    Jon, great video. I just started watching your channel about a month ago and have seen nearly all of them. Keep it up, not only do you execute you project with precision and brilliance, you also inspire us to create, and produce at the same level of excellence. I really enjoy and look forward to all of your drops, and being from the north east is an added bonus. Oh, one thing, have your son drill a couple holes next time, it's good to see the young guys eager to learn.

    Good video, any idea how you could angle the dowels so the boards slide back slightly towards the wall?

    How much weight do you think the bars would hold. I'm looking to build a rack for some longboards and a stand up paddle board that weighs 36 lbs. Do you think the bars could handle that load?

    for what reason did you use the miter saw for the endgrain instead of the router bit that you used for the sides?

    • @TheSafecrkr1
      @TheSafecrkr1 8 років тому

      me too. just do the end grain first then the edge grain. ALSO how come we didn't see you surfing ?
      thanks Jon, great vid.

    • @JonPetersArtHome
      @JonPetersArtHome  8 років тому +1

      It was an after thought to rout the ends and I had put the router away, so that was just another way to make a chamfer.

    what is this kind of screw? is it working with any kind of hard wall? don't you need an anchor for these?

    just read the other comments-- fyi, the facial hair is different, but looks good. if you would like to keep it, don't let others persuade you to do otherwise.

  • @Skalamusa

    You can put pool noodles on the dowels so the boards don't get scratched.

    • @JonPetersArtHome

      Good idea, or pipe insulation, I still add that.

  • @typeaboutit
    @typeaboutit 8 років тому

    why did you use a router to chamfer the edge grain, then a mitre saw to chamfer the end grain?

    • @JackMW1992
      @JackMW1992 8 років тому +1

      I imagine with a soft wood like that pine, using the router would cause blowout as the router exited the work-piece without a sacrificial board. Plus, John really likes his miter saws.

    2 broom sticks and 2 studs. Tap con stud to wall. Insets broom sticks. Put towel or padding on floor. Done. DO NOT PAINT.

    This rack will last for maybe ten minutes before the dowels start to warp under load. It's too bad people get to post things on You Tube with no accountability. This is a cute video but a horrible idea.
