Just threw a new one on my friend's 97 F250HD. Really firmed the pedal up but that could also be the horrible brake fluid. Outrageous the cost. When mine goes out, might be a bypass. That said, i travel in the mountain passes so any form of ABS is helpful.
Yea it seems like they have been price gouging lately because a lot of places don't have them in stock anymore. Kind of ridiculous. And I agree, I'd rather have ABS than not.
The one on the truck was original and that lasted about 28 years, with 217,000 miles. Since I won't be driving the truck more than 5,000 miles per year, I figured I would just replace it.
I just replaced wheel cylinders and front calipers. I've heard so many different techniques on bleeding this system. With electrical power to pressure bleeding. I'm going to give this a try.
Nice How To! What was your symptom that caused you to replace the RABS module? On my 98 F150 with 215K on the clock I have the ABS light coming on intermittently. I replaced the magnetic sensor on top of the diff, but it did not solve it. I wonder how these modules fail?
Thanks! I actually didn't have any issues, I just decided to replace it since I replaced all of my break lines. I'm not 100% sure why they fail, but if I was a betting man I would look into the seals inside. Those are typically the first to go in these types of mechanisms. Sometimes the light will come on if you are low on brake fluid, so make sure you check that first. Let me know how it goes!
this looks similar to the system we have on our 89' F250. After watching your video, i would guess it's the same. We have no idea why the warning light is on.
Yea man, i felt like it was time to get all new parts in this truck. I did record myself replacing those lines, however it did not come out very good. I will release those videos at some point though.
It seems like a lot of places are our of stock now. I would check by your local parts store and see if they can get one for you. It seems like the supply chain is still having issues. Let me know how it goes!
A lot of places are sold out right now unfortunately. You can try your local parts store, or even a Ford dealer if you haven't already. Hopefully someone has one they can get for you! Let me know how it goes!
Thank you! Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about a camera. If you have a newer iPhone, or Samsung (I have a Galaxy S23 Ultra), that will work just fine. That's what I've been using for these videos now. They have amazing cameras that work great.
Oh yea absolutely. We have a ton of tripods we use to keep the phone steady. Occasionally we have to worry about lighting, but for the most part these phones adjust to low light areas pretty well.
Do you mean the ABS Module? That can be found here. amzn.to/4bf5JL8 If you do mean the proportional valve, I reused my old one, but you can find a new one here: amzn.to/3SrXjaC
Try this one. This is where I ordered mine because amazon keeps running out. Let me know how it goes! www.carparts.com/details/Ford/F-350/A1_Cardone/ABS_Hydraulic_Unit/1994/A1122024.html?TID=gglpla&origin=pla&gad_source=1&gclsrc=aw.ds
My van has over 300,000 miles and I have no idea how old any of the parts are so I just went all in on everything new master cylinder new rabs new wheel speed sensor replaced it all. The result was the light on dash went out the break pedal is now firm, and now I am thinking i should check the rear drums and pads but haven't looked at that yet. thanks again for your helpful video.@@TrickShiftGarage
That's what we love to hear! The brake pedal in my 95 F150 feels much better than it did before. I replaced everything on that truck, including the brake lines. I love that we keep these older trucks and vans running strong!

These modules are outrageously expensive and fail repeatedly. I just removed it completely and bypassed the brake lines.

Is this same part for 1994 Ford f150 with RABS?
Yes it should be. I believe this is basically the same module they used from the 80's until 1996 (1997 for Superduty Trucks).

Yea I believe Ford used it for many years. Let me know if it fixes your problem!
I see you replaced all the break lines. I plan to do the same.

Hmmm i been chasing down squishy pedals.... i think this is prob. So theres no frony module? Always just rear (rabs)
I believe the OBS F150's only had ABS in the rear.
Are there any alternative part numbers that could work?

Where did you buy it. Can't find it

Great video! I need to get a computer and camera so i can do some repair videos as well.

@TrickShiftGarage true! I do quite a few videos on my channel. Maybe just a good adjustable phone stand would be good to have!

Warning: use a wheel chalk
Yea, definitely use wheel chocks if jacking up a vehicle or going on ramps. My truck was on jacks all around, so it wasn't necessary.
Thanks, this video was helpful
Anytime, thank you for watching! 🤟
Where did you purchase the ABS proportional valve assembly. And how much.
My truck is 97 F250HD 7.3. Dealing with pedal fade with engine on. Thanks.

that's the valve not the module
I thought the valve was inside of the module?
