Finally! A person that can give us directions that are slow enough to understand and you speak to us like people not idiots. Thanks man. You just landed another follower. Cant wait to see what else you offer.
The HLG setting gives you a wider color gamut than the G-Log setting (REC2020 versus REC709). It also has a gamma curve that is log-like. Another advantage of the HLG setting is that it is a standard, so one can use built-in transforms in editors and do not have to use LUTS, which are imprecise and dependent on EV settings. Right now with D-Log M you have to use the DJI LUT.
Why can't I find any tutorials for how to color grade HLG on davinci resolve for the dji osmo pocket 3? I want to use HLG but not sure how since i'm very new to this. Any advice or videos I can use?
@flightjam The advantage of HLG is that it is a standard, and the transform from HLG to REC709 is built into Resolve. You just choose daVinci color management and choose the input gamut as REC2020, the gamma as HLG and the timline and output as REC709. No LUT, no special grading. It's even possible that in color management you just choose REC709 as the automatic preset, and daVinci will know from the clip metadata that the original clips are HLG.
@@markr041 great thank you for this. After I do that I can follow any color grading tutorial for DaVinci resolve like how to use nodes and such and such?
Terry, THIS is the nitty gritty info I needed for a docuseries I am producing to get this device as close to cinematic, etc as I can with it's limited (but impressive) possibilities. I am certainly a subscriber now. Thanks again!
Terry, Thanks for the great video and valuable information. My OP3 was actually delivered while I was watching this video. Followed along and was up and running in minutes. Appreciate you!
Great Video, Glad I came across it, finally figured out why I couldn't get good video with setting up my custom settings, I never turned it on first. LOL, Again great work. Keep it up.
Thanks for the tips Terry! Waiting on my Osmo Pocket 3 to be delivered, and consuming a whole lotta videos on tips and tricks right now. Really enjoyed your video - thanks for explaining the controls and making this super easy to understand!
Hey bro! Here is the question. If I use this camera with my canon as A and B cams… would it be possible to match colours? Is it just by adjusting white balance or there are some additional adjustments?
If you want a perfect match, you would need to get a color chart to match each camera exactly. You can get it good enough by eyeballing it and most people wouldn’t even notice
T Dub, yet another awesome video - the information is well organized and very clear - ULTRA-MEGA-SUPER-THANKS!!! This video is like a perfect example for others to follow . . . just fix that unaligned pillow on your chair 😆
Been a HUGE DJI Fanboy for years (owned the OG Pocket, Pocket 2, the OG Action, Phantom 3 Pro, Mavic Mini, and the Air 2). Can't wait to get my hands on the Pocket 3...really think it could add value to the content I'm looking to put together. Great rundown!! I'm now a subscriber as well!! Keep it up!
Another cool thing you can do when you are in the exposure menu is while in manual mode you can select an iso range on the right but if you want the shutter to be auto you can tap the EV in the top left and switch to EV mode instead of shutter speed on the left side! Interesting!!
great rundown, P3 could easily be integrated as part of a film kit for establishing scenes and being able to keep your A cam setup without needing to switch lenses, re-balance gimbals etc
Certainly! Here's a refined version of your message: Thank you, Terry! I used your affiliate link to purchase my Sony ZV1. I noticed the fire alarm noise you mentioned, changing the battery will make it stop beeping. LOL. Hope this tip helps!
Good stuff, I have it already. You gave a couple of good tips I could use. I colorgrade in Davinci. I am looking forward to your method of grading Dlog. I am a canon guy.
Dope video im about to get the pocket 3 too..but Question I stuck on what camera show I buy next sony fx30 a6700 or canon r8 which one would you prefer I'm just doing vlogging content
Thanks for your Pocket 3 videos Terry. Very good and helpful. I just received my Pocket 3 today and my initial impressions are very positive. I''m looking forward to re-watching this video with my Pocket 3 in hand. My go-to camera for the past few years has been the BMPCC4K. I shoot mainly corporate testimonials and how-to videos. In your opinion do you think a Pocket 3 might be a viable alternative to a BMPCC4K for corporate videos?
I'm looking forward to more P3 content. I don't understand this - If I shoot in Pro Mode, change settings to Auto, and on EV set it say to -.07, does this really mean that in Auto, the camera will try to keep it at that level always, and then the only other thing that really is changing is the ISO range (I use 50-3200)?
The handle is supposed to charge the main battery so unless the main battery is already 100% then the handle will drain into it, even when switched off.
Thanks for the reply. When the battery handle is connected, both batteries 100%, camera turned off. When I next turn the camera on the handle is at 80%, camera still 100%. So not sure if camera battery drained and was topped up by handle as you described, or the handle battery drained. Disconnected them last night and this morning both had lost just 1%, which is fine. Now going to leave them connected for a similar length of time and see if them being connected is part of the problem. Thanks again for the reply.
Great video! Very informative! I have the Pocket 2 creator pack for over 2 years, and am looking to update. Do you think it is worth it to get the creator pack for 3 or just the camera?
@@TerryWarfield One more question. Do you have to put on/off the ND filter every time you turn on/off the camera? I’m hoping there is enough clearance for having an ND filter on the lens when the camera is off and the lens is tucked away or it would be extremely annoying..

@@stephengibbons Clearly more to this than I thought!
Higher ISO does not increase the sensitivity of a sensor. ISO is applied signal gain.
