whp right now? Be cool to see this thing have 450-550 whp someday, 1uz is a beast of an engine!

      I just put a new pulley on and I’m probably at 325whp. Not bad considering these put down 235whp stock.

    The Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera drifting over the center line at 04:01 was probably distracted and filming their own road test video for YT after installing a 2JZ swap.

    This can only be solved by one thing, remove the limiter and get this 1uz to give you its full power like the dark side of the force.

    This thing is great!! Do you have an LSD? I used to have a big V8 MT (‘08 550i M-sport) and my only regret is not spending the money on an LSD to really unleash what it was capable of.

    Can you please tell me the oart number for the radiator hose that you use. I am about to buy a supercharged gs400 and it is using the original radiator hose. I saw a video you mentioned you used a special radiator hose, please let me know what hose it is. Thanks

    • @ForwardMomentum
      @ForwardMomentum  8 місяців тому

      As mentioned in my supercharger series, I don’t have that info. My friend had it laying around and gave it to me. I tried to figure out the PN by looking at various numbers printed on the hose itself to no avail. I simply cannot figure out the PN. One thing you could do is route a flexible wire to the path you need, take it into an auto parts store, and see if they have a hose that meets your needs on the wall.

      A GS300, manual and turbo would be pretty sweet. Although for a DD mine is great. Given today’s car pricing, I’d probably build a 300. I can’t stand the lack of room under the hood of this thing, but dang it’s fun as a DD…

    Unrelated to the video but what is the most likely cause of a belt tensioner making a clickinf noise when the car is running? I have a 98` GS400

    • @ForwardMomentum
      @ForwardMomentum  10 місяців тому +1

      Take the belt off and see if you can replicate the sound on the tensioner by moving it and spinning the pulley. They’re pretty cheap so maybe just get another one.

    How much power do you estimate right now? How much has fuel consumption increased?

    • @ForwardMomentum
      @ForwardMomentum  10 місяців тому +3

      I estimate I’m at 300-310whp, or +65-75whp over typical stock whp (235 on the GS400). I just added a 3.25” pulley today, so I should be around 325-330whp here soon. Fuel consumption has remained the same, funny enough.
