This is flight 18 of 33 from my recent trip where I flew around the world. At the end of September through the beginning of October, I set out to fly around the Earth, and after 16 days, 13 airlines, 33 flights, and over 38,000 miles, I landed back in Kansas City, Missouri after visiting 13 different countries. Over the next 5 weeks I'll be posting these flights in order, so you too can take this incredible journey, exactly as I did! The flights will be posted every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday until all 33 flights are live! So, check back three times every week to take this incredible journey with me! WOWOWOWOWOW!!! He's off on the next leg of his Amazing Race around the world!! I admit that seeing HND made me think of the scene in War of The Gargantuas where the green creature attacks HND. Anyhow, I got X-Mas gifts for another 2 people on my X-Mas list. I've gotten all of the ones for my GF, including her Hanukkah gifts, got that all taken care of. So... almost time for Interstellar to come back to the Big Screen.
One thing that I enjoy even more about your videos is that you do not try to "correct' the camera's angle to be "parallel" with the ground on takeoff/landing (hopefully I'm making sense). Or maybe you're just going with the flow and this aspect never crossed your mind (which is fine too lol). Probably a small thing for most people, but for me, it's one thing when I am in the plane myself, but when watching a video of a takeoff from a plane, if the videographer tries to "correct" the camera angle, it just doesn't feel natural, since I'm not the one flying. Also, that was a short takeoff roll, gotta love the triple. And the view of Fujiyama was fantastic. Great video as always!
I know exactly what you mean and it’s a conscious decision. I too can’t stand when the camera is leveled off with the ground. My videos are leveled with the fuselage and that angle doesn’t change through the whole flight. Well; there will be minor adjustments since I hold the camera by hand. I’m good at it but not perfect 😂. But they’re tiny movements. I want my videos to accurately represent the pitch of the plane during the whole flight, not be leveled with the ground or horizon. Some people have asked why I don’t use a gimbal, and first I say because they’re heavy and bulky. And second, because they freak out and try to re-level the camera over and over during takeoff and landing. I’ve seen videos people have posted from takeoffs using a gimbal and it looks horrendous 😂.
And, we were also super light on this flight. There was only like 60 people on the plane and we likely had a pretty light fuel load too. So that probably helped a lot on the takeoff roll.
@@sla31 I had a feeling you made that decision but wasn't completely sure lol - again much appreciated, and that is some good insight into your approach to recording! And I think considering you hold the camera for the entire time that you're recording, you've pretty much nailed down the technique. It really does make a difference and adds to the pleasure of watching it. Also, the light load explains the short takeoff roll as well. While not the most powerful on the triple, the PWs can still pack some power!
No, we have not gotten snow yet this year. We've been having below feeling temperatures since Halloween, but we haven't had any snow yet. The precipitation we've gotten between then and now has happened during the day when the temperatures were above freezing.
I book all of my flights through the airlines actual website. So, this ticket was booked directly through ANA on their domestic Japan website. The upcoming flights on Japan Airlines were booked through Japan Airlines' domestic website, etc. I always book all flights directly with each airline.
He films everything on this channel with iPhones. In terms of how he films these flights, it’s hard but takes time to practice and eventually got used to it. He never uses a mount or anything to film these flights. Instead he holds the camera by hand, even on longer flights too. That way, the footage is smooth and not distorted, blurred or shaky.
@@lcfcalvin yup. All filmed by hand, even the long flights. It's definitely a unique skill I've developed over the years. I'm not sure how useful it is in the grand scheme of things, but man... I can hold a camera steady for a long time haha.
Well, it's kind of a long story so I'll try to give you the brief one. I started this channel almost 10 years ago now. At the time I was working for Envoy Air (American Airlines) and I had flight benefits. I was flying a lot since I could do it for free so I started to film some of the takeoffs and landings. However, it wasn't long after I started the channel that I switched jobs and started working as an aircraft rescue firefighter instead. I made more money doing that than working for American, but I lost my flight benefits. So, since 2016, which is about a year after I started the channel, I have paid for everything on here out of my own pocket. I've never had flight benefits again, and I don't have some relative who has them and I just use them haha. I pay for what you see on here. And for years the majority of that came out of my own pocket and my own disposable income. Over the years, the channel had become a big part of my life and it kind of turned into my hobby. I wasn't making anything doing it, but I was willing to shell out my own disposable income to keep it alive. As time has gone on it has grown bigger and bigger and eventually I did start to make some money off of the ad revenues and Patreon supporters. But I was still pumping my own money into it too. By... Oh... 2020ish things started to swing the other direction. By then, I was actually starting to have months where I was actually covering all of my travel expenses with the ad revenues and Patreon support. Like, some months I was breaking even. And as it continued to grow even more, in January of 2022, I actually left my job as a firefighter and have been running the channel full time. So it took about 7 years of grinding and hard work... And a lot of my own money haha. But this channel eventually grew to the point where it was paying me to do this. So now, after all those years, I can afford to fly like this thanks to you and everyone else who watches and helps support the channel. But it's only been relatively recent that has been the case. So thanks for watching my friend. I really do appreciate it. Because without you and everyone else taking the time to watch, I wouldn't be able to do this at the level I do.
As always, the "onboard service" chapter marker shows you exactly what they served. If the video doesn't have an "onboard service" chapter then they didn't serve anything.

@sla31 i appreciate the effort and TIME you put into these videos! When you say full flight you really mean it. From Pushback and startup to engines off all the key moments in flight have no cuts whatsoever and that's why I love your channel. Thank you brother and you have a interesting story
I certainly like the A350 a lot. Honestly the A350 and the 777 are probably pretty close in my books. I definitely like the A350 a lot more than the 787, that's for sure.
You know there is a reply button under every single comment on UA-cam. You’re just asking a question to him instead of me, of course my names there, but still. Yes, New Pacific Airlines stop commercial flights and wanted to focus on charter flights only.

Always blown away by how massive the 777's engines are.
Haneda is a great airport! Can't wait to see whats next!
While playing a game, I have this video playing in the background. Love it.
Those engines are massive!!!
Not as massive as GE90 Engines, but PW4000’s are bigger than RR Trent 800’s

Great fly! Did you guys get snowed yet?
