Jamaica won by a landslide. Jamaica is world renowned. Jamaica is known for a plethora of things including ENDING SLAVERY IN 1834 (decades before the USA); THE PARISH OF TRELAWNY HAVING ELECTRICITY EVEN BEFORE NEW YORK CITY; BLUE MOUNTAIN COFFEE; RED STRIPE BEER; VARIETY OF RUM; JERK SEASONING/DISHES (Other islands fraudulently claiming "Caribbean Jerk". Jerk originated only in JAMAICA); REGGAE MUSIC (BOB MARLEY); MOUNTAINS; MANY WHITE SAND BEACHES; LUXURIOUS RESORTS; WATERFALLS; BOBSLED TEAM; WORLD FAMOUS ATHLETES INCLUDING DONALD QUARRY, MARLENE OTTEY, SHELLY-ANN FRASER, USAIN BOLT, etc. GOLFING; MUSEUMS; RIVER RAFTING; LANDMARKS; CLEAN AIR; FRIENDLY PEOPLE; LAID-BACK VIBE and so, so much more. Hurricanes are an act of nature or as some would say, an act of God. Therefore, giving points for this does not seem fair. Also, if the woman Prime Minister in Barbados was so astute how come the Chinese are encroaching on the island? Jamaica has had a woman Prime Minister too. Jamaica does not need to issue remote working visas because it has had the Unconditional Landing Stamp (visa) in place long before COVID19. Remote working visas came about just the other day due to COVID19. Additionally, Jamaica also has available plenty of domestic helpers, gardeners, etc. for reasonable rates. Looking at the broader picture, Jamaica, undoubtedly won.
Yes, for me Barbados sounds the best. Sounds like single women looking for menzzzz will struggle just like in the U.S. Again just like BW in the U.S. regardless of the location “we” need to keep our options open. Some of the comments about hobosexuals and picky but broke had me 💀
@Stephanie Perry This was great (despite some of the choppy connections 🙂)! Please make this a REGULAR thing with Black women living on other Caribbean 🏝 islands, women living in various West African countries, East African countries, and even Europe as another viewer suggested. Thank you.
As a Jamaican woman who’s now living in the U S, I can definitely say I’m so happy to see Black people moving to the Caribbean. I will be moving back to Jamaica myself once I retire. There’s nothing like living in a country where EVERYBODY LOOKS LIKE YOU.

White people can only do these things in the Caribbean because the Government are bought. They seem to forgot that our slave ancestors worked those lands and were prohibited from doing a lot of things that we now take for granted. What they have now done or is trying to do is return us to those days. White people in their own country cannot seal off beaches - they must secure access for the public. But guess what they move to the Caribbean and the governments there who are suppose to be educated allowed them to say that their property line runs all the way out into the ocean. Only White people would come up with that shit into a Black island and get away with it. The governments of the Caribbean islands have sold out their population for easy money. No foreigner should be allowed to move to the Caribbean and have powers to stop the Indigenous people free movement. Caribbean people need to stop all this twerking crap and look at the real issues. Those beaches are ours, people in the Caribbean stop letting those foreigners stop you enjoying the land of our ancestors - you should be able to do whatever you want on that beach . All of you should be able to walk pass their house, because the beach is not their land. Start mobilizing and do something for your future, your children's future and the future of the country.
If black people in the islands are not careful, the whites and Chinese will take over these islands so good to know black people are moving to the islands.
The white people in Jamaica are a million times different from those in Europe and North America Red necks, I knew nothing about racism until I moved to the UK as a child during the 70's. Since living in Afrika two of my best friends are white Germans and they are interested in moving from Namibia to Jamaica and they will be most welcome.
What Clarice is trying to say is that most people dont have to flock to the beaches in Jamaica because there are plenty of rivers all over the island, safe for swimming, that many communities have easy access to.
Jamila sold Barbados! I am sooo interested in this island. Love the hired help concept with no problem working for a Black woman. Also, she made a wonderful strong point about women in America doing everything: work, cook, clean. This is why we have stress related diseases! Heart disease, cancer and strokes.
@@rosalinelowe972 why? They will sleep with the husband/ boyfriend or I should say the island husband/boyfriend will sleep with the help and often have kids with them. Don't let them. They will also sleep with the teenage boys in the family. It's not a secret on the island. Don't let them cook for you either. They will also "carry news" on the wife to the husband.
Barbados is a beautiful Island. Very helpful & friendly ppl. I visited in 2019 and I loved it.💖 I'm considering moving there. Also US Virgin Island, maybe St Thomas. Plan on visiting a few more Islands then decide.
I stayed at the NEGRIL TREEHOUSE in Negril, Jamaica 🇯🇲 in 2020, with the running group call Reggae Runnerz for the Reggae Marathon🏃🏽♀️ Gail and her staff are Amazing and Beautiful ! Please support BLACK OWN BUSINESS! YASS! 💚💛🖤 One Love
Zoe, you had me feeling every word about how you feel looking around you and feeling free, seeing images of us on money and teachers that your children see that look like them. This is deep.
Having been through the Caribbean, especially Grenada, Bahamas, Jamaica, Guyana, except for the British VI, I love Grenada, Grand Anse, Grenada, has small white, soft, silky sand and wide beach shelf, beautiful water, safe for non-swimmers Stephanie.
I just want say 😉💄 dont feel stress or worried about picking the right or wrong country CARICOM & The AU (African Union) =have passports.. Once you belong to one place; you belong to all places. 'FREE MOVEMENT' is the theme in the Caribbean and in Africa. work, play or retirement will become a smoother choice & I welcome it !! because I cant decide ..😂😭
To me ( and I am from New York City but lived and worked in a number of Caribbean countries), Jamaica is like the ENTIRE Caribbean in one- and MORE. It is very diverse- the people are different (there is variety in the people- not everybody is the same), the neighborhoods can be vastly different, the landscape, terrains, natural resources, etc. are multidimensional and varied, there is A LOT to do and see, and so on. It's hard to be bored. If you earn a decent income, you'd be fine. Jamaica would do well especially for Americans, British and Canadians who live on social security/retiring/on retirement income. In terms of rent, 600-650 USD can get you a VERY nice 2-bed, 2-bathroom house or apartment in a gated, upscale, safe community. If you make USD/British Pounds, it's like you've won the lottery lol. When I say very nice apartments/houses, I mean MUCH nicer than apartments in England/NYC- the houses or apartments are more on par with the best in Florida or Georgia (strangely, houses in Florida and Georgia look similar to the houses in Jamaica). The infrastructure is very good (surprisingly). For instance, their highways and some major roads are first-world like (surprisingly, again lol). You will find poorly maintained roads in some areas/places, though. Their hospitals are advanced/close to advanced. The service in the public hospitals can be poor, however. Maybe the doctors and nurses are stressed- I don't know. Services in private hospitals are much better. They also have a decent public transportation system, and there is a variety of options when it comes to transportation. There is also a lot of shopping places, malls, theaters, restaurants, gardens and zoos, parks, clubs, falls, beaches, rivers, caves, hiking areas, rain forests, mangroves, mountains, plantations and great houses, cafes, co-working places, etc. There is also free Wi-Fi in some public places! They also have good schools (both private and public) and great universities that are ranked among the best in the world. There is also free healthcare if you are a resident. Jamaica reminds of of Florida- only smaller and not as developed (even though some areas rival the best areas in Florida). The service is VERY slow, however. They DO NOT move fast- they are never in a rush, which is annoying! The light can go in the middle of something important. Depending on where you are, they may warn you before. It usually comes back on quickly, though (for the most part). Less than 4 USD can get you a nice dinner or lunch at one of the restaurants where you go in and order (like a corner food shop/something). I'd advise people to go somewhere and stay for at least 6 months before they move there. You can rent Airbnb for 6 months.
@@idesireit31 , Crime is in almost all the Caribbean countries- Trinidad, DR, Barbados, Antigua.... I get to understand that crime in Jamaica is very complicated. Most of it is concentrated in certain areas/parts of the country. It's almost mostly gang-related and scamming-related. If you have a small circle of friends/choose your friends carefully, you should be fine. I am from NYC, and trust me, I can tell you about crime.
Please - Jamaica is just like all the other Caribbeans Island - only bigger They have the same problems with health care, customer service, etc. Beautiful houses, beaches, free WI-Fi, good food and entertainments, decent public transportation, excellent government schools, rivers, caves, etc.
Shawn Johnson you are spot on with everything! I’m from Jamaica but have not been back in 20 years. Everybody talks about the crime and they scare you when they start harping on that but like everything else that needs to be put in proper perspective. Thank you for laying it all out for us. ❤️🇯🇲 peace and love.
Same. A few months ago I hired a woman who runs her own laundry service. She picks up my laundry and brings it back clean and dry. You wouldnt believe the judgement I am getting from family and friends.
I'm from Detroit, MI and retired in St Vincent and the Grenadines. Its between Barbados and St. Lucia. I moved here to be with my now ex-boyfriend, but have come here for years with him. I love it here and the people are so friendly and helpful. Its also more affordable then Barbados where I also lived with as well. During the lockdown many of the blacks that were born here, returned from England, US and other European countries and say they never plan to return. From the treatment of blacks in Ukraine, the return has increased as well.
Barbados for the Wifi for me 😅. I like all the islands and kno I would adapt well to any of them discussed. I need that wifi tho so thats what will probably influence my decision the most so my calls and internet connection wont drop
Just ran across this site! Thanks so much! We moved to Belize from Florida etc. We love it. No Regrets but Karen and Ken moved next door. We all have 30 acres each but whew the challenges I thought I left are right here. I must remember why I'm here...Stress free, better quality of life and plans to live longer. So, I am determined not to let anyone steal my joy! I am here to stay! Quite and relaxed in the jungle with the howling monkeys!
Which part of Belize did you move too? I'm highly considering moving to Belize. I went on a 1 week vacation there in 2021 and damn was it beautiful 😍 so much nature which I love.
As someone from the Caribbean living in the US, I listen to the ladies, and I am happy for them, but for me that visit family twice a year, I really don’t like what’s going on in the Caribbean, The politicians are all bought and the foreigners are taking over the Caribbean, especially the Asians, so the locals are disrespected same as in America, racism on our own island…. I believe Barbados is moving in the right direction with a woman as the leader and its connection to Africa, but for me to move, it would be Africa to be really feel free…I think those who go to the islands have some kind of family ties…. locals island hop, Caricom makes it easier to look for a better situation, but it’s basically the same…it would be interesting to check in to see if these ladies are still there long term like over five years…I enjoy the conversion, good to hear expat perspectives.
Great program, I have lived in the North Coast of Jamaica 16 years now, I can tell my girl in Kingston is living an expensive life. She can have the same quality of life, much quieter life, good internet connection for a lot less in the country sides.
Jamaica, tropical Island; Acres of emerald lusciousness. Luminous mountains. Moon-shine country side. Blue sky blanket and misty morning. Surely, all lifestyles is possible on the Island. Just get hook up with the right people. Try to be lowkey until you get accustomed to the lifestyles. Be respectful to customs. This discourse is fantastic.
I would visit all the islands but maybe only live in Barbados. I've been many times and the safety factor, walkability (in certain areas), public transit options, etc are most important to me.
But that is from your perspective - have you ever visited any other Caribbean island. It's me telling you that I hate eating conch because it is nasty, when it fact I have never eaten it
Stephanie, I enjoy your content so much and am so proud of you for coming close to joining that 100,000 subscribers club. You definitely deserve that number and more .💖❤️
Thank you Stephanie, Clarice, Zoe Smith, and Jamila White. Sharing is the highest form of caring in my book. The information you are sharing is very valuable. Have a wonderful safe weekend everyone.🤩🤩🤩
I love how diverse this conversation was. The ladies touched on so many important points that are relevant to an expat. Barbados was definitely collecting points in this conversation (visa, internet access, rules about the beach etc.) but all of the ladies represented the islands well. Thanks for sharing
I spent some time in Barbados a few years ago, and I didn't enjoy it. The people I encountered weren't friendly, which was the first Caribbean Island I'd been to where I felt that way. I also didn't like the food, but the beaches were amazing! But Jamila is making me want to try again.
" I get to be a floater and a dreamer" Yes! That's the feeling. I feel so in control of my narrative in the Tropics. I've been living in Honduras off and on over the past four years. I stayed a year and a half straight during the pandemic. Went August 2019 for my second trip there after being gone for five months...At first I was just feeling in out but after the third visit.... I know it's home. Feels good to my heart... literally warms my heart. 💚
Stephenie , great content , I love to see sisterhood between black women ! I guess it would be a little more challenging ,to get residence in Jamaica ,due to the fact that the population is much larger than the other islands ! Jamaica population 3 million , Barbados 300 thousand , Carousel 160 thousand and Granada 150 thousand so there would be more challenges to get residences in Jamaica! The reason why I love Barbados is because the people have a more subtle and polite demeanor ! The people in Jamaica are very friendly and nice but can also can be a little too boisterous but the objective at the end of the day , is for us all to get along and see the good in each other and let our inner spirit guide us to contentment ,where ever that might be ! 😊
I love the concept of moving towards joy. I kept looking at Jamila, thinking she looked liked someone I've met. Indeed she is. Congratulations, on your move.
Unfortunate fact, the culture of carribean men is they have multiple baby mommas . I have heard thus from Jamaican and Bahamian men AND women. It is encouraged, as it's equated to male verility and strength. My driver once bragged he had 17 kids with like 12 women . You just know he an never have enough money OR TIME to support and raise this many kids in different households. SMDH! Poverty and dysfunction perpetuated! Many men in other cultures also have a reputation as cheaters, especially Italian men . All this to say they may hit on us, but they are not offering the relationship we seek unfortunately, and it's still "a man's world". So while I dream of relocating to somebody's Island, finding a good man there is slim to none!
💯 on point. Italian MEN are known to be womanizers. Muslim men just wanna have a Fun, but when it’s time to settle, they will with a Muslim sister. All these MEN abroad fetishizes Black Women & wanna have FUN, but they are not considering US for a Wife. Keep it moving 🙄!
Not all. There are many who are not like that. They love black women but if a woman comes from another country and doesn't have pride for herself and goes around with every man, then they won't say no. However, if you adhere to the moral values and carry yourself properly then you will attract the right men, as you would anywhere. This is negative energy. You get what you put out. I'm from the Caribbean and the men in my life are not that way. There are many who are single without kids and carry the old fashion family life values.
Jamaican Men brags a lot about nine kids, seven different Women. Most of these Dudes R the same. My Granny Husband died in England when she was 38 years old. Granny never take another man. She was 97 when she died, so living without a man won't kill U. Some of them don't know if they Gay or Straight.
@@saigejones3363 Not yet because Barbados has one too so I'm in Barbados right now trying to see which one I'll do!! But honestly I think Bahamas still might win lol I'll be back!
A UA-camr to watch is Throp, if you want to know more about moving to Jamaica, he does podcast and interviews with expats and repats. Very informative. I don't miss an episode.
Yes, i am a big fan of Throp also, black Expat Repat Jamaica and Throp are my go to information. I plan to relocate back home to JA eventually. for now, just visiting every summer.
Such an excellent discussion! I am seriously considering an island move now, I think Barbados got it for me! Thank you for another awesome, informative discussion!
Queens I am of the utmost belief that TMH reveals what’s needed to progress… you ladies have shed such light on what’s been the darkest situation for years… it’s been on my mind a few times but those around me hushed the idea… I must follow my path. I’ve given myself a goal and I’m going to obtain it. THANK YOU! Thank you for sharing! Be blessed Queens
Hello young ladies, love the topic and discourse. I am so private, would be the type to not want the chatty house help. My sister lived in Jamaica and often talks about that 'help" problem, and the danger it can cause. She does all her housework, just keeps it clean, and is purposeful about her functioning. I am a new Grenadian citizen by inheritance, from my late Grenadian Dad, but covid has delayed my departure. Relate to a lot of what my younger Grenadian sister Zoe says.
Your sister is correct. We had hired help as a child. My sister and I vowed we will never have hired help in our houses as adults. I haven't. Especially if she's married keep them out. Good look on Grenada .
Granada is my choice. In a prior video you mentioned Costa Rica had no military and invested in social services. I was curious about these countries. Another great show Stephanie!
What people do not seem to understand is that Costa Rica achieved their goal through education - the only country in Central America that is stable and have a high standard of living. Education is the key to one's success and Costa Rica like Singapore realizes that for both countries to compete with the Western Countries they have to be educated. Once a person is educated, no one can take that away - it's yours for life and it opens doors in other parts of the world for you.
Just came by the video single , mom of 1. Am 54 yrs old u ladies , made me cry of joy am wanting to move thankyou so much sharing. Am not a high roller , at all I can relate . Don't forget to change out money into local currency at the bank or currency exchange place, to get more for the money. Thank you all for sharing your information. We - Diaspora are enjoying 😎 hearing 👂 what choices we may have as we look around for interesting places to try. Like you say feeling safe, is tops on the list. Yes 3 women in government positions in Barbados’s my grand mom was born there later came to New York very interested in obtaining 2nd passport from Barbados

I definitely was thinking South Carolina being culturally different regarding being in your business lol. I relocated over thirty years ago from NYC where I was born & raised. South Carolina was appealing to me for a number of reasons but surprised me with the cultural differences. I traveled internationally so knew to expect cultural differences in those instances; didn't expect such a difference within the u.s. You live and learn.

Wow Thank you SO much for this video, I’ve been island hunting for a year trying to decide which one is best for us long term!!! Barbados and Grenada was on my list🏝❤️
Jamila and Zoe did an AWESOME job selling their Islands. I think Clarice need to learn more about Jamaica so she can offer more details about life on the Island.
Thank you for your comment, because I felt the same too. She was not ready. After listening to her introduction, I was read to switch to something else. She reminds me of someone who does not read - it was very disappointing. Was she the best person they could find
@@shirmelduggins9984 and Ingababy1 Please be careful ladies. For as one criticizes another, it often brings attention to ones own state of affairs. @@creoleladee -- I am sorry but you are WRONG in your analysis; both ladies are correct. This American lady clearly is uneducated and not well-read or well traveled. As a Jamaican, she is NOT qualified to speak about the pros, cons, Geography, topography, housing, culture, etc. She clearly was struggling to articulate her points as she does not know much about Jamaica. I felt so embarrassed as soon as she started speaking. I can tell you she is NOT living in the upscale parts of Kingston as her "internet connection "would most certainly not be choppy. Please find a better representative of Jamaica than an American who is in love with Jamaica but lacks the indepth knowledge required to speak about the island. Thank you.

Middle class Jamaicans employ help at home…..my family had one full time and other person came in once weekly to do laundry plus full time gardener. My Mom was a teacher and Dad an senior electrician
I did travel to Bahamas, Honduras,Coco cay and back to Miami in Royal Caribbean cruise..I loved all my port of call.. Caribbean people are very nice and warm.. I would love to try Jamaica next..
I'm Jamaican and I am embarrassed to say I have never been to any of the other islands. But now I'm looking for a 2nd home away from home. I'll be paying very close attention.
Not being funny, that is the problem with a lot of Jamaicans, they do not venture away from their own island to see that the other island are just like theirs, but may be smaller. It stunts their overall view of the Caribbean
@@shirmelduggins9984 For me, it's because I think the other islands are just like Jamaica that I wasn't interested before. I don't think it affects my view of the other Islands, though I could be wrong. But you should hear all the ridiculous views I have personally heard other islanders say about us
I'm Jamaican and I travel to other island. Aruba in my opinion is the best. No crime, no hurricane, free health insurance for everyone, low cost of living except food prices are high, friendly people. My husband dropped his money at a restaurant and his $200 headphones. He went to the restaurant after realizing he dropped the headphones, they handed him his money which he didn't realized he dropped and the headphones. This would never happened in Jamaica, those workers would of stole his money and headphones. Aruba is extremely clean, no trash on the grounds outside, beaches are free. The entire island is clean, no potholes no where on the island unlike Jamaica
I’m a year late to this party, but ohhhhhh what an informative video!!! Gotta go scour your video library for more Caribbean countries for black expat women. GREAT TOPIC and great panel! Thx ladies!!
It so funny, but if you give Jamila a chance she would take over the whole show and also have you running to book your ticket to Barbadoes. Jamaica won for me and Grenada also free wifi is now in almost every parish in Jamaica and starbucks.

@@rosalinelowe972 why? They will sleep with the husband/ boyfriend or I should say the island husband/boyfriend will sleep with the help and often have kids with them. Don't let them. They will also sleep with the teenage boys in the family. It's not a secret on the island. Don't let them cook
for you either. They will also "carry news" on the wife to the husband.

What a BEAUTIFUL group of women!
Zoe, you had me feeling every word about how you feel looking around you and feeling free, seeing images of us on money and teachers that your children see that look like them. This is deep.
Thank you! It really does make a difference to our sense of well-being.
Well done, ladies.
I just want say 😉💄 dont feel stress or worried about picking the right or wrong country
CARICOM & The AU (African Union) =have passports..
Yes its got everything, but the crime is a worry
@@idesireit31 , Crime is in almost all the Caribbean countries- Trinidad, DR, Barbados, Antigua.... I get to understand that crime in Jamaica is very complicated. Most of it is concentrated in certain areas/parts of the country. It's almost mostly gang-related and scamming-related. If you have a small circle of friends/choose your friends carefully, you should be fine. I am from NYC, and trust me, I can tell you about crime.
Please - Jamaica is just like all the other Caribbeans Island - only bigger
They have the same problems with health care, customer service, etc. Beautiful houses, beaches, free WI-Fi, good food and entertainments, decent public transportation, excellent government schools, rivers, caves, etc.
Shawn Johnson, you are just so right on Jamaica, nothing missing, nothing needed.
The comments Jamila made about unrealistic expectations of black women doing everything really resonated with me. I felt that in my soul ❤️🤔
Black women all over the world have work hard.
Our ancestors had to work hard to keep the family together - so really nothing have changed
Same. A few months ago I hired a woman who runs her own laundry service. She picks up my laundry and brings it back clean and dry. You wouldnt believe the judgement I am getting from family and friends.
Stephanie is a fantastic host and moderator. I love her panels/interviews. Our good sis is goals.🙂
You all inspire me! I want to live in the Caribbean!!
Barbados for the Wifi for me 😅. I like all the islands and kno I would adapt well to any of them discussed. I need that wifi tho so thats what will probably influence my decision the most so my calls and internet connection wont drop
I love how she is promoting Barbados
I believe Barbados is moving in the right direction with a woman as the leader and its connection to Africa, but for me to move, it would be Africa to be really feel free…I think those who go to the islands have some kind of family ties….
locals island hop, Caricom makes it easier to look for a better situation, but it’s basically the same…it would be interesting to check in to see if these ladies are still there long term like over five years…I enjoy the conversion, good to hear expat perspectives.
were are asians taking over, what islands
Love moon-shine ✨
I would visit all the islands but maybe only live in Barbados. I've been many times and the safety factor, walkability (in certain areas), public transit options, etc are most important to me.
Things are the best in Jamaica, im living in canada, cant wait to move to Jamaica, the greenery, food, people they are Awesome people.
But that is from your perspective - have you ever visited any other Caribbean island.

I am only 5 mins. in, and I'm loving this already! @Stephanie This was such a great idea.👍🏾
Why not find a guy where you live then both move to wherever. Keep him away from local women. They can be predators and barefaced.
@@layla8647 100% right, the fetishism is real
Barbados is quite safe for women traveling also the Cayman Island but it's really small
Very true about the Chinese buying up Grenada. I’ve been several times and it’s sad to see. I think I’m leaning more towards Barbados.
I’m so happy for these sisters who have found their PEACE in the Caribbean. I can’t wait to move back home.

Please be careful ladies. For as one criticizes another, it often brings attention to ones own state of affairs.
In reading both of your complaints what leaped out to me was the misspellings, and lack of punctuation etc in both of your comments.
Allow her the grace you would want for yourself.

I can tell you she is NOT living in the upscale parts of Kingston as her "internet connection "would most certainly not be choppy.
