Ya know what grinds my gears? When I see someone with a turntable and the two bookshelf speakers directly next to it. No separation or isolation at all. May as well go mono..

1) People who throw a party then turn the music up so loud you can't even talk to the others.
2) People who come to my home and start manhandling my stereo and computers.
(Hint: It's not yours, so hands off!)
3) Private listening rooms that look like retail stores.
4) Loudness Wars
5) Power amplifiers with no clipping and protection indicators. (Try to guess how many blown tweeters that would prevent!)
AND a bonus one...
6) Audiophile mysticism and gatekeeping.

A big ick for me is when you're talking to someone and they declare your speakers or equipment junk because you haven't spent 35,000 like they did. If im enjoying my music or movies, what's the cost got to do with it.
Great video! Cool to hear my comment mentioned. You mentioned you DJ, my ICK when I worked mobile was people who would try to put their drinks on high powered resonating expensive pa speakers .Not just for the obvious damage potential but drinks rattling right off smashing onto the dancefloor. Ick!
Yeah I see your point...but on the other hand the drinks are going to end up on the dance floor anyway. So....many years ago I saw Tragic Mulatto live at O"Kays Corral. The vocalist added a new dimension to the spilled drinks on the dance floor. She came to the stage (and dance floor) wearing nothing but seran wrap around her body with little cheese balls trapped between the layers. They didn't all stay trapped....and fell to the dance floor mixing with all the spilled beer ! Perfect choice for a gig in wisconsin. Yes that was absolutely the slipperiest dance floor I had ever been on. I remember this show like yesterday. The first verse from her mouth was Revelations (new revised standard version) " Fallen , fallen is Babylon the great ! She has made all nations drink the wine of the wrath of her ...fornications ! " ... unforgettable. She also sings a knock out version of Whole Lotta Love...the best I've heard .
Reviewers who say every item they review is "the new standard" or best they ever heard (I don't want to get too much in a Huff here, hint, hint).

I'm in a small 10x11 room. I have my LS-50 Metas (gasp!) pulled out 3ft. It made a huge difference. I did this after Guttenberg recommended starting with a 6ft equilateral triangle. Give it a try. Also, booo to Bruce as well 😂
yup Im in same sized room and my fabus standmounters are pulled out---I am in a 5.50 foot triangle.
Revolution #9 is my pet peeve. Yoko Ono was not John Lennon's best decision, sorry not sorry.
My Dali speakers are about 7 inches from the wall with a very slight toe in and sound fantastic :)

Two Icks for me are when nice speakers are built using cheap looking drywall screws to mount the drivers! Use t-nuts or cover them with a beauty ring or something - oh, my second one is cable risers 😡
Rectangular VU meters, warped vinyl, $500 amps through $1500 speakers, low quality streaming of high quality recordings owned in local collection, and finally, a Pink Floyd Pulse concert played below 80 dB. 😂😂😂

and another thing!!.. components that come with the same remote control, but some of the buttons control different functions depending on which component they go with.. and they don’t ship with a label you could stick on the back to help tell you which one it’s paired with - looking at you, SMSL Where’s the scan-design furniture for the gaggle of remotes!

The product reviews pay the bills but more people need advice on setup, feedback issues including hum, rumble, buzzing etc. while using turntables and phono stages etc.

Ok, my absolute nerve jangling ick is when someone will wipe their fingertip across the stylus on the turntable "to clean it off". That scraping noise through the speakers makes me cringe.
Right? Yeah sure...gotta respect (fear?) a man who can "blow the balls off of a rhinoceros at 200 yards" with a guitar so Uncle Ted gets a thumbs up just for THAT.
Plus, I saw him in Detroit twice as a teenager and a third time with Damn Yankees and the dude may be on the twitchy side sometimes but he knows how to play that guitar.

My ICKS. People with nice systems that costs money and the speakers are wired with zip cord. $300 turntables with $600 cartridges. Speakers crammed into bookshelves so they don’t “stick out.” Expensive equipment that has nothing on the front. It looks cheap! Showing your system to a friend and they only say “Good bass”. Buying an album you really want and it sounds like shit. People that judge speakers by size only.
People that thump your woofers with their middle fingers and say “Hmmmm.” High end stuff that comes in el cheapo packaging. Small volume knobs, you know, the ones that are the same size as the other ones on the front of the amp. Final one. Re released albums that costs a fortune and don’t sound any better than the original. Sacrelige!
Cheapaudioman wouldn't know a quality speaker if it bit him in his Wiim mini.
K I got one: A power ON / OFF switch that is not a standalone function; it's combined with speaker selection, source, volume, maybe even treble. Fortunately it's not all that common nowadays... but I like some old stuff.
Don’t get me wrong I love Neil Dimond but I like have 50 albums with the same twenty songs ! So at this point I can’t remember which ones I have and keep buying the same one’s over and over again justifying maybe this one’s in better condition like it makes a difference at this point ! Running out album space need help desperately ! Thanks for letting me ick !!
I very nice stereo system with some dudes toys ( marvel baby dolls ) stacked everywhere.
my ick is people who only think you can be a respected audiophile if you listen to OG pressings of Pink Floyd, or name your jazz album on your MC cartridge, why cant i listen to 311, NIN, Deftones or EDM and be considered part of the audiophile crew. Is it not about the passion for the music, or must one have a certain level of gear to match the standard audiophile artist. I wish more people remember what it was like to be 17 cranking up their music on their super basic system and just falling in love with the music on an emotional level. I feel we loose track of that as we get older sometimes.

It might work to upload your design to a company like T shirt studio who will manufacture and dispatch locally and link it to a storefront. That is relatively easy to do and would extend your reach to the UK and Europe without much, if any, upfront cost. Maybe not worth it now, but perhaps when you reach 100,000 subs 😉
And if you ever do come over you have a standing invite to visit.
Edit: Others will probably know if the above idea would work. Not sure how any profits would be taxed etc if going overseas.
ick... saw an Iota VX for sale on FB MP. Good price. Sorry, i can't get past the shouty branding. Barf. (Not an ick, but a gripe, not having anywhere to go to audition stereo equipment nowadays. It's either Bestbuy, or uber elite stores. It's basically buy, try, swap, try another. I know, that's sort of pro, not just a con, but there's a limit to how much gear i can rotate through my house without my wife noticing. I know, get her into it, then share the passion. Baby steps.). Turntables with no auto-reverse function
To @ timleelim9930 : Even the Technics 1200's, new or vintage don't have that feature. Not everyone is into scratching their valuable record or is a dj. However, I have seen this feature on lower end turntables that are not capable of accurate music reproduction and are cheaply constructed. Serious music lovers, listeners and collectors would not want a turntable with that feature which could damage record grooves, not to mention the greasy finger prints and other abuses that go with it! Thankfully technology has developed digital gear capable of mimicking the scratching sounds without having to damage one's valuable records. As a former dj(but mostly music collector) I sometimes enjoyed the sounds of scratching in music( as long as the records weren't mine!😁).Anyway enjoy the music man! That's what we all want!😊😊
Greetings, my fellow audiophiles and music lovers. This is from a 64 year old Black man O.G.😊This is the ick that just kills my ass!! Whenever I go to a record store or over someone's house and see records stored on top of each other, or slanted on a shelf or in a storage bin! (Dang man!!) Many times when I shop for records I straightened them upright because I couldn't stand them being beent over and prone to warping!! I will perform this at times when I'm looking ("sigh!") because I feel it is my duty to look out for my fellow music enthusiast and audiophiles.

Only because you asked, I live in Sydney Australia and it is a bloody virtual audio desert. I'm 53, and remember that even 20 years ago, I could buy a mini hifi with usable sound. Now it's all sound bars or in the very few high-end hifi stores, extremely expensive and not always justified high prices. Why can't I just buy a straight ahead 2 channel integrated amp or pair of passive speakers? I'm gonna lose my shit one day soon and buy online, some Chinese Amp and some other stuff and never look at retail stores ever again.
For Christmas this year I bought my sons Klipsch self powered bookshelf speakers not even realizing how flexible they are. They have a builtin DAC and phono preamp and bluetooth and a sub out, and I don't even remember what else. I just got them to go with a cheap AT turntable. It turned out they're a lot nicer than the tt. My point is I guess that's what works today for an affordable mini stereo.

Reviewers that say speaker "A" is the best ever and is a forever or end game for them only to say the same thing about speaker "B" a month or so later. If a reviewer does not have some consistency in their reference gear then I have a very difficult time valuing their full opinion. I think you're great, Gutenberg is great and Thomas is pretty damn good, the rest are so so but I do watch all of them
Ive tried so hard to be into Springsteen, for decades and i just cant.... Amazing human being however, always willing to give a fan the time of day, for that you gotta respect the guy. At least hes not J Lo!
