      @@TheIELTSGrind Thank you so much. I will watch this video over and over until I get those expressions into my active vocabulary so I can use them when I need them.
      After I master those, I will go to another video of yours and start over.
      Do you think this way of learning is ok?

    • @TheIELTSGrind

      Practice is always a good approach.
      Have you taken a practice test recently or do you have a tutor who can help you identify your biggest problems?
      If you know where you are struggling then you will be able to focus on that and see faster improvement.
      For us, usually students struggle the most with speaking and writing, so you'll find plenty of videos on these exam papers on our channel.

    • @TheIELTSGrind
      @TheIELTSGrind  3 роки тому +1

      One more thing to help you out @jall lu ! Don't be afraid to modify the sentence frames you see in our videos to match your own personal experience. If you want you can leave your modified sentences (not the whole speaking, just changed sentences) in the comments and we will let you know if you're using it correctly.
      Additionally, don't forget to work on your grammar too. Follow these steps to work on noticing your grammar mistakes and activley work on improving them.
      Step 1- Record yourself answering a question with a focus on fluency. Just speak.
      Step 2- Listen to your recording. Write down any mistakes you hear and correct them in a notebook. Do NOT write down everything, just your mistakes.
      Step 3- Record yourself agian and focus on grammatical accuracy and using correct vocabulary.
      Step 4- If you have a person (native speaker) who can look it over, transcribe (or write down everything) from your second recording and give it to them. Ask them to correct any grammar mistakes that you missed and offer better ways to say what you are trying to say.
      Following steps 1-3 will help you work on your fossilized errors, or those mistakes that you know about but still make. Over time they will fade away as you notice what they sound like. They will start to sound wrong and that is when you know you'e succeded.
      Step 4 will obviously help you see how native spakers phrase things and learn better sentence frames and vocabulary. They will also be pointing out any grammar mistakes that you don't know you are making. This will help you see what grammar points you still need to learn and focus your learning.
      Good luck!

      I’m so grateful for your help. It is challenging to master English but you are making it easier for me.
      To be honest, I don't intend to take the IELTS exam anytime soon. That said, English is my passion. I have a penchant for learning and becoming proficient in this language.
      Nonetheless, I would definitely keep practicing, so when the time I need to take the exam comes, then I would be ready for it.
      Thank you

    How to answer the question, Do you work or study? Because in my case i have been graduated and right now i am only preparing for IELTS. How should I answer?

    • @TheIELTSGrind
      @TheIELTSGrind  3 роки тому +17

      A great question. I would say exactly that. I have recently graduated and I am have been preparing for the IELTS.
      The examiner just wants to know if they should ask you questions about being a student or about being a worker.
      You can also just 'lie' and say you are currently a student or an employee.

      The best advice we can give you is to 1) answer the question directly in your first sentence. and 2) provide supporting sentences with relevant examples or points in the following sentences. If you can give specific examples, that's great.
      Remember, it's not the quality of the argument that is graded but the way it is linked together and presented. That makes it a lot easier!

    I have recently passed my 12th and going to give my ielts what is the best answer ?

    • @TheIELTSGrind
      @TheIELTSGrind  3 роки тому

      The best advice I can give you is to try to answer the question fully. You do this in English by first answering the questions directly, then you provide supporting details to expand on your answer. These supporting details can be a reason, an example, an explanation or a summary etc. Also, try not to concentrate on 'the perfect answer' and instead concentrate on learning English. The IELTS is an English test and there are no shortcuts unfortunately. We wish you the best of luck for your exam and feel free to join us for live speaking classes on Fridays..

    • @TheIELTSGrind
      @TheIELTSGrind  3 роки тому +1

      A good question.
      Remember that the examiner just wants to know which list of questions they should ask you, those about work or about study.
      I would either say "I recently quit my job, but let's talk about it' or pretend I'm still working.
      At the end of the day, the IELTS is just about English and not truth!

    Hey i am neither working nor studying..i am homemaker only..so what should i say to examiner????

    • @TheIELTSGrind
      @TheIELTSGrind  3 роки тому +5

      Hey Sandeep. You have three options here.
      1) hope that you don't get this question and get the topic about 'home' instead. It will be either work/study or home for the first set of questions.
      2) just be honest and do your best to answer the questions. The examiner will either ask you one list of questions based on work or on study depending on what you tell them.
      3) Just pretend you are either working or studying. Maybe talk about your past studies as if you are still doing them or describe the job you have had or would like to have in the future.
      Just remember that the examiner doesn't care if the information is correct, just that it is in English.
      Good luck!

      Hi! one more thing related to option 2 is that you can talk about past experiences. So if you say that you used to work in X industry but now you are a house wife they will ask you about that job that you did do. it is the same if you say that you recently graduated or used to be a student they will ask you questions but using the past tense so make sure you answer in the past tense as well!

      Hello Bajwa, to give a good answer in the IELTS exam you need to answer the question directly and then give supporting ideas for your answer. Although structures and strategies are important, concentrating on actually learning English is much more useful. This video and all videos on this channel are going to help you because we are native speaker, just listen to us and learn from us.
      Feel free to join us on Fridays for speaking practice live.
