Hey Everyone, thanks for watching. Be sure to check out what's happening with this truck nowadays. I'm completely rebuilding it from the ground up. You can follow this link for the playlist. Thanks!

Thanks man! 95 F250 7.3, changed TPS pedal assembly, and thanks to your video, I was able to replace my brake light switch. WHAT A HUGE DIFFERENCE! New switch, and everything is awesome. Thanks man
Great video. Just a warning. I have a 1996 F250 XLT. Wasn’t paying attention when I took the old one out. Turns out my switch is 180 degrees opposite from yours when you put it on the pivot point between the brake pedal and the brake master cylinder rod. It will go on just like yours, but the brake lights won’t work. Took me a couple hours of testing before I figured out my mistake. Experience is a cruel teacher lol. Thanks for taking the time to make the video. Best of luck
Thanks. You made this project entirely simple and completely understandable. Great video. Thanks again.
Helped immensely! The black grommet fell out without me seeing where it came from. Could not get it back together until I watched your video. It saved me!!!
Thank You! I wasn't sure where the plastic bushing went back into place as it fell to the floor as I pulled the switch out!
Thank God ford and chevy didn't change much over the years and thanks for showing me now i can replace the brake light switch on dad's bronco
Thank you! I had mine apart and couldn't remember how it went back in... but i also had the orientation of the booster arm wrong.
Appreciate it bro for the complete walk through. I was able to fix my truck without paying someone to do it for me.
That's the point, good work!
I am about to attempt this in a motorhome. Pray for me....meanwhile, this vid was a lifesaver! thanks!
Thanks for taking the time to make this great video. Can't thank you enough!
Not a problem. I'm glad you liked it.
Cotter pin can be removed by hand its weirdly shaped but if you look at it carefully you'll see that you need to turn the pin just a bit then it just pulls off, but pliers are also my go to lol.
I am just now dealing with the same issue because my cruise control won't come back on thank you for showing me how you were one of the first videos to pop up, I have a 94 Ranger it it looks exactly the same I wasn't exactly sure if it was a C pin or not
Thanks for the video,i just installed a new brake light switch on my 1980 f100,and the brake lights work great. Thanks again.
Thanks for making & posting this video...... got it done!
Best Regards,
Jon
Great great bro I just fixed mine thank you!! Keep the videos keeping
Thanks, you helped me. I did not pay attention to how it was positioned and I needed to see how to install.
I had no idea my switch was going bad until I got in & couldn't shift it one day. Got the part, five minutes with a leatherman and barely any blood. I was worried that linkage was going to be a nightmare. Thanks for the walkthrough!
Glad it helped, thanks for watching!
Thanks very much made this replacement very easy!!!!
Well explained great video
Thanks! Clear and simple just like DIY videos should be!!!
Thank you so much.
exactly the info i needed.thanks buddy!
Ahh your a life saver, I bought a 92 ranger that the switch was completely missing and for some reason I couldn't wrap my mind around how it set in.
got’er did on my 96 Ranger thanks, man!!
Excellent. You saved me a bunch of heart ache.
Great Vid thanks.. There should be a washer on the outside where the cotter pin is though.
Thank you for your video, it was very helpful!
I bought a used truck a year ago and that part was in the glove. I said to myself what the hell is that. Somehow I ended up here and now I know. That's incredible
Great video I had a 94 Ford Explorer everything looks similar do you think I would be able to do it the same way and what tools would I need
Bravo! Excellent help.
So thankful for UA-cam I pulled mine off and didn’t watch how it went back on 😂😂
same thing here😂😂
2022 Sept. I Removed that brushed, cleaned with Acetone , Made it come back to life again ......
Easy fix that worked for my 94 ranger. Thank you.
Glad it worked out!
I'm replacing my junk/ wimpy vac booster with a hydro unit (yes its a stock part for my f350 7.3ps) and I'm struggling to reinstall booster rod with switch and now I know it's doable with booster and pedal bolted tight. I got thr pedal out of a 94 f series with hydro and the hydro and vac booster have matching part numbers between the 2 trks. I can't wait to feel the difference I've read between vac and hydro boosted brakes since I tow a 13k trl. The fun part will be getting the new stock power steering lines installed
Dude, thank you so much for making this video.
I'm glad it helped!
Yes thanks, it fixed my problem was about to take it to a mechanic, 7 dollars later fixed.
I almost got rear ended twice. My brake lamps work but only when I slam on the brakes. Going to replace this part and I hope it works.
Hope it worked out for you!
Did u ever figure out how to make them come on sooner?
Thank you! Huge help!
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the info
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
thanks!, very good explanation!
Is the green wire the hot wire or common to switch? And the black is the ground I guess. I’m building a wiring harness for my 86 mustang. I gutted all the factory wiring and I’m running the AutoRod Controls relay bread board, and the Painless radio delete switch panel for my break light, taillight, headlights, nitrous bottle blanket, and nitrous purge solenoid. I can figure it out if I can’t find any quick information. I’m just seeing if there’s any other information available. Thanks for the video.
Gracias saludos desde Tijuana México 🇲🇽 gracias por compartir
If anyone is ever wondering it’s the same for the LTD as well
True to 2002 crown vic its the same part
Choice video, great, thanks very nice!
Another video mentioned that the round bushing can often be uneven, resulting in faulty operation. He micro measured two, and each had variable thickness, altho' one still worked while the other didn't.
Es lo que estaba buscando , que pena que no está en español , pero me sirve mucho , muchas gracias.
Thanks for the video I'm pretty sure now what's wrong with my brake lights
Hey thanks for the video! This might be a stupid question but what is the orientation of the video? haha like is the top of the screen the front of the vehicle or have you take a wheel off? Thanks
'87 here, thanks!!
excellent video man!
Appreciate it! I hope it helped!
Does that work the four ways too in the back??????? Thanks, Roland
Also works for '80 foxbody mustangs. Thanks!
Exactly what I was looking for!!🦊👍
How should the switch be pointed when installed? Mine looks like it's pointed down to the floorboard... Does this make a difference?
I wonder what makes parts like this go bad, and I wonder if you can just open them up and maybe solder something or fix them somehow
Thanks. I'm gonna tackle this today.
Hope it worked out for you!
Thank You
I changed the brake switch on my but I really have to press hard on the pedal to get the lights to go on
Thank you.
This'll work for a '97 f150 as well, just thought I'd let you know.
Great video. On mine, somehow the brake lights stay on when I put everything back together. Not sure where I went wrong. I have two white plastic washers. One that goes on before the rubber one and last right before the pin. Seems to be to tight for some dumb reason.
Me too.
Thank you!
What are the chances of this switch, also control your backup lights
What holds the switch in place? It seems to just be hanging from the pedal...thanks.
Could you explain the wires that the switch plugs into? What wires do what? On my 95 f150, the switch plugs into a plug that has two green wires that come out. What are those two little green wires? I would like to tap into the one that activates the taillights and put a ON/OFF switch on it. So when I hit the switch it will cut power off to my tail lights.
Thanks!!
I changed it and the brake booster but the brake lights don’t work. Is there any thoughts on this?
I have a white bushing, and I took this apart so long ago doing a zf5 swap, that I don't remember where the plastic white bushing goes
My parking brake switch/ light only seems to pop on occasionally, most of the time the light doesn't pop on though
Thanks!
thank you sir
Works for 04 Mustang gt
So I have similar issue my brake lights sometimes go on and sometimes they don’t I’ve checked fuses and the taillight harness and found nothing wrong with it could this be my issue the brake switch possibly going bad?
Any chance my truck is blowing break light fuses because this switch is bad? Or does the issue likely lie elsewhere?
What's the plastic ring for
Is the switch adjustable??
Good video Joe, very informative. Question, what are the symptoms of a faulty brake light switch...aside from the obvious...My F150's lights are all out of whack and I'm trying to rule out different problems, just noticed the switch last night. Thanks in advance.
What's the difference between sls95t and sls97t?
thanks!
Great presentation Need a better closeup on the switch assemble washer location.
I dne all but lights want come on when on brake pedal. I need help cause lights wer once jus stuck on before changing old switch now jus third brake light come on. But not left an right light
Thanks dude
Hope it helped, thanks for watching!
What if my lights won't turn off would it be the same problem
Glad you did the video but you blocked the way the u part of the switch goes weather it's up or down . The plastic o ring that goes in next to the cotter pin .
I have a weird problem wonder if this is it or any help. My brake lights only 1 comes on. 1991 ford f150. Tail lights come on both sides but only 1 brake light comes on when brake applied. They are the same bulbs 2 filaments. I've replaced bulb and fuse. Could it be this or I was thinking a short in the wire leading to the light.
Thanks man
Thanks for watching!
Does a faulty break light switch prevent you from being able to shift out of park? I have a 1993 ford f 150 and I’m not able to shift out of park when the brake is pressed
That is a good question. I'm not entirely sure, but it's possible. I would have to study a wiring diagram to know for sure. Maybe someone else will come along and help us out with the answer.
Thanks
how about this one.no tail lights, all outher lights works.when I step on brake fuel pump kicks on....
Just FYI as well this works for a Ford Taurus the 1994 version it’d just the rod goes to the passenger side so the switch is reversed
Good to know! Thanks for the input.
Thank you for the video, is the same for a 97’ f150?
Might be, but I couldn't be sure. Check part images online and compare it to what you see in the video. I wish I could be of more help.
Yes just a different part number
A big fucking THANK YOU!
Same problem.. thank you
Glad it might have helped! Thanks for watching.
Great video. Just relaced mine. I could not have done it without your video.
What is that white wire? My connector only has 2 greens
is it adjustable? I have to press my brake pedal all the way down for the light to come on.
I was having the same problem, bought the new switch now they work fine
My 1977 is exactly the same cept the electric connector is 2 separate wires That's where you might get on backwards im thinking
So... I woke up this morning and both of my brakelights don't work on my 91 F250... My hazard flashers work so that allowed me to rule out the fuse... In the past someone jerry rigged some trailer lights into the system and they have never worked and side effects of their backwoods installation have only caused me problems (like the rear wire harness I didnt know was tucked behind the bumper falling down and shorting everything out when it got torn up on the highway)... Anyhow, I've replaced so much on this truck I can only assume this is next...
It might be a good idea to head to a wrecking yard and grab a harness from a donor truck. Even if it's not in great shape, you could repair a harness as it was meant to be and replace the headache you've been dealing with. Something to consider. You seem like you know what you're doing, so I imagine you've already thought of this.
@@GettinJunkDone Turns out, firing off my hazards (for the first time ever) fried the brakelight part of the , hazard/turnsignal/brakelight master switch in the steering column... Which totally sucked....
I just fixed this issue. The switch will slightly move causing the lights not to come on. I have to constantly reposition the switch. Any recommendations? 1995 F350
There's got to be a way to secure it in the correct position. Bending the it slightly, using washers, zipties. time to get creative.
Nice
brake lights are not working on my F seria 95 desial
O'! Good video. 🙃
Thanks!
Can't make my switch work, any ideas
