Quick disclaimer: My audio mixer decided not to work for this recording, which I did not find out until I went to edit, so I had to use the on-camera audio. Really unfortunate, but we'll bounce back with high audio quality again in future videos!
Con graduation
No worries that stuff always happens.
Live and learn
I apologize about the spelling I’m not a good speller
@@AllOutBrick hey what is your favorite bionicle set
Mans actually recorded a video on his graduation day, absolute legend
Priorities am I right
What’s up Landon
@@helixxmusic yoooooo
@@landonfleury I didn’t know you liked bonks
That is/was the brutal state of the algorithm (if YT is your job); if you don't put in the grind and fall behind in posting videos for even a single day, you can also fall behind in your videos being recommended, like big time, because there are other people it is more profitable to promote
"Have a hard time guessing which one it is" the fact that there's no context within this video to suggest why Ahkmou makes the line funnier to me.
I figured no context needed to be given to be able to pick out the now 2-time traitor
There was a plan to have ahkmou show up as a shadow toa in 08 but it was shelved. Tbh it’s a damn shame I think it would’ve been cool
The reason for the bigger matoran is because they were "degrading" inside the "sleeping" pods, which makuta placed them in hence their small apperance in 2001 ( Tohunga ) and their upgraded bodies of 2003 resembling their former selves.
I love the casual "oh yea i graduated college, anyway back to bonks"
No way was I going to let the fandom be robbed of Mata Nui Monday
Bonks
The change in the colors of the axles and pins was implemented to make it easier to differentiate between the pieces. The blue pin axles were made, not to cut costs, but to differentiate it from a two-length black pin and a two-lenght black axle (the latter was changed in 2007 to red for the same reason)
I was goint to comment that.
And I still think it's a stupid reason, and it made a LOT of sets worse then they could be if they used black (or other colors) instead.
I also feel like the black was much stiffer? So they had 4 friction levels now. Grey, tan, blue, and black. That said, the grey and tan, and the blue and black, may have been the same friction levels and I just have old ones that are worn out lol
I think christian knows that. But in this case they did use the blue pins to cut costs, because there's no need for much differentiation in such a small set.
@Tesla-Effect They have the same design, just different color
@@huemus they have different desings, one has more friction than the other one
Even on the day of his graduation, this saint still brings us another video.
Whatever it takes
Yo congrats on the graduation, I happen to be a sophomore myself. Your reviews are always a treat as they are such high quality and a joy to watch.
I appreciate that! Best of luck with your remaining semesters!
I’m so glad I finally got these in my collection. Underrated matoran for sure.
Can't wait to see your review for them. That trailer has me hyped up
@@AllOutBrick I’m stoked. And just like you I only want my viewers to get the best of quality. So I really gotta show up with mine!
The two of us flooding the community with reviews... I see this as an absolute win!
agreeeeed
I really appreciate that, unlike most reviewers, you show boxes of the sets as well. It's been ages since I last saw some of them, so it's really nostalgic in a way.
Also congratulations on your graduation!
Glad to hear I'm not the only one who is enamored by some of the box art, and thank you!
I love this matoran, their masks are quite unique
'04 was a really good year. Looking forward to the rest of the sets!
Btw, congrats on the graduation man!
I'm already hyped up for the rest of this year's line. And thank you!
Hell yeah. Screw Ahkmou btw, what a prick
Seeing how rapidly the Matoran sets got larger and larger reminds me that Bionicle had some insane “scale creep” over the years. The Matoran went from the little McDonalds toys to the size of the OG Toa. The Toa went from their original size to the size of the older Titans. The Titans just kept getting bigger and bigger to keep up with the increasing size of the Toa.
I don’t think this was necessarily a good thing though. They became less and less intricate and more basic and “action figure” like. They got bigger but had way less pieces, and the increased space often made them extremely lanky with lots of “gappy” holes in them.
Don’t get me wrong, I was young and a bit late to the party so I grew up on the 2008 sets and the Glatorians, and I love those sets and have a lot of nostalgia for them despite their flaws. I just think the theme changed into something completely different with the Inika builds. As a kid the “action figure” vibe the later sets gave off is what I loved about them. But now as an adult I appreciate the complexity of the older sets and wish I had been around to experience them as a kid.
These sets are basic and action figure like, they always were. The extra 3 gear pieces for the spinning function doesn't make a design more intricate. Just gives it a play function that often got in the way as much as I like them. Look at the piece counts for sets. The toa generally are all the same, same with the matoran.
look at this legend recording a video on the day of his college graduation
Oh yeah, It's all coming Together
The drastic color palette change with this year was SO HYPE. Also, the extremely compact ball joint limbs that came with these matoran were massively underrated pieces. in terms of look and usefulness.
Metru Nui matoran are natural way of matoran. When Teridax put them into those matoran spheres they shrunk in size so they are more unhealthy looking on Mata Nui.
I still keep having the thought of which looks better for our own Mocs for our matoran, either use the metru bio torsos with a second to cover up the back, or use the the first line of Bohrok shields to cover up the back side of the torso.
Although the limbs were easier to make more variable, mainly by using some Bohrok arms and mata/Nuva limbs as well.
Lewa’s left arm shape worked amazingly for our Ko-Matoran Moc/oc
And Quk never looked better!.
{As much as I love the characters and the parts…. $&@% Ahkmou}
Got these bad boys last month and congratulations on the graduation 😁.
Awesome! Thank you!
Congrats dude, love the series!
Can't wait for you to review Inika, Barraki, and Mahri. Also congratulations!
Congrats on graduating! Also excited to move into 2004 let's gooo
Congrats on graduating! I watch your reviews every week and I always find them charming and enjoyable! They always brighten up my day 😊
Thank you! Glad to hear the channel brightens your day
I still have all of these. I remembering my local post office selling them when I was kid.
Woah, post office?! Bonks everywhere
Gratz on the Graduation!
Congrats man! Also Thx for taking the time
You bet
oh my goodness that combination model on the right on the backs of the boxes hit me with a wave of nostalgia
Congratulations dude!!!
Thanks!!
Great channel man, bionicles represent the childhood of our generation, I’ll look forward into it! 😁
Congrats on the graduation! I'm also happy to see us get to the 2004 sets since I only ever owned one Matoran, and kind of fell out from buying sets for a while around that time.
Thank you! When I was younger I started to phase out around 2006 so I am incredibly excited to get to experience nearly half the line for the first time
Number 1 rarest thing to happen on Earth: All Out Brick posting 2 bionicle videos in 1 week
Excellent video Chris. I loved these little dudes back in the day. Also congrats on graduating!
Much appreciated, thank you!
Akhmou's mask to me as a kid just reminded me of those chocolates in seashell shapes that had white chocolate tint stains. So when I look at him I don't see a traitor, I see a snack.
Congratulations! Your videos are so good!
Thank you so much!
Super excited for Metru-Nui! 2004 has some of my favorite Bionicle sets, and the Titans are really unique. I'm also a big fan of the Toa Metru and how posable they are. And congratulations on your Graduation! I wish you well!
2004 definitely feels like a really crucial transition year to discovering future possibilities of Bionicle. And thank you!
Happy graduation!
My second favorite Matoran!
The quality of your videos is so good also congrats about your graduation
My number 1 matoran sets
Congratulations on the graduation man. Great review.
Thank you!
The switch to blue axle pins was not for budget reasons, it was to make them stand out among regular pins and axles
something else nice about these sets, you can remove the disk launchers and store them on the backs of the model, and the neck connector holds them upright
I wasn't really a fan of the Metru Nui Matoran at all, but this video made me look at them in a whole new way (I think I might be getting some now...).
Also, congratulations on graduating college (or however you say that)!
Looks like Chris finally ascended to the blue pins and red axels con too, the mark of any great Bionicle review
😂
Congrats on graduating! :)
The only reason I can think of as to why the Metru-Nui Matoran (and Turaga Dume later) use the old Toa Mata/Nuva heads is because of how the updated head is shaped. The updated head was made to include a ball so it could be snapped into a matching socket and move around. If the Matoran had that same connection, it'd look very out of proportion. Take a head from a Toa Metru, place it onto a Metru-Nui Matoran, and you'll see what I mean.
congratulations for your gratuation, men
Thank you!
I've been looking forward to these, congrats on the graduation 🎓 👏
More to come! Thank you!
Congrats on your graduation!
I never had any of these in their complete form. In fact, I didn't have any of the Matoran-sized sets from the first five years of the theme. However I do remember finding each of their masks excluding the one from Tehutti (Black) in a Parts "Tub" (6638) released in 2006, along with the torsos from Akhmou (Brown), Ehyre (White) and Orkahm. Tehutti's torso never appeared in another set, but the ones for Nuhri (Red) and Vhisola (Blue) are each in one Titan set from '05 and '07 respectively. The same container had two copies of the disks of Ta-Metru and Ga-Metru, as it also had the pieces of two other sets containing them. These are also not the last appearance of the "Mata-style" head pieces...
Best matoran build imo
I just picked the black and red ones up on an impulse, cant wait for them to ship
Noice
LEGO: [re-uses a pre-existing mask or part for convenience or function]
Christian: "This is clearly some kind of conspiracy. It's all connected, you see! I'll show them all!"
Yoooo, congrats on graduating!
Thank you!!
Happy graduation man!
Appreciate it!
Found the dark red one in one of my boxes all dismembered rebuild him looks greaat
Guys your soo good you have 0 dislikes on this video
The blight of the blue pins begins...
They steadily began to change the colors of these smaller technic pieces to make the sets easier to build, at the cost of making them look worse
You can stick the launchers on the matorans' backs for easy and nice looking storage and to add some variety to how they're all posed together (including the blue pin that connects it to their hands so they don't just weirdly hold that part)
Is that what the long black technic pin is for on the backs of the Matoran? I figured they served a specific purpose
To be honest I wish Lego in 2004 still made masks collectible. Both Toa masks and Matoran "dual moulded" masks would be great to get. Hell, I would love to see toa mata masks in this style as well. And taking the affordability of matoran as well as the fact that we've got all six tribes, that would make it so easy to make small city dioramas and stuff.
But we've got discs that, well, no one really cared about. Did really anyone cared about slightly differently printed disks back then? I'm pretty sure the only one that did matter was disc of time.
I never thought about that point but I really agree. It would be very easy to make villages if masks could be collected
METRU NUI MONDAYSSSSSS
I opened 6 bohrok kal brand new and I can confirm that friction wears down with age and play. If you buy new expect great joints.
Getting so close to the best Toa design now 👀 can't wait
he has to wait till 2015 and 2016!
Congratulation on your graduation! :D
Thank you!!
Love your content! Subscribed!!🌴🏴☠️🌃
Welcome aboard!
Congrats on your graduation!!
Thank you!!
Excellent, one of my favorite years! Also first? I think? Also, congrats on graduating!
Close second! Thank you!
Congratulations, bro. And greetings from Russia. Keep it up, love your channel ❤️
Thank you very much!
The Mata Nui matoran are smaller simply because they stayed a lot of time in the spheres in wich they were putted in by the Vahki. So all the other Mata Nui matoran were like this when they lived in Metru Nui. Also matoran don't age phisically.
Congratulations on graduating! I really like these matoran you really get to see the matoran looking healthy and in their prime. But I am not fond of the characters themselves. Especially Ahkmou
Anyone who likes Ahkmou can be considered a traitor
Wis you’d talked more about the actual build… the torso design for instance, and the way they’d every empty and gappy in the back. It‘s my favorite torso but personally, I can’t get over the happy back. LOL.
I just realised the mask elements are actually switched around from the Turaga:
Matau's mask is on the ice matoran while Nuju's mask is on the air matoran
Nokama's Mask is on the Stone Matoran and Onewa's mask is on the water matoran
And Vakama's mask is on the earth matoran and Whenua's on the fire matoran
Fun
When I graduate college eventually I'm gonna find a way to put 2001 Tahu on my hat
Nice
So nice
I got one of these new and sealed and still opened it
For like $20 it was crazy, but what are bonkles for if not to be played with?

Congrats on graduation! I have 1 year left of college. I have not been to a single college or high school party in my life. And I am ok with this
Hey Peter, you do you man, whatever makes you happiest is the best path. Best of luck with your last year!
@@AllOutBrick good luck in the adult world!
It was the brown matoran of Metru Nui.
Metru Nui Mondays!
For consistency sake I'm going to keep it officially named Mata Nui Monday throughout the whole theme, but we all know that now it's technically Metru Nui Mondays
It's so weird that you said "eight point two" instead of "eight two"😂
Forreal, I typically do just leave out the point
I love this set. Time when matoran are not clone of toa
Something i think is silly about the Metru Nui lore is how there were apparently only 1000 Matoran on Metru Nui which seems like a very low population number for a city roughly the size of Manhattan.
I always thought it was at least the size of Tokyo.
Congrats on graduation!
Thank you!!
How do you get these sealed sets?
Where do you buythe boxes from?
you get them out with a technic connector? how? i've always just used a butter knife, works just fine
ua-cam.com/video/h92QZHmjjAk/v-deo.html
I’m disappointed that the Metrutoran who has blue eyes is Ahkmou the TRAITOR instead Vhisola
Where do you get these bionicles ebay? (Im looking to buy some from my childhood)
Honestly, i can't remember normal matoran (not counting kra/av matoran) ever having unique mask molds, they just always use masks from past sets
@FailBetterTV yeah because so that they would look similar to their toa nuva counterparts, and because they weren't your casual matoran, but av matoran. Also radiak gavla and my boy kirop too had unique molds
I used to have a couple of these but the bootleg versions which are literally the same since my family didn’t have much money , btw congrats for the graduation not in college yet , does your friends know you make bionicle videos since they prob grew up with them too
Hey no shame in that, as long as you got to enjoy the theme that's fantastic! And yes they do, my friends are quite aware of the LEGO® content I work on even though hardly any of them are big builders themselves
Doing the matoran first also makes sense story wise
The toa metru started as matoran
Matoran into Toa, Toa into...
Matoran -> Toa -> Turaga
Make a 2006 / Voya Nui Matoran Review.. Man they were so weird
Congratulations on your graduation.
Thank you!!
Ahkmou has betrayed the Po Matoran and Onewa, and Join forces with Makuta.
Bud here is gonna be flabbergasted when he finds out 95% of the build of these matoran is composed of "mata nui" pieces and the only new piece is the chest. Definetly feels like a a "new island".
I almost was flabbergasted for a second and had to look it up to see if this is the case. The 4 limb pieces, chest piece, disk launcher, and gradient masks are all brand new to the 2004 line. Over 25% of the set is new pieces 🤙
I completely forgot this was a thing
Objectively it's fair to say they are better as sets but Id take the tohunga over them anyday. They look flat almost like gingerbread cookies especially if you turn them around they look bad. The pin connection gives their launchers a better motion range but if you don't have new pins they're going to tilt out of place which gets annoying.
Congrats btw
what about the Toa Nuva?
Metrutoran = B tier
Where did you get these sets sealed?
