Unfortunately, there is no competition until intel comes out with their cards. Rumored to have performance slightly higher than 4070 for 350$, but that is top tier for Intel. Amd already announced they won't compete in the high end. So if you need or want the fastest, then you go nvidia, hey are, in fact, a monopoly in the high end and can do what they want. Amd messed up with their last 2 gens when they tried to squeeze margins when they should have undercut nvidia instead and get back market share. But they did not.
I have LOVED my A770 for $320 with a free game that I wanted to buy anyway I won't be upgrading to Battlemage because I'm not an idiot who upgrades every generation. But I hope they release a budget friendly good card. I don't care about high end, never have. My first GPU was a GTX 950 for less than $100.
that's the point why nvidia increase their price. they want people to buy Amd or intel GPU. did you see the market share report? intel already at 0% for two quarters. AMD at 12%. that is AMD market share when they start releasing RDNA 3 to the market. AMD recent gaming revenue (which including 2 major console sales) is at 462 million. Nvidia latest gaming revenue is at 3.3 billion.
the 90 class card costing that much is one thing. But the 90 is mostly aimed at pro-sumers or productivity stuff. BUT the 80 class and lowers being so damn expensive is ridiculous!
thats why i save my cash. bought the original 3090 and just waited and skip a generation. It will serve me a well as backup card now incase the 5090 decides to just shit itself. All the games i play are always graphically maxed which is great. I never want to go back to a 60's or 70's card.
For STALKER 2, and being a fan of the previous games. Yes, this is exactly what I wanted, sure it's buggy, but it's nowhere near as bad as some previous launches. I also see a ton of people saying it's unplayable due to performance, I have lucked out I guess since mine runs well.
@ AMD abandoned the high end gpu market and their high end gpu isn’t even close when it comes to Ray tracing. The 4080 super steps all over the 7900xtx in ray tracing with less ram. Not to mention the next series is lower end gpu. The 4090 is whole other ball game. The 50 series will make the gap even larger and Nvidia knows this so they will put whatever price they want on it. Video rendering yes the AMD is fast but the quality output isn’t as good either. 4090 was overpriced cause nothing could touch it. It’s like the 7800x3d and 9800x3d in gaming vs 285k. It’s not even close so AMD can charge an absorbent amount of money for an 8 core cpu. V-cache doesn’t double the cost and proof of that is 5800x3d vs 5700x3d prices. Both companies are guilty of it in different ways.
AMD's 6000 series were the peak of AMD in GPUs. They really closed the gap in everything gaming except for upscaling and ray tracing. They saw it still didn't matter and now I doubt they care to pour money into a bottomless pit, hence why no more high end GPUs.
It's not a monopoly because gaming GPUs are a luxury, much like a Bugatti. You can't be punished simply because you're the fastest with the most features and set your own price to access performance. As long as they're not actively preventing free market competition, they're fine. Just because other companies who could compete choose not to, is not reason enough to force Nvidia to cease innovation or lower prices. Demand itself will dictate how much they're worth, which is why you frequently see price drops after initial demand has ebbed. If anything, Nvidia is an Oligopoly. Meanwhile, there are plenty of budget GPU's out there that fill the Toyota roll very well (including iGPUs) and there's also the used GPU market if you can't buy new.
I bought a 7900 xtx on sale and honestly I'm glad I did. It's a great card and I'm not supporting a company like Nvidia that seems bent on price gauging right now. Hope AMD and Intel are able to make good cards this coming gen and both win some market share for GPUs.
Steam controller hype! Need more support like this so we can couch + TV play more mouse & KB games. Additionally, for those with accessibility issues, controllers are usually much better on your hands. And devs need more custom binding options for controllers but thankfully Steam has some overrides, people really don't see how much control you can build in with those touchpads and the extra menus.. just takes some effort to DIY for each game.
The consumers are the only ones that can force Nivdia to change, unfortunately they are telling Nvidia to keep the status quo. AMD gaming reported a 48% drop, Nvidia reported a 16% increase, you can see why Nvidia is not interested in changing.

What kills my fps is when indoors and the engine wants volumetric fog and godrays together, it looks bad from shimmering and destroys fps. Besides that, outdoors i get 55-70 fps at all times with an rx7600 at 720p low settings, indoors sub 30fps
i got a fix, override the anitialiasing in either adrenaline or nvidias control panel and it fixed the shimmering and now i can play in 1080p flawlessly
The anticipated 5090 street price plus charging you to use it more than 100 hours a month. True villany anti-consumer move, Nvidia... Also, I'm slightly weeping for your poor English teacher for that title. 😂

So many people declared the ps portal useless then got mad when the sales results didn’t reflect their opinion. How dare people have different opinions
The reason people are mad, is because they just showed Sony that is ok to sell a glorified controller with a screen for $200. This kills any hope for a portable console like the switch, or Sony releasing their games on mobile. Remember what happened when people started buying microtransactions? Quality DLCs went out the window since why make an entire campaign for $20 when you can sell a funny hat or skinned gun for $15?
Well, Sony’s last handheld console wasn’t exactly flying off the shelves. This glorified controller comes with a screen and a larger battery. Try going into another room with a regular controller and streaming your games with no screen. No Bueno. What most people would be happy with is if they could cram a PS4 into a portable and having the entire PS4 library on day one. While simultaneously making new games as well.

I don't mind 5090 costing ridiculously high. It is for those who want the best in the market. But the 5080??? Why $1K+? Why not 700usd or 800usd? Greed
Because enough gamers will pay $1k+ for a 5080. It's simple supply and demand. AMD had very solid products the last two generations, but 80% still went and payed more for Nvidia. Nvidia learned they can cut low on RAM, set price higher and they will still buy.

The original steam controller is the most comfortable controller I have ever used. If I could find one for my daughter and my wife. That would be all we would use. It needs a firmware update to reduce the lag on the right touch pad, but that's it.
I’m liking stalker 2, but I liked the older games so it’s easy to see why other people don’t like it cause of the bugs and performance issues. I have to admit though, the frame gen is pretty amazing despite the input delay it causes. It’s extending the life of my 2070 super and I’ve been getting fairly stable performance on all high settings. An issue I am seeing however is devs seeing frame gen as an excuse to not have their games optimized. But this might be a special case here considering what GSC has gone through when developing this game.
For qualcomm to win the market they needs to 1) make cheaper laptops 2) Market performance and efficiency instead of AI 3) Better GPU 4) Better software ARM support
I really wish Qualcomm hadn't set expectations by advertising monthly GPU driver updates. This is the first official update since launch and it isn't even for every device.
I bought one of the steam controllers during the fire sale and I gave it an honest go for about 2 weeks for a variety of gaming situations on my gaming pc and couldn't take the dual trackpads. the interface was just too cumbersome vs. using a keyboard and mouse. I realize that I'm just one datapoint, and I turned around and sold it for what I bought it for to a friend who enjoys it's use *shrug*.
I don't think Valve is optimizing the NVIDIA drivers for Linux to be a good guy. They definitely have some hardware coming up that uses an NVIDIA GPU. My guess would be some kind of Steam Machine 2.0 or maybe even preparing for a Steam Deck 2 in a couple of years. I mean, they also recently announced Half Life 2 RTX which is fully dependent on RTX graphics cards.
I like DLSS on Linux. If gaming on Linux is to be mainstream-ready it needs to support all the conveniences people enjoy on Windows. The option needs to be there for those who want/need it. Especially since studios seem to go the "Why optimize when DLSS and FSR exist?" route. SteamOS: What I don't understand about SteamOS is who is it for? Imho, it works spendid for a console type of thing like the Deck, but on an actual PC? Why bother with SteamOS if you have the choice of any other Linux and Proton, especially if you need to install it yourself either way? Maybe a pre-builds with SteamOS campaign? Hmmm.
Yeah the original STALKER games are a classic example of slavjank. They were incredibly ambitious for the time, and performance and stability suffered for it. Personally, STALKER 2's on my 'hold off on buying until I get a GPU upgrade' list along with SH2 and MH Wilds.
So the new Valve VR set is based on Blade Runner names. I'm assuming the total collective device will be named something like Nexus 6 or a derivative. Snapdragon X 2024 = Cyrix 1995 MS365 Link = AppleTV
If they do not lower prices, then they won't get my money till every 3rd gen😅 Going from 1080 to 3080 doubled performance. If that's the same from 3080 to 5080 but it's 50% more expensive than I spend, then I see no reason to upgrade.
The more Nvidia gonna walk higher in the air will result a harder fall. Just like how Intel proceed to do that with their chips because of their lack of R&D for new techs. But at the same time I am excited with the how Intel's Battlemage release.
If the 5050 laptop gpu is taking the place of the 4060 then they better put in 8gb of vram. Also they are saying the 5090 is going to be $1999 for the non oc card and $200-$300 more for the oc version. I tell you, if people boycotted Nvidia for one generation, they would miss that billions of dollars and while gaming may only rep a small percent of their revenue, they would def. miss it. Thats a huge amount of money. Theyd lose their minds
Only people with a large income and/or few responsibilities or professionals that require it for work have the ability or would consider paying over $2500 for a gpu. But even with those factors the consumer still should not have to do that. Especially since the gaming gpu market is such a small portion of nvidias profits. Idk fellas it just sits wrong with me. You would think Nvidia would show a little more appreciation to its consumers.
With the 5050 taking the 4060 price spot, and the 4060 previously taking the price point of the 4070, gaming laptop market is pure BS, I won't be even thinking of buying overpriced crap.
The stalker fans, me included, saying that the buggy mess is back baby is real. Im using a 5700x3d with an rx7600, the overall performance is terrible, expected from UE, i have it all set to low at 720p and sometimes i even lower the res further during some portions. Iv already seen some pretty wacky stuff in the 3 hrs iv played, most of it is actor bugs, lights not attaching correctly to heads, body parts glitching out and heads detatching from the body model and floating after death. When outside i can get 55-70fps but indoors it drops to sub 30. UE4/5 lighting has always been an fps killer, and always at low settings has immense shimmering artifacts, pun intended. The low volumetric fog + godrays that you cant disable fully create so much shimmering its really bad and even worse that it just destroys fps I just gotta wait for people to create UE configs for performance. Another problem are mutants for whatever reason being bullet sponges and dont react at all to being shot, the first bloodsucker in the prolouge took 11 Headshots to kill with an ak74, i cheesed it by getting up high and breakings its pathfinding, all other bloodsuckers iv killed take way too much ammo. Even fleshes, mutated pigs, that used to be fodder are now bullet sponges too. Used to be able to shooting something and it would stagger from large impacts but now they all just charge through it all. Edit: Override the antialiasing using adrenaline and now theres no more shimmer and i can play 1080p
Imagine getting a shout-out for a shout-out of another platform that is in fact by the one who shout it out! 😂😂😂 Man I'd like to see someone on floatplane that could shout-out this channel on floatplane!😂😂😂

Whelp im gonna eat my words. The portal is finally good and Brett was right!
Sounds like the Portal is finally worth its price tag.
I will never but current gen tech anymore because we basically turned into paying a premium to beta test hardware the year it comes out.
When I first got the 4090 at MSRP (with a slight discount), I felt buyer's remorse for quite some time. Now, I don't feel so bad.
For qualcomm to win the market they needs to 1) make cheaper laptops
2) Market performance and efficiency instead of AI
3) Better GPU
4) Better software ARM support
Surprised for the deals you didnt talk about the 4070 ti super being like 100 something $ off on amazon
I really wish Qualcomm hadn't set expectations by advertising monthly GPU driver updates. This is the first official update since launch and it isn't even for every device.
Love this Channel❤
More expensiver gpus?
"Enthusiasts" and the new shiny lovers will still buy them though.
I swear I just saw a report 50 series was going to be slightly cheaper. This is a lot more on brand for Nvidia though
CONSUMERS it’s time to THINK before BUYING! DON’T LET NVIDIA GET AWAY WITH THIS PRICING!!!
I bought one of the steam controllers during the fire sale and I gave it an honest go for about 2 weeks for a variety of gaming situations on my gaming pc and couldn't take the dual trackpads. the interface was just too cumbersome vs. using a keyboard and mouse. I realize that I'm just one datapoint, and I turned around and sold it for what I bought it for to a friend who enjoys it's use *shrug*.
its a shame 3dfx stopped driver updates. we must go back to the old ways :(
Cant wait for Dawid to get his ands on one and say fiddy fiddy
Bugs in Stalker 2 should be seen as a feature. At the end of the day, it's a game full of anomalies!
Well, I'm at the point that the newest games suck so much that I don't need a new graphic card. Still rocking my 1080Ti.
I mean, they also recently announced Half Life 2 RTX which is fully dependent on RTX graphics cards.
i dont see them not using amds integrated gpus on the cpu ...
Personally, STALKER 2's on my 'hold off on buying until I get a GPU upgrade' list along with SH2 and MH Wilds.
the STALKER launch is just as intended and just as its predecessor
True slavic jank
I've had zero issues with stalker 2 will drop down to like 50 at 1440 b I'm going to RTX 3080 and a 5600 x 16 gigs of RAM
I expect a 5090 to be over £2500 in the UK 🤣
So the new Valve VR set is based on Blade Runner names. I'm assuming the total collective device will be named something like Nexus 6 or a derivative.
Snapdragon X 2024 = Cyrix 1995
MS365 Link = AppleTV
Here is my take. The 5090 will cost around $2,800. 🤷♀
If they do not lower prices, then they won't get my money till every 3rd gen😅
Going from 1080 to 3080 doubled performance. If that's the same from 3080 to 5080 but it's 50% more expensive than I spend, then I see no reason to upgrade.
If the price has to go up, it's not a better GPU.
LOL Qualcomm 4B in 2029? Did they forget ARM gave them a 60-day notice of the end of their agreement back in October?
The more Nvidia gonna walk higher in the air will result a harder fall. Just like how Intel proceed to do that with their chips because of their lack of R&D for new techs. But at the same time I am excited with the how Intel's Battlemage release.
but nvidia aint stopping with r&d, no comparison to intel lol
The bugs are what people like about S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Guys, take a look at the stock price. They know Jansen won't hike the price. That's why the stock is down. Let's have some hope.
Someone should use one of those ITX motherboards with the PS5 chip on it and stream pc games to a PS portal
Dadstation 5... as a dad and a self proclaimed ps fan boy, I approve. But my pc is king still 😂
Stalker 2 Running better then i thought it would with no DLSS or Framegen guess review copies had more performance issues?
"There are no bugs in Stalker games, only anomalies!" - ye olde Stalker joke.
You would think Nvidia would show a little more appreciation to its consumers.
english is not my first language
u said "im your bread host"????? at the beginning of the video
i genuinely want to know the .... host
thank you
Nvidia wont stop even though they have the "expenssive-est" GPU around.
With the 5050 taking the 4060 price spot, and the 4060 previously taking the price point of the 4070, gaming laptop market is pure BS, I won't be even thinking of buying overpriced crap.
More expensiver Nah, I want less Expensiver, Let’s Go HN.
The low volumetric fog + godrays that you cant disable fully create so much shimmering its really bad and even worse that it just destroys fps
I just gotta wait for people to create UE configs for performance.
Gpu pricing is not news, we know it's gonna be expensive
No way he called STALKER 2 a disappointment
They can’t keep getting away with it!!
A $300 RTX 5050?! Why would anyone buy a new entry level card if this trend of minimal if any improvement in price vs performance continues?
welcome to reality.
Can't wait for the Chinese to get competitive with their GPUs one day
Ngreedia, Nvid-AI, they don’t have any reason to care about making reasonably priced gaming cards anymore
Good morning everybody. I'm your Brett host.
READ THIS: LOVE DA CHANEL!
I’m having a blast with stalker 2 bugs and all. Though, I am that stalker 1 fan. 😂😂😂
Imagine getting a shout-out for a shout-out of another platform that is in fact by the one who shout it out! 😂😂😂 Man I'd like to see someone on floatplane that could shout-out this channel on floatplane!😂😂😂
Its stalker, it should be buggy and a mess. Let it cook a while and it will be like stalker original a masterpiece
Please never recommend 5000 series as a protest.
